Troubleshoot, tune and get the most out of your system

SONOS went to great lengths (well, they stopped short of genuinely apologising to us for stuffing up an otherwise stable system) to say with the new app they were able and going to push out updates quickly to get us back to feature parity as soon as possible. We’ve seen nothing of the sort. Alarms are still missing key features (like grouping rooms), the system is still slow and clunky, there are no Android widgets, the experience is still messy, etc. etc.A schedule would be nice so we at least have some sort of idea when things might be released. My gut tells me there is more going on at SONOS than they are telling us. I wonder if a chunk of their DEV team has left? If things were running smoothly from an HR perspective 1) This wouldn’t have happened and 2) We would have had more app updates.Whilst I am on a spray, did everyone see the “new” Roam 2? Identical to the previous version with the only difference being it can pair to Bluetooth out of the box. LOL.
Posted previously but admins deleted.New app is worthless and made my system unusable. I rolled back to 16.1. If you do the same make sure you not only disable Auto updates on the app but also disable firmware updates on your system or an update will get pushed to block you from using the old version just like they did when S2 was launched
Updated to the new app today and all local media devices are no longer available. I thought it was a bad move from Sonos when the ‘S1’ and ‘S2’ apps came out which was basically saying the older Sonos products should be replaced. Now, we’ve got this update and one of the main reasons for using Sonos is completely gone.I feel like I’ve wasted time and money on these products that I can’t really get back.
After the latest Sonos app update, Trueplay is not working properly for the ARC + Sub + Era300/100 combination. After the two step Trueplay process, the app indicates that the tuning is complete, but there is no on/off button to confirm activation. So I guess the Trueplay is not activated in the system.Has anyone found a solution to this problem, specifically for the ARC, Sub, and Era 300/100 setups? Any insights or fixes would be greatly appreciated. Using: Sonos App version: 80.01.11 & iPhone 14 Pro
Currently, Integra, Onkyo, Sony & Pioneer have the “Works With Sonos” label. What does this really mean?Once a Sonos Port is integrated with these receivers, selecting the Room (and music) on the Sonos App that the receiver operates in will:Turn on the receiver Select the Sonos Port input Set the volume different than watching TV (generally much higher than TV, CD etc volume) You then use the Volume on your Sonos app to control volume (just like all other Sonos listening areas).Selecting all other sources like TV will return the volume back to a comfortable level. The receiver also eventually powers down automatically after use. That’s pretty cool. Some of these receivers can operate up to 3 Rooms in your home simultaneously (so long as their respective speaker’s wiring is run back to the receiver). Connecting an additional Port (Ports) to the receiver gives you those Room volume controls on the app (ie, Great Room, Bedroom, Patio). This eliminates the need for a $700 Sonos amp for
I can't connect my Play 3 speakers ( or boost) to new app. Done multiple factory resets. Anyone know if this is another bug? Can't get hold of support unless prepared to wait 70 minutes plus on phone.
On May 20, 2024, Maxime Bouvat-merlin, the Chief Product Officer of Sonos Inc (NASDAQ:SONO), sold 40,222 shares of the company (for $665,272). The transaction was reported in a recent SEC Filing on insider trading. Over the past year, there have been no insider buys and 17 insider sells at Sonos Inc, indicating a trend where insiders are choosing to sell shares rather than purchase them. He’s not silly. This new App is a Titanic disaster and who wants to keep their hard earned money on a sinking ship……?I find this all very sad. I have been a devotee of Sonos and a loyal customer from around 2002. I think probably from when the company first started. This new server based App is going to kill any ongoing sales relationship for me, with Sonos. Yes, I know they are working hard with updates to the new flaky App, but for me where I don’t have super fast Internet connection the laggy response of the new App means for me that the system is unworkable and can;t see it ever will be. I
I had issues with the old version of the app as it was so slow. This day and age, with a company with all the tech that sonos have why and we having to put up with such BAD (being polite) app. Is anyone looking to rectify the issues everyone is reporting. Looks like take your money and run. Everything is so slow and takes 2-3 minutes before anything plays on a speaker. The design of the new app is a mess and unclear. Because of the lag you press buttons which don't do anything. I purchased the move 2 to add to my system and unless I use alexa to play music I may as well not bother.
Regarding the issue of the Playbar not updating and connecting to the newly releases sonos app. I opened a ticket with Sonos. Obviously its the new app problems. But started a promising route and had to stop to make dinner last night. FACTORY RESET YOUR PLAYBAR. (which I’m sure you’ve done a lot) AFTER IT RESETS UNPLUG YOUR PLAYBAR DOWNLOAD THE OLD SONOS APP S1 CLOSE ALL APPS PLUG IN YOUR PLAYBAR BOOT UP THE S1 APP ADD THE PLAYBAR TO THE S1 APP BY MAKING A NEW SYSTEM IT WILL PROPERLY UPDATE THE PLAYBAR ---THIS IS WHERE I HAD TO MAKE DINNER--- BUT AT THIS POINT YOU COULD USE THE PLAYBAR TO WATCH MOVIES ETC., NEXT STEP IS TO UPGRADE FROM THE S1 APP TO THE NEW APP AND WHEN YOU DO THE UPGRADE FOR THE PLAYBAR IT SHOULD UPDATE THE SPEAKER. The reason it is not updating from the new app is that the factory reset takes the playbar back to the firmware from 2013. That was 11 years ago. It is too old and cannot update on the new sonos app so you have to first update it on the S1 app then
Three weeks after the new app was released, and the Sonos Community has become one huge echo chamber. 1000s of individual posts all saying basically the same things - nobody appears to read what's gone before. There's little constructive discussion of solutions, workarounds, or coherent error reports. Everything has become buried in a morass of angry, shouting, threatening financial penalties and overflowing landfills. Not a pretty sight or example for prospective users and customers.
Since updating app a week ago (Hate it!!!), i can’t add music to my existing playlists. How do i do this now?
The recent Sonos affair has caused many to threaten to or actually make a switch to other systems (such as Denon HEOS, Bluesound, etc). The Achilles heel in doing this, is that virtually every alternative is another proprietary system (with absolutely no guarantee that the system and its components will be maintained) where factors other than brand loyalty may play a determining role in what happens to often an expensive outlay.
I have a Sonos system for quite a few years now and I want to share my vey bad experience upgrading to the latest software app. With the new app, some simple features as just setting an alarm were gone. I could no longer set a radio station from my Sonos favorites on an iPhone 8. How can Sonos release a new version without all the basic functionality? I don’t understand how Sonos could release this app without making sure it had all the expected functionality. A very unhappy customer.
Clearly loyalty has little value to Sonos. They now have spend their R&D on a new headphones but created a rubbish app to support them and current products. This will seriously hurt the release. I will now not even consider the ‘Ace’ headphones while the app is a clear ‘double fault’ :-(
So granted, it’s pretty specific, and I’m sure will not apply to everyone, BUT I figure there is enough people that this may help and I know how important being able to access my music/playlists is to me… and how disappointing Sonos lack of concern for this issue has been... that I figured I’d share for whatever it’s worth… Hope I help a few people…I have been rocking out to my playlists all day and not being forced to use Sonos Radio to hear any music!! YAY!So after the latest update I was unable to access ANY of my music on my APPLE laptop, I tried numerous things and nothing worked. But today found this workaround using my Sonos Beam.Open itunes Look for the symbol in the upper right corner with a triangle and multiple circles, coming out of it, aka Airplay Click that For me, it opens items that are “synced” with my computer, so my Roku comes up, my Apple TV and…. my Sonos Beam that I also use for my TV’s sound. When I click to check ✔ the Sonos speaker (labeled “Family Room” for m
It’s no longer intuitive at all how to connect to an external source like the tv. Systems also no longer correctly automatically connect to devices live TV when turned on.
I upgraded two of my iPads to the new Sonos app release, and while I am not facing the challenges that many are facing, I do find the UI “looks” good but doesn’t “feel” good. iOS/iPadOS apps are supposed to feel native to the platform - that's why Apple provides robust APIs for UI design. The old app, while not perfect at least adhered to some design principals of iOS apps like the navigation bar at the bottom with the 5 buttons. That is now gone in the iPadOS and iPhone app. It makes no sense! This app does not feel at home on iOS/iPadOS anymore. I don’t want the app to be the same across all OSes - I want the app to feel at home on the devices I use it on. It should have a different design for Android and feel like an android app. It should feel like a Windows app on Windows, and macOS app on macOS. I get companies one this “write once run everywhere” cheap way of development but it sucks for users. One other thing on iPadOS - why is the “Your System” stuff a super-wide bar at the b
It's becoming clear that based on the past few updates, Sonos does not want its users to choose what to listen to.1. They removed the ability to add anything to the queue. 2. They removed the ability to play from your local library (definitely on Mac, not sure about Windows).3. Did they also remove voice controls? I thought I heard this, but maybe I misunderstood. These things all point to one thing: they don't want you choosing your own music. They want streaming services to be the only convenient way to listen to music without interruption. I assume this is intentional and they are pushing people to streaming/radio services because they get a financial incentive of some kind based on the number of users. It's too consistent to be anything but deliberate.
First, it can take up to 60 seconds to register any of my devices. I just have to wait to connect to literally anything.Second, grouping is a damn nightmare. It was simple and easy and now I have to search everything to find anything. Third, the room groupings now require you to slide right? So much worse. Fourth, connections are difficult to begin and end. Connect my office speaker? Better give it a minute or two if I want to switch it to my bedroom, sometimes playing two different songs at the same time. Both from my device. Don't even know how that happens.Five, the entire design became chunky like its 2006 or something. Like I'm a play school child.Every time I want to play music I have to fight my damn system. No joke, I'm looking into other options. Almost impossible to use without overwhelming frustration. Running cable from my record player would be preferable.I don't need replies to this, I'm just about ready to throw my phone across the room every time I want to listen to my
I just received my Era 300 speakers. I’m kinda bummed because the center driver is not in use when watching non-Dolby atmos content. Dialogue totally fades to the other surrounding drivers. It throws off the sound. I had the Sonos ones prior to this… for the price point i feel this speaker should be multifunctional and the front driver should still be utilized when watching NON-Dolby almost content. I love music and would have loved to experience the 300’s fully functional. 😶
I Know I used to be able to play from my network server, NAS, even when the interent was down, as long as the NAS was connect to the router an interent connection was not required. My internet when down this week *multiple times and I could access the APP and couldn’t play from my NAS. Is that a new thing or is there something i need to debug? NOTE: I had my soundbar connected to the TV toggle sound off and then switch to the Sonos ARC screen when I cycled router’s power. Why would a line in signal, through HDMI, even be impacted by internet changes?? is this all a new APP issue or is this just Sonos not caring about what customers want anymore?
Not only does the new app not work, making my entire home system unusable, the customer care phone number has a wait time of an hour. Literally 60 minutes that I have to spend on hold waiting for someone to answer the phone. How does a company with this many resources completely f**k up every aspect of consumer support?! My system works maybe half of the time, even before the new app was made available to us. This company is a complete joke. Too bad I have thousands of dollars sunk into the system and don’t have the money available to get anything new.
In der neuen Sonos App sind keine Dienste mehr vorhanden.Inhaltsdienste lassen sich nicht verwalten.Fehler 401 Wo finde ich eine Lösung? Moderator edit:Google Translate- There are no more services in the new Sonos app. Content services cannot be managed. Error 401Where can I find a solution?
Well since the app is all screwed up anyway I thought Id take a chance and “update” it again with the newest batch of bug riddled code and guess what? It’s no better, in fact now I have “floating text” that scrolls down the Home Screen of the app. Nothing seems to be fixed. Speakers are still randomly selected. Even though I’ve de-selected speakers they return to be selected. Volume is way too slow to respond to input changes. My music database is still no where to be found. This is a disaster and Sonos is doing nothing to help the customers.
I have 2 Sonos amps that power outside speakers in my backyard. I am trying to find a way to connect wirelessly between an outdoor TV and the outdoor speakers. If I add a Sonos sound bar of some type can I pair the sound bar to the amps to Allow all speakers to play what is on the TV?
