Can't get Soundbar to play through digital optical

I just purchased the Play bar and I cannot get it to connect with the digital optical output on my Sony Bravia 52 KDL-XBR3. I know the optical output works but it won't with the play bar. If I connect the play bar directly to my cable box, it will work but this is a pain as it does not shut off when the tv gets shut off so I have to press the power button each time. Any ideas?
Sounds like there is some setting issue in the Sony TV’s audio settings that needs adjustment. Have you contacted Sony?
