Troubleshoot, tune and get the most out of your system

Hi Sonos community. I have a strange issue whereby my Sonos One is clearly connected to the internet with all voice services working and music via it playing, however it does not show up on the app. It occasionally reappears but is very spotty when doing so and will present an error when trying to join speakers together. It is also not playing via Airplay, just showing up an error. This is a new issue and has always worked fine previously. I am using a Sonos Boost so to my knowledge should stop issues with WiFi interference, mesh networks connectivity etc. I have also tried all usual fixes including resetting my router, powering down speaker (will usually connect for a while then not any longer) and factory resetting the speaker and re-adding to system. Once it was added it worked ok for a small time but then took 3 occasions to set up True-Play as it kept losing connection to the speaker. Any suggestions as this is getting rather frustrating! Thanks
I can't get my LP player connected to my Sonos port to play on the Sonos soundbar
I am a new Sonos owner. (Arc,Sub, Ones (2), and Move.I am slowly learning the system and how it operates with it’s mostly Wi-Fi technology. I have a “Netgear Nighthawk” mesh system with router and two satellites. The actual router is situated near the Arc. I have a relatively small one story home, (1700 sq feet), with a decent sized back yard. What I have learned, by trial and error is that I had to re-arrange my satellites and place one on the lanai to cover the Move which we use out in the back yard. I have it set up temporarily, Just plugged in on a covered shelf. I want get some inputs on how to set the satellite up more permanently. Iam curious about how the bandwith puts out of the device, and height to place it on the lanai. All suggestions gladly entertained. Thank you!
Hey y’all, I wanted to see if others maybe had this issue and had some fixes. My ARC (setup with 2 subs and 2 play 1s as surround speakers), occasionally has kind of an echo/phasing effect.I notice it most often when watching Last Week Tonight (which is in Dolby 2.0), where partway through most episodes, it will start to sound like Jon is a football stadium announcer with the audio instead of being from the front speakers, starts to also have a slight echo in the surround speakers.Recently, however, it has done it on music playback from my computer library (I have the surrounds setup on Ambient), where the echo effect happens again. With HBO (native app to my Vizio TV), I can just stop the show and restart it. With the music, that didn’t work, so I restarted the speakers. But I can’t figure out what might happening, or if there’s likely a specific hardware issue that might be causing the issue.Any thoughts you all have would be appreciated. Thanks!
I have 4 Sonos Amps that are currently stacked on a shelf in a wall-mounted rack, there is no additional airflow currently. When they are stacked in a 2x2 format the bottom ones get quite warm. Currently, not in use I’m measuring the one of the bottom ones at 111F. If I stagger them the temperature seems normal. As they seem to be designed to be stacked, is this an acceptable temperature? During use I assume they will get even hotter, I’ll have to measure.Otherwise, does anyone have any suggestions? I got the Middle Atlantic 4U Sonos Amp rack as I thought they were actually spaced between the units but they are not. I’m now thinking about getting either the Penn Elcom 2U and using 2 of them to create a gap between the Amps or the Middle Atlantic 2U (they seem basically the same function).Anyone have this same situation and what did you do?
Over the past three weeks or so voice control of my Sonos Move has become erratic. I have already worked with the tech support desk via chat to disable/enable Alexa and some of the music services. Normally after a reboot everything works great. At some time later, saying “Alexa stop.” doesn’t work. A command to play a channel or music in Amazon is successfully repeated by Alexa, but the action doesn’t take place. If I go to my Beam and tell Alexa to play X on the Sonos Move that seems to work. The Play5s, Beam, and Sub work great in my office and don’t seem to have this issue.
I love Sonos, but I’m just having the worst experience with a return and I can’t seem to get any help. On April 25th after a support call, Sonos authorized a return and sent me the link. That link, however did nothing, and calling Sonos again they said that the system was being upgraded and I would have to wait. 5/13 I receive an email with a shipping label. I thought great, finally. I pack up the speaker and power cord and head down to UPS. Speaker shipped, I wait patiently. 5/17 I receive an email advising me that a shipping label will soon arrive and that I should send the speaker only...no other accessories. The email advises me to click a link to confirm my return. Head to the link, input the info click submit. ERROR. I chat with support, they say they’ve sent it off to the team and it will be 24-48 hours, keep trying in case it’s fixed earlier. I wait. After 48 hours I call support. They tell me they they have brought it to support and “don’t worry” (worry is not the
The other day I went to look at the web backend and found I could no longer get the matrix to display, has it been removed by Sonos? T_T Was nice to be able to troubleshoot using that…..
Just a suggestion to offer the option of a push notification to system-linked smartphones/devices when a speaker starts playing via voice control (Alexa/Google). The notification would ask if the phone should open the app to allow control through the smartphone/device.I often start playing music on my Sonos One through Alexa and want to make volume/pairing adjustments through the Sonos app. If there was a notification on my phone ready to tap and make adjustments it would the whole process smoother and more integrated. Many thanks.
I have been very frustrated with my Sonos + URC Mobile solution. The two are exceedingly difficult to work together. I am reaching out to the community to survey what they are using to connect their wired system with SONOS
Hi everyone. I have a Sonos Arc which I have recently paired with a Sonos sub gen3. There is a very annoying sound comming from the sub when the system is on but nothing playing. I have tried all the channels of my router but the noise is still there. I have tried to change the channel of the sub but the option seems to be innactive on the Sonos app. Any iddea of how to get rid of the noise apart from unplugging?
Here’s the setup: 22 sonos including stereo pairs, couple subs, 1’s, 3’s, 5’s etc. Roughly 3,000 square foot house with Orbi 850 mesh wifi. Sonos running off a gen 2 Boost on sonosnet. Boost is on 2nd floor, center of the house in a loft over top of all the sonos speakers. Other smart home stuff: About 35 Hue lights on hue hub, 50 Lutron switches on Lutron Caseta hub. Recently changed from sonos channel 11 (where all sonos speakers were OFDNI of 9), to sonos channel 1. (Has the best OFDNI numbers)I’m still having trouble with dropouts, especially if I try to change tracks with rooms grouped together. When changing tracks, it goes through about 3 minutes of speakers cutting on and off and then skips to subsequent tracks before It finally settles in.I usually group Kitchen/Fam, Big subwoofer (a connect with 2 large subwoofers attached), Dining room move, Family room (2 play 3’s and a sonos sub) Kitchen, and Living room together. Total of about 8 sonos speakers in continuous 1st floor ro
I’ve had my Sonos Roam for a few months but haven’t played it much because when I try to use it via Bluetooth, my volume constantly changes from whatever volume I set it to 0 after a random amount of seconds. It could be 2 or 20, but always resets back to 0.Any ideas?
EquipmentSonos Arc + Play One SL x2 + Sub (Gen 3), Apple TV 4K, HD Fury Arcana, LG-OLED65B16LAProblemI’ve had lots of issues regarding lip sync with the Apple TV, Arc and LG TV but they seem to be sorted with the purchase of the HDFury Arcana. Sometimes the x2 Play One SL’s become out of sync with the Arc.The sound coming from the Arc matches the TV and there is no lip sync issue but there is around a second delay between the Arc and the Play One SL’s. The clearest example is when you press left/right on the Apple TV remote that plays a feedback sound and then 1 second later, the rear Play One SL’s then play the sound.Turning the Play One SL’s off at the power for 20 seconds and then rebooting them solves the problem. I’m currently having to do this around once a week. Can anyone help please?
I have just purchased an Arc and Sub Gen3, paired with a couple of Play:1’s that I had lying around that weren’t being used.I cannot for the life of me get it working to get a decent sound out of it.The biggest issue is that I cannot turn on Dolby Digital Plus on my Sky box because the lip sync is out and no amount of adjustment on the TV, Sky Box or Sonos app makes any difference, when I leave it on Stereo PCM it sounds poor. I previously had an Onkyo Dolby Atmos amp and when that was outputting Sterio PCM it sounded significantly better than this. It was working perfectly but fancied a change, a change I am now seriously regretting.I work in IT so I consider myself to be reasonable competent with such things and I have literally tried everything. My TV is a 2019 model Philips Ambilight 55” 4K with arc output. The Sonos is connected to this HDMI port and the sky box is connected to another HDMI port. I have tried every HDMI cable I have in the house including the one that came with the
Hi allive got an older Epson Powerlite projector. Only audio out is analog rca. I’ve got a Roku 4K stick going into a 1x2 hdmi splitter then the split goes direct hdmi to the projector and I’ve got hdmi over cat5 extender to the beam. Im unable to get through setup as the beam isn’t getting an arc connection. I’ve got now digital out on the projector so that’s not an option. in theory l, shouldn’t this setup work? Maybe need to upgrade my extender?
...because the Arc combined with a sub and surrounds is currently an expensive paper weight. https://en.community.sonos.com/home%2Dtheater%2D228993/lost%2Dsurround%2Dand%2Dsub%2Dafter%2Dupdate%2D6868561
So I swapped out my WiFi router with the new system using the exact same name/password as the old one, which is what I am always recommending. To my personal embarrassment I could get no speaker to work after this. This is my small S2 system (One, 1, Bookshelf), but using the app to “fix up” the WiFi always failed immediately at the “attach your phone to the SONOS wifi network”.On my PC I had to re-mark the new network as Private of course, but that didn’t help me.I broke out the networking tools, and I could see from the DHCP table that none of the speakers were actually on the network at all.I tried wiring one of them via Ethernet, and while that got the one speaker working, the app would not allow the WiFi creds to be changed this way (this used to work on S1 last I tried it). Then I had a lightbulb moment: I powered cycled a speaker. it came up on the router DHCP list, and the Sonos apps could find it. I powered cycled the others, and it was all good.TL;DR if swapping your WiFi route
I have several Sonos' amps and connects, I listen to my Amazon Prime account quite a bit. For the last month or so, it will work just fine, then after a playlist is over (from "My Music") and I try to go to a new playlist I will get the error "Your Amazon account is missing required information..."There is nothing wrong with my Amazon account, all Sonos units are updated. I can listen to my Amazon Music account on my desktop (not Sonos) with no issues.I can even play my Amazon Music over my kitchen Sonos through Alexa. I have removed and reinstalled my Amazon account multiple times. What is going on? This is very frustrating, especially for how much I have invested in this system.
I have a Sonos Play 5 Gen 1, and always thought the sound was superb.I recently tried streaming a Led Zeppelin track (Stairway to Heaven) and realised that the right hand channel has little to no sound. (That track is very good when testing stereo sound since the guitar and flute on the opening sequence are completely separated with the guitar on the left stereo channel and the flute on the right). So, my Play 5 Gen 1 has very low output on the right channel. Almost silent but not quite. The left side speaker sounds fine as does the bass.I’ve yet to open it up, and I am an electronics engineer so a repair should be relatively straightforward if I can locate the faulty item. Has anyone else had this? Is it likely to be the amp that is faulty more than the speaker, or the preamp rather than the power amp? Just trying to get some ideas before I tear it down. I’m not using it as a pair with another speaker, it is stand alone and one channel of its own internal speakers is what is not workin
For the last couple weeks I have had problems using Alexa to trigger Spotify music on my Sonos Roam.If I ask Alexa to play a song, the Alexa voice will respond and indicate the correct song on Spotify, but then... nothing! No music comes out of the speaker.I can still play music on the Roam via the Spotify Connect or Sonos App. It just won't play when I use Alexa.I have reviewed all the settings, and Alexa has Spotify skill enabled. This used to work fine. What am I doing wrong?
We continually need to keep adding our products and then they drop again - and sometimes I cannot even add them. The process tells me to restart my router but I am not going to restart my router and mesh network every time I want to use Sonos. These speakers used to all work - now I cannot ever get them all to connect. Every time we want to use the speakers - either it says I don’t even have any speakers or another has dropped. I have tried adding each one about 4 times doing hard restarts and the same thing. What the hell did they do to their firmware??
Have a brand new sonos arc and recently it has been popping and crackling frequently when playing music loud as wel as the base sounding very hallow. Diagnostic is:1610518698please help I don’t want to return.
Hey All. Have extensive Sonos system. Wi-Fi is fine. Attempted all remedies. Diagnostic code is 79641770 suspect internal wi-if card died. If someone from Sonos is on this board. Let me know steps to replace / repair.
I have 2 HomePod minis, 2 Sonos Ones, a roam and several Airplay2 TVs. When I start playing on multiple speakers through iOS control center only the Roam will skip. It shouldn’t be WiFi interference because if I use the Sonos app to add the Roam it won’t skip.
