Just bought my first Sonos product, a Play 5. I love it, but I want to add to it to feel even more surrounded by my music. Given the layout of my living room/kitchen below and the current Play 5 denoted in blue, should I add a second Play 5 to make a stereo pair or should I add a pair of Play 1s to throw on the back wall of my kitchen?
Is the Windows desktop software going the (tragic) way of the mobile app? Or does the latest upgrade leave the UI alone? I can't stand the new app, and have postponed updating my Windows Controller to avoid further annoyance.
I’m looking for a decent cheap tablet to use as a sonos controller. I’d love something that has a powered dock if possible. I’d really love something that could be setup to run just a few apps, or maybe only the sonos app. And go!
Hi, is there a way to view my Spotify playlists in Sonos with the newest additions at the top rather than at the bottom of the listing. I have large Spotify playlists and when viewed in Sonos I have to scroll down a long long way to see my newest track additions. If my network is slow this issue is also compounded in that the lower down tracks don't appear for quite some seconds which is further frustrating. I more often like to play my most current tracks (new additions) than a track I added 2 or 3 years ago. A button to reverse / toggle the playlist order (show newest / oldest first) would be really welcomed if none exists currently. If this doesn't exist maybe Sonos could consider it / add to a wishlist. Thank you.
I would like to be able to toggle the speech and night mode features of the playbar off and on from my remote; I would like to be able to assign an unused key to toggle these on and off without needed to go to my iPad or phone. Thanks
Hi, Is there any plan to put time schedule for night mode in playbar? I'm using the sonos sub with the playbar, and if I forgot where I put iphone while turning on the tv, it's waking up my kids! the feature is useful but rubbish due to no smart setting (time schedule of mapping in logitech harmony remote)
I want to install a SONOS system at a lake house in a rural setting. CenturyLink is the provider and I would be purchasing a ZyXel pk5000Z or pk5001Z DSL modem through them. Does anyone have any experience with this type of configuration, and if so, what are the results? Thanks.
Hi all, I hope some of you clever guys can help me with some input on how to set up a Sonos system, that will be great at booth playing stereo music from my turntable as well as sorrundsound from my TV. So there's two areas to address here: Sound from turntable in living room: I want The best possible stereo sound from my turntable. Therefore I am thinking about connecting it to a Sonos connect and then into a stereo amplifier and then into some floor speakers. Having a connect in the middle enables me to send the sound to the rest of the house, and having a amp connected to larger floor speakers ensures good sound in the room Surround sound from tv in living room: I have a tv connected to an Apple tv. I can then connect it to a sound bar that is on the Sonos Network so I can have booth a sub and rear speakers connected. In the attached image I have tried to sketch out setup that might be able to do it, but I'm not sure this is the best way, or if there is a better way.
It used to just be ugly, but now the desktop apps are falling behind in functionality (for example the Sonos favourites). Just wanted to let somebody at Sonos know that some people aren't completely converted to controlling everything from their phones and would like the desktop apps to keep up (surely it's their turn now).
Are there plans for SONOS to add support for a 7.1 system (i.e., Playbase or Playbar + Sub + four Play 1's)?
Morning all, like a lot of us I'm going through that exercise of upgrading all our lights from the oddball collection to 100% LED and it caused me to wander what my various Sonos boxes consume on standby and in operation. Does anyone have stats that show (to a layman) what my various CA's, Play 5's, Sub Woofers etc consume .... whilst passive and when hammering it out? Very interested to have an idea about that......maybe Sonos has the data in a table on site somewhere? Many thanks in advance
The server stack error keeps happening on a Windows 8.1 microsoft surface pro despite applying all of the fixes listed under http://faq.sonos.com/serverstack. Cannot add music library from this machine, but Windows 7 machine works fine. Diagnostic confirmation # 4008523
Since yesterday, ganna+ account not getting autjorized through sonos app on android ...tried removing app and adding it again...removed ganna+ from services list, however, no luck. Tried feom different phone...no luck...pls help
As Sonos was promoting buying stereo pair of Sonos Ones to compete with Apple Homepod (which seems to be failing so far - at least until apple fixes Airplay2) .....first article I saw where they actually compared the stereo Sonos Ones with a Homepod (and actually confirmed they did to Trueplay tuning on the Sonos). https://www.cnet.com/news/apple-homepod-vs-sonos-one-sound-quality-face-off/ Really there only negative to the Sonos One appears to be not as strong in the low end.
Add Sub to more than one group. Sub is located between two rooms/groups.
Hi, I am posting this in the forum because I have the large hope that somebody from Sonos will read this and perhaps forward it to the development department or to a manager who has some influence in future sonos developments. I spent quite some time and put lots of energy into this topic, so I hope my message will somehow find its way to sonos management. The reason for this post is that I really wish there would be a hardware RF remote control with physical buttons to control Sonos Speakers. It is so so very annoying to have to 1. Clean not only one but all of your finger/hands if they are dirty - for example when working in the kitchen 2. Pick up your mobile phone or tablet from the table 3. Unlock your phone (very annoying and cannot disable if using my mobile with an exchange account from work, which automatically enables locking) 4. Search for and then Open the Sonos App 5. Control the App with your fingers every single time .. for such a simple task as changing the volume o
Since I updated my play5 to 8.4 my Danish Radioplay dosen't function any more Is there a solution for this
Recently downloaded to iPhone app. Everything seems to work well except I have no control over volume. I have checked this when the app is both in the foreground and background and have tried the hardware side switched and the Control Center controls. The switch is set to on for hardware control. I also do not see the lock screen controls and the switch is also on for that to show; therefore, can't control volume from there either. The Windows 10 web page works properly; there are no Sonos system configurations issues
Are there any plans to to do more integration between sonos and hue? Or perhaps I should change that question to "Can there be more integration between sonos and hue please?". I'm not after the "alexa, please set my lights to XYZ" stuff. I'm after simple, disco mode! Currently I can play music, but with the Ipad "listening" with the Hue Party app running and that makes my hue lights dance. It would be great to combine the two. Play music on Sonos and it makes the lights dance to the beat. Gut feeling is that Sonos customers probably are the types who are also into their home automation and therefore integration with automated lighting systems would be a cool feature - even if you had to pay for it.
Hi I am remodeling my house and want to use SONOS soundbar and subwoofer. I am interested in getting a 75" inch TV (prefer one of the QLED Samsung versions), but seen some posts about compatibility of one remote with sound bar. I also am designing two in ceiling speakers for rear sound. There will be 2 in the rear family room and 2 in the kitchen connected to a Sonos connect amp which is connected to the soundbar for 5.1 surround sound...These are my questions 1. Which 75" inch Samsung or other manufacturer TV will give be best compatibility with the soundbar. Is the One Remote issue for controlling the soundbar volume a showstopper or can it be resolved. Do I need to have the one connect box? 2. Which in ceiling speakers connected to the SONOS connect amp are best for the rear sound. I have 11ft high ceilings and a great room. Any input on best performance...willing to spend $300/speaker 3. Can I play music over the 4 speakers independent of the TV surround sound if I want.
My Sonos Play 3 wireless speakers and my wireless sub cut out intermittently while the TV is playing. I have NOT noticed this problem when I'm playing music from my phone. My TV has a soundbar which continues to play, but my Play 3s and the sub cut off for about a minute. I've read your article on wifi interferences and my bridge, my sub, my soundbar, and my 2 Play3s are more than 1 foot away from a router and from each other. I've changed the Sonos Net channel to 1, 6, and 11 and the problem still occurs at any of those settings. My soundbar is connected to TV via s audio cable, bridge is connected via Ethernet cable, and everything else is wireless. I've submitted diagnostic and it gave me this message "Your confirmation number is: 2111889170." Your help would be greatly appreciated.
I wanted to offer my opinion on these two speakers. I've spend the better half of three day comparing one of my play 1's to my new second gen play 5. Rules were simple, flat EQ and both tuned in the same location. I put right next to each other and ran numerous tests. I tested with loudness on and off. Tuning on and off and have come to some conclusions that were pretty unexpected. I reran tuning multiple times to try and improve sound from both. - Play 1 clarity, voice accuracy and instrument separation sound much better under 50% - Play 1 bass is very impressive under 50%, without a noticeable improvement using the play 5, in fact its more pronounced than the play 5's bass under 50%. - Play 1 voices and instruments are far more pronounced at lower levels. I can hear the rasp of someone's voice and the strum of a guitar much better. - Play 5 sound is more 'soft' and set back. - Above 50%, the play 1 begins to sounds like a tiny speaker - Above 50%, the play 5 comes to
Just wondering, for a very small footprint system, how these would compare. The Vanatoo T1's get amazing reviews, and are self-powered like the Play:1's. A bit more at $500/pair plus the Connect, vs $400 for a pair of Play:1's. Perhaps a pair of Play:3's would be a more fair comparison? From what I've read, a pair of Play:1's will outperform a single Play:3 or Play:5 in clarity, and certainly in stereo separation, but somewhat lacking in bass. The Vanatoo's are supposed to be superbly well balanced, with excellent bass for their size. Not quite as clean an installation as a pair of Play:1's, though... Hmmmmmm.... What to do?
I have a Play1 on my counter in the master bath and now added and complimented with in ceiling speakers and grouped with a Connect Amp located in the closet. I want to group the volume control on the (easy to reach) Play1 instead of pulling out a smartphone.
I recently purchased the LG UP970 4K bluray player and was starting to play the Dark Knight in 4K and the audio wasn't playing through my playbar, sub and surround setup. I did research a found that it outputs DTS which the playbar doesn't support. I am using an HDMI for the audio out and was wondering if an HDMI audio converter/switcher would work for my situation. I have found this product, https://www.amazon.com/J-Tech-Digital-Extractor-Converter-Passthrough/dp/B074HHSJVN/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8, but wasn't quite sure whether it would be able to fix the problem.
