Hi there, my question is about using my turntable with Sonos Connect (the one without the amp) and just using that to play on my other Sonos speakers, (Playbar and two Play 1 surrounds and a sub).
I got rid of my old speakers and the giant receiver they were connected to but felt I could still use the Connect as a way to play records but it’s not working. Any ideas? Or is what I’m doing not possible?

Cheap one. RIAA Preamps are 100 year old technology. The components involved can be bought for pennies, the expensive ones are pure snake oil.

+18Are all devices on the same S1 or S2 system? If so, you have to connect your turntable via line out or with an external pre amp to Connects line in.
In Connects line in settings set input sensitivity to about 2-4. Also set Autoplay on and select your favorite room and a default volume level to play the input signal.
Yes, all on the same system. Can you be explicit about which port you mean? There is an optical port, a coax then an audio out (red and white) and audio in (red and white). The turntable is plugged into the audio in and the app reflects that. It was auto set to sensitivity 2.
Playing it now but still no sound.
Does the turntable have a built-in pre-amp? If not, you may need one to boost the signal level being sent to the Connect.
Hi Nik, no it doesn’t. I was under the impression that the preamp was used to power the speakers only since the turntable had power. I’m not super knowledgeable on how it works so that’s a helpful thought.

A pre-amp boosts the signal to line-in levels, as I understand it.

Boosts the signal, and reverses the RIAA equalization which is applied to records to improve recording time and cut down on wear. RIAA equalization reduces the lows and increases the highs when the record is recorded. A phono preamp reverses this.
