I have an alarm set that I can’t turn off! This is ridiculous. I have to unplug that device when I don’t want the alarm to go off.

Im in the same boat Simon … leaving town in 2 hours and for the life of me, I can’t figure out how to turn this alarm off so my neighbors don’t hear it for the two weeks I am gone. SONOS … WHAT AN EPIC FAIL. way to go at pissing off your customers. I am shocked they did this. NIGHTMARE.

Personally, I always thought the previous version was a complete disaster: bugs, bad design and a terrible UX. I was always saying to myself: "Sonos should take care of this as it's the core of the interaction with the system".

Now, this update. What a mess. Almost like there are no QA at the company (or they are not listening to them). And, on top of it, the time they are taking to fix it!

A disaster for their customer base when there are more competitors around!

Can’t you just power off your speaker whilst you’re away?

Powering off speakers is not a solution. I know people that own 7 or 10 speakers. The solution is to go around the house disconnecting speakers?

Sonos is a $2B cap company. They should take care of their customers and be ahead in innovation. Not going backwards to 15 yrs ago.

It’s a responsible thing for you to do if you’re away for two weeks …and more-so if you think an alarm might disturb your neighbour.

There are 3rd party Apps and the Sonos Desktop Controller that can do this, but the suggestion I made must surely be the easiest, you only have to switch off the speaker on which  the alarm is set.

Other users have apparently stated that the Alarm features will be in the next App update due May 21st. It seems it was in the initial release 80.0.0 but was withdrawn in the 80.0.04 update. So I’m guessing an issue was discovered that their engineers are working on at the moment and testing.

It is what it is and as you are leaving/travelling soon, the sensible thing is to just unplug the speaker affected.

That’s what I did. And get this… I sent a heated email to support@sonos.com and guess what… they don’t monitor that email address. I am so pissed off I will begin finding another music streaming solution. This was just so bad, I can’t look past it. LMK if you find a way to shut the alarms off. :)

I unplugged the Sonos unit all together. Pretty sad I had to do this. What a shitshow.

apkmirror.com is your friend… roll back to the old version and don’t accept automatic app updates.

I tried this without success. Downloaded to my PC and to my iPhone out of shear frustration to try and fix this. Should there be a program that pops up? I got nervous and deleted thinking there was spyware. LMK your thoughts and thanks!

Very annoyed with the new update. Same experience as for most people that commented here. Thinking about selling all my sonos products. Anyone has a recomm for an alternative system?

Anyone from Sonos going to respond to this thread? Fixes planned soon? Can I revert back to the old version of the app until you fix this one?

Is there a way to downgrade the app?  What a useless update. Do they want me to go buy HomePods?

I went to playstore and downloaded something that helped me go back to old version which us great but I keep getting it updated. I gave now turned off permissions so hopefully will be OK.  I will try and find sorce if this info, as I can't find it now

Hi.

Not being able to turn off the alarms is extremely inconvenient, and seems pretty basic. They should have withdrawn the update and restored the old app. The norm seems to be to release unfinished software and let users test it for more and more companies these days. I am extremely dissatisfied, and will rate the app and system accordingly.

Regards,

A very disappointed customer

Thanks for the link to the app, I didn’t know there was one for macOS.  That will work for me until they fix the iPhone and Android apps.

Absolute muppets… no alarms in upgrade.

This compounds issues like lack of hi-res streaming. With other more compelling offerings in the market it makes any new Sonos purchases difficult to justify.

Thankfully my wife did not update her App so I could actually turn off the active alarm! What a stupid thing to do. Would have had to reset two speakers if we had to have the same alarm for the rest of our lives!!!!

What. The. Actual.

There was nothing really wrong with the last version...and to put out what wouldn’t even pass for a beta version without a roll-back option is assinine!

The new look is infantile as well. Big round edged grey bubbles of nothingness… Where’s the intuitive, snappy industrial design? Who in your UX team let this POS out the door?

The app as it is now is patently unusable. I sincerely hope that there’s a public apology with the fix..and soon.

Maybe this will perhaps help some users that are having an issue with an existing alarm. It requires either a PC, or Mac, with the Desktop controller installed (available HERE)

See below:

Sonos app for macOS or Windows

  1. Click Alarms from the bottom of the Select a Music Source pane on the right side of the Sonos app.
  2. To edit an existing alarm, click the name of the alarm, then click Edit.
  3. Set your Time, Room, Music, Frequency and Volume settings.
  4. Click OK to save the alarm

Thanks! Your a life saver.. I overlook that one.. Now I can enable/disable or adjust it. :)

If anything they needed to add functionality and ease to the setting of the alarm what a joke to not have it on there I can’t turn my early morning alarm off now it don’t take much to replicate apps services

This is exactly the kind if poor managerial decision making and bad UX research and user testing that loses you customers.

Please bring the alarm back else I just won't buy any more of your products.

I do take some hope that the feature will be back, it is on this product roadmap for 21 May

What a joke. Has no-one from Sonos acknowledged this amateurish screw up?

I’m disgusted. Over £5500 spent on speakers which Sonos obsoletes when it chooses, the app has never worked well, they cut out and die for no reason when WiFi is perfect.

And now they release this diabolical app with no alarms, sleep timers, a terrible UX and everything that is bad about app development.

Sonos could be the best hardware and the best app and community in the world with just a little care.

Shame that they don’t.

Just logged in to add a comment to say that I’m incredibly unimpressed and inconvenienced by this. I’m a heavy sleeper and my iphone alarm doesnt quite cut it sometimes. Hope I wake up for work tomorrow 🙃
