Hi,

My system is updated to the latest available version.

I'm using the latest Android app 80.12.04-release+20241114.cfc873c. My system language is set to French.

I'm using Pocket Casts as a service to listen to podcast episodes.

I can add episodes to the list from the “New Releases” section, but it fails from the “Podcasts” one.

It's working using the app on Windows.

Screenshots:

My list of podcasts in the Podcasts section:

Selecting a podcast:

(You can see there is a problem too with the date of every episode on this screen. It's the same with my other podcasts' list of episodes. “1 janv. 10000000000” is “January 1st, 10000000000” = 10000000000-01-01.)

The context menu for the latest episode (first in the list), via a long press:

Adding to the end of the current playlist:

It fails:

(Translation of the message in the grey background: “Impossible to add to list”)

The same process for the “New Releases” section:

(The message is now “Added to the list”).

It's not a problem of messages, it really succeeded or failed to add the episode.

I use 1 episode of 1 podcast for the screenshots, but it's the same with every episode of every podcast from the “Podcasts” section.

Hi @mcl80

Welcome back to the Sonos Community! Thank you for your comprehensive report!

We were already aware of the incorrect date issue, and are investigating.

I was able to replicate the conditions of your report - while I was able to find one item in Podcasts that did play (David Tennant Does a Podcast with...), the rest that I tried did not, whereas those located in New Releases did play.

I have reported the issue and will get back to you when I hear more - most likely, when the issue has been confirmed by the engineers.

Thanks again for flagging this.

Hi @Corry P

Thanks for the prompt reply 😀

I did some more tests if it can help fixing the problem.

In Podcasts:

  • “Play now” and “Play next” fail like “Add to the end of queue”.
  • “Replace queue” works, but replace the queue with every episodes it can. (I say “it can” because I think that when the list of episodes is long, it’s lazily loaded and only the loaded part is put in the queue.)
  • Using a play button next to an episode works but with the “Replace queue” drawback.
  • Same problems on testing with an empty queue (my screenshots were with a non-empty queue).

I’ve added the David Tennant podcast to Pocket Casts and did some test after waiting 1 day for it to sync to the service in Sonos. (A refresh button is missing, I don’t know if it would be the responsibility of Sonos or the Pocket Casts service).

Its latest episode is 4 years old (so it’s not showing in “New Releases”).

I tried “Add[ing] to the end of queue” each episode (as there are not a lot) and for me, each failed.

Best regards.

Hi @mcl80

Thanks for performing that extra testing - I’ll pass your results on to my colleague.

Strange that we see different results for the same Podcasts - I’m not sure why that would be.
