I can't connect the ace headphones to the Sonos app on android (pixels 7)

Any tips?

I shouldn't have to buy an Apple device for a "workaround" to use this product with Android.

I had the same issue on my Pixel 8 pro. What worked for me was the solution provided by Crhudson (connected the Ace to my iPad - that was linked to my Sonos account, and then update the headset from the iPad).

But before I could Connect to my iPad, I first had to do a factory reset on the Ace.

After the connection to my iPad/link to my Sonos account, I then reinstalled the Sonos app on my pixel phone, reconnected the headset via “normal” bluetooth and then I finaly (but not lease) restarted my phone.

The app recognised my headset immediately after the restart of my phone.

Hope this helps.

I have a Pixel 7 Pro. I was able to get audio swap to work by borrowing my step-daughter’s iPhone long enough to set it up and discover the headphones in the app. Once done I then switched back to my Pixel and the app saw the headphones. You may have to reboot your Pixel first. There is no audio swap button in the Android app, but you can use the content button on the headphones. You will have head tracking and ANC in the app. This should bide you until the update, you will just need to round up an iPhone or iPad. I have now listened to a good quality Dolby Atmos movie recorded at high volume (e.g. John Wick 2) and these headphones rock!! Trust me, with a good Atmos like John Wick 2 you will not be able to turn the headphones all the way up. You can with John Wick 1, but not John Wick 2. There many others (e.g. Man of Steel, Pacific Rim, Godzilla King of the Monsters, etc.) just find a good one that was recorded at high volume. Whatever you do don’t judge these headphones with streaming. You need wifi audio swap and a good Dolby Atmos 4k blu-ray. It’s amazing! Can’t wait for TrueCinema.

Absolutely true, I used my work iPhone to set it up and now just use the physical button.

Ah, need to give it a go with those movies but a bit disappointed overall with sound volume, even in music. As comparison I watched the intro of Top Gun Maverick with my Sony's MDR HW700 and they're much louder.

But sound quality, they're really good, I have 2 different Audeze headphones and the Ace have better instrument separation and clarity.

Overall I'm pretty happy with them.

This fixed my 3-day frustration 🫤... on a Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5...

- Update the Sonos S2 app

- Restart phone

- Cleared the cache of the Sonos app in app settings on my phone

- Assure full Rights for the Sonos app in the app settings of the phone (incl nearby devices)

- Factory reset of the ACE (ACE powered on, hold power button, connect to charging, release button, white flashing led confirms). ACE automatically initiate pairing

- Added my ACE to the phone via my phones bluetooth..

- Started the Sonos app, headed to system settings and clicked the button to add head phones - three seconds - VOILA!

Hope this helps some of you!

...by the way - I love my new ACE 😍..now just need to update to an Arc ones the swap-feature is released to Android..

I’ve used a similar process in the past and it works but after I turn my headphones off the app can’t find them (even when I’m using the headphones with the same device) and I have to repeat the same steps.

So basically if I want to use the headphones and the app I have to reset the app and factory reset the headphones then pair them again. Then of course I have to re-install the update for the headphones.

I don’t want to sound mean but what are Sonos doing? How can they release an app that can’t detect their own headphones? Literally a “you had one job” situation.

I have found with my Pixel 7 Pro when it doesn't detect the headphones if I go into the app info settings in the O/S and clear the cache then relaunch the app it detects the headphones. If that doesn't work try rebooting your phone.

I'm so annoyed at Sonos and Sonos users who have apple devices that chime in about this. Some of us don't have apple products. F*** off apple users. You're missing the point and you'll never understand

Hi everyone, sorry if I’ll be stating the obvious below, but I didn’t see this mentioned in the threads I’ve checked so far, so maybe it will help someone else as well.

I struggled for several days to get the Ace properly connected on my Android phone - it was connecting fine via BT, played music etc, but I wasn’t able to see them in the Sonos app or see the battery level.

I’m coming from Sony WH-1000XM4 and those use their own Headphones app with similar set of permissions like ‘nearby devices’ etc. From the moment when I uninstalled Sony Headphones app, Ace started working normally and connecting to Sonos app instantly. I’m running Android 14 on OnePlus phone.

Same problem for 7 days before I returned them. Running on pixel 8 pro. It's not your OS. Sonos just doesn't care.

Pixel 7 Pro here. Has anyone found a solution to this that isn’t “factory reset your headphones and clear your app cache every time you use your headphones”?

After resetting/relinking to the app they work until switched off and on again, then they go back to ‘not connected’ in the app every time. Still fine over bluetooth, but no app options for them.

Have to be honest, I used my Ace almost everyday on my Pixel 7 and not for once I find the need to use the app. Also to watch TV at night through my Arc I just use the shortcut button.

Having said this, I used my work iPhone to pair them with my Arc, but for music, I don’t feel the need to use the app. But still no excuse for them not fixing it (if they haven’t done it yet)

For me it’s mostly about occasionally tweaking EQ for different sources and being able to toggle spatial sound/head tracking. As well as missing any firmware updates.

Nothing that prevents them from working, but just frustrating.
