Onkyo and Works with Sonos.

I would like to understand the difference between plugging my Sonos port into the RCA inputs on the Onkyo and playing music and using the “Works with Sonos” setup in the Onkyo menu.

The only difference I see when “works with Sonos”  is enabled is that it messes around with my ability to control the volume on my Onkyo for ALL inputs.

I don’t understand the point and would love to be enlightened!!

It seemed to be features like detecing that the Sonos device was playing, turning the amp/receiver on and switching to the input used for Sonos. Seemed rather pointless to me, as I’m quite capable of turning my receiver on myself.
