Hi there, I just bought the Beam and was trying to put the Spotify volume up, using the volume up/down buttons on my late 2013 Macbook pro. I am using the newest version of Mac OS Mojave. Sound is good, but this missing feature is a drawback. It als sucks that you have to use an additional Software like SoTubes or hardware like Chromecast to listen to youtube music... Is there a software to make the volume buttons work? Thank you! Matthias
I installed Mojave yesterday and since then, the media keys on my Apple keyboard no longer control Sonos. They open iTunes. Previously, if iTunes was open, these keys would always default to operating iTunes, but all I needed to do was close iTunes, and if the Sonos app was open, these keys would control Sonos instead. Now with Mojave, they only control iTunes. Has anyone else run into this? Anyone have any workarounds or ideas? I've searched both Sonos and Apple forums but can't figure out a solution.
With all the recent reports and issues with the WannaCry ransomware I wanted to restrict use of SMB v1 on my home network. My NAS blocks this to the outside world but I wanted to secure things internally as well. I can configure the NAS to not support SMB v1 but this then prevents the Sonos controller app from seeing the share. When will Sonos support later versions of SMB? I had seen another thread on this somewhere and it sounded like it wasn't going anywhere. Is it possible to get an update on this please.
On this moment I have a Playbar, two play 3s and a sub. It sounds great! but it would be very nice if there is a future to make a setup, and create a shortcut to that setup. I give an example: In my case when I watch TV the volume of the Sub is under 50% of his power. The surround speakers are calibrated as left speaker near 0,6 m right speaker more away 3m. Volume 65% and in ambient modus With this settings I have the best surround effects. When I listen to music, the Sub is above 50% of his power. The surround speakers are calibrated as left speaker 3 m right speaker 3m. and in “full” modus With this settings I have the best sound to play loud music. Now when I want to play music I need to [open Sonos-app -- tap left corner -- tap left corner again -- tap settings -- tap settings room -- tab Livingroom -- tap advanced audio -- tap calibrating audio (and walk through the wizard) -- tap back -- tap settings SUB -- change the volume. -- tap back -- tap surround -- tap full --
There used to be a setting in the app that let you control the volume level of paired speakers separately. I can no longer find it.
Is there a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not? When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.
Reading through the forum several users have reported Sonos Controller App for Android to work before on ChromeOS / Chromebooks, however, it does not any more. I would like to request official support of ChromeOS/Chromebooks through Android.
acer chromebook 14 cb3-431 according to google this chromebook runs google apps . when i install the sonos app it will not connect to the internet even if sonos is running on my phone i would really like to link sonos up to my chromebook as my lap top is getting old . this problem only seems to have occured after the last uodate . before i could play the radio through sonos but could not find my external hard drive ? can any one help
So on the old ask forum wishlist items would get lost. Thought I would post a topic where people could vote their biggest wish for controller software improvements.
Hi, since I updated my speaker with the new software yesterday (14 July 18) it stops playing music when my iPhone goes into sleep mode. It only seems to do it when I’m playing music from my phone as I had the radio on today and it worked fine for hours. It seems to be since the Sonos controller was removed from my locked screen. Any ideas? Thanks Paul
It should be possible to chose from your speakers which to be included in an alarm. Also to be able to add "all rooms". Furthermore I'd like to see a customization of the volumes for this. I have a Sonos 1, a Sonos 3 and the Sonos Connect Amp. The latter is in general much lower than the active speakers, and as I also use it for my TV, I not only have to add this to the group when the alarm goes off, I also have to adjust the volume. This could be very simple with the above mentioned settings.
the sound on commercials is way too loud. How can this be adjusted to be consistent with the volume on the movie/programming?
I made a discovery today that will enhance my Sonos experience. I installed iTunes on my desktop computer running Windows 10. To my surprise, one of my Sonos players (Play5: 2nd generation) showed up in iTunes as an available Air Play resource. In short, I can direct iTunes running on my computer to a Sonos player which can then be grouped with my other players. I didn't know you could do that. I am now enjoying my iTunes library in "Party Mode" while using iTunes on my desktop computer to control what music I want to play. Also have it playing from my computer while simultaneously streaming to Sonos. Pretty cool!
Maybe they have been available for a while? But I only noticed when playing a podcast yesterday evening. It's been much needed and is a great help (I'm using Pocketcasts integration - don't know if it's specific to that?)
I have a SoundCloud playlist with over 325 tracks on it, when I pull it up on the Sonos app it only loads about a fourth of it. I've inquired about this before, please help! My diagnostic confirmation number is 500090104
I have a playbar, 2 play 5s and 2 subs. How can i connect the 2nd sub to the same room ? Please help. Anxious to see if this is achievable....thanks for your time.
878357858 Diagnostic- sleep timer will only set on second attempt? Any ideas it doesn’t work first time ?
I am building a home and am planning on having 6-8 zones, all of which will have a sonos connect. Is there a solution to provide a hard-wired controller in each zone to control sonos? I have tried iPort express but this is very unstable and has to be reset all the time especially if someone uses an android device to control the sonos in that room.
Sound become muffled, lack of clarity and layering after update. Diagnostic number: 1915351048
Hi There. Loving the Sonos One, great little speaker. Definitely going to invest in more eventually however I Do have a question. I DJ, often from my living room using a DDJ SX and Serato. This is connected to a system in the lounge, but I would love the ability to have this also casted to my Sonos One in the kitchen, and eventually all round the house. I have read a lot of stuff that says you shouldn't connect to Sonos directly due to the latency But is there a way to stream to my speaker whilst still being in my sound system at home? I found this, which I am going to test, but this looks like it would send the whole signal (or not at all as the signal comes outside of the computer, from the DDJ SX... so I would probably have to route it back in with the monitor channel or something) Any ideas anyone has would be great. Thanks in advance folks!
Hello forum, I need to set up a Sonos system on a small, but corporate network. We have 4 VLANS. I would like to isolate the Sonos on lets say it's own VLAN. The controller/Wifi is set up and the Sonos works fine, but the controller has a DHCP IP: of 10.69.6.56 How can I change this to a static IP of lets say 10.69.5.10 I can ping 10.69.6.56 but there doesn't appear to be web control to it. Can anyone point me in the right direction if it's possible? thanks
Recently the sequence in the listing of my spotify albums in the sonos app has completely lost its logic. For a while it has been placing the most recently played albums on top, but now it doesn't anymore. So now the ones that have been put on top remain there, and all other albums remain alphabetically, clustered by artist, as is my spotify setting, which hasn't been changed. It makes very hard to find certain albums in this ever growing list. Does anyone else have this problem and/or does anyone have a solution? Thanks
Hi, i updated my android sonos app a few months back (and regularly since), and the volume control for Sonos that used to be on the main volume buttons on the phone (blackberry keyone) is no longer there. I can only change the sonos volume within the app now. This is frustrating. Please can anyone advise me how to include sonos in the general volume button (with volume control for media / ring / alarm etc) Thanks in advance
So theres my house with an Asus AimEsh system, contains 3 routers AC88u as main, and 2 AC66Bu1 as nods. I have some Sonos components in separated rooms: - Living room - surround system: playbase, sub, 2x play 1 as sorrounds - Work room: Play 1 - Bedroom: Playbar - Bathroom: One In the living room one of the surrunds was accidently unplugged. After it I can't connect it back at all. I have tried the following: - restart router - disable airtime fairness - see this here in a topic like this - turn off nods - restart phone/wifi/application - unplug speakers - connect with eternet cable - add as a surround None of these helped. Always: Surround setup error: Theres was a problem adding the surround speaker. Make sure the surround speaker and playbase are connected to power. Yes ...both of them im listesing to music on the playbase. If i want to set up as a new speakerI see it in the app with serial number, color etc led flashing green. Then i try to set
I use folders for my playlists in Spotify. I have collected a lot of public playlists and put them in a variation of playlist folders. When Sonos does not support these folders, the list of playlists get rather long. This should be fixed!
