Hi folks, I’m reaching out to try to prevent me making another expensive error! I’m a long term Sonos user and have 4xPlay 1’s 2 Play 5’s 1x Soundbar and 2x Connects. My music library is all NAS based and generally works well. I had until recently a Connect/HiFi separate amplifier combination in my study for use with the PC. This worked well for a long time until the connect died  and the hifi amp had been crackling for a while in one channel so I rashly purchased a Sonos Amp (the white one)  I posted previously about this, but suffice to say it didn’t meet my requirements as I had failed to realise that the Amp injected the same buffering delay into everything it played back even it there is no remote playing/synchronisation going on. So what I’ve had to do is rig up a separate cheapo amp and a speaker switch box in the study so that I can use the Sonos AMP alongside the PC with the same set of speakers - this has to say the lease caused me constant irritation  - mainly with myself fo

Hi.  I have a new Sonos AMP connected to 2 pairs of speakers with a volume control for each pair.  My preference would be to have the AMP set to a fixed volume (max) and use the seperate volume controls for control.  I know the fixed level is an option on the connect - is it possible on the Sonos AMP?

Hi everybody.   I have a Marantz PM6006 amp that I use with a turntable and a pair of speakers and I bought a Sonos Connect. I want to play the vinyl discs in multiroom, but also play the liquid music on the speakers. http://m.us.marantz.com/us/mobile/Products/Pages/ProductDetails.aspx?CatId=HiFiComponents&SubCatId=&ProductId=PM6006 I understand that the only way to send the audio signal from amp to Connect is using the RECORDER AUDIO OUT with a RCA cable to the ANALOG AUDIO IN Am I right? To do the opposite (play the music from Connect to the speakers, through the amp), I have 3 options: RCA from ANALOG AUDIO OUT OPTICAL from DIGITAL AUDIO OUT COAX from DIGITAL AUDIO OUT Which one is the best choice? My choice would be COAX, because I expect the DAC of PM6006 performs better than the DAC of Connect. I would not use optical, to avoid the double conversion: digital-optical-digital What do you think?

Compatible headphones for Sonos.

Hi evryoine,   As you can see in the image below I still have a quite old bose acoustimass 20 system. I bought the sonos amp in order to have my Bose boxes in a network. Can I replace the bose music center (right module in the pic below) with sonos amp the same way: connecting to output speaker sonos amp ? If not is there another way to integrate the bose acoustimass woofer using the sonos amp ? Or other possibilities ? Thx very much for your answer(s) !                          

Does anyone know how to connect the original bridge to a gen1 device?  Sonos “support does not seem to have this info anywhere (but there is lots of information about buying new stuff)   Sonos was cutting edge and awesome when it came out.  Then came the “upgrades”

I have a Russound A-H484 Multi-Source Multi-Zone Hub. I recently purchased a Sonos Amp, and have the speakers in the room directly connected. Works fine. I would like to connect the Sonos as a ‘source’ to the hub as to leverage the 2 external rooms via the CAT-5 and their own separate amps.  Is there a way to treat the Sonos Amp as a source to plug into #1 below, thereby then sending signal to the other two channels? (proposed with the dotted red lines). The goal would be to send signals to the 2 external channels. IMAGE ATTACHED FOR CLARITY. SONOS AMP TO RUSSOUND A-484 HUB     

Hello Sonos universe - I bought a playbase a few months ago. Love the sound, quality and design. Only problem is that I moved 2 weeks ago and the new room layout is making it a real challenge to keep the playbase. The playbar now makes a lot more sense from a space perspective, so I am wondering if there may be any opportunity to trade units if someone is in a similar but opposite scenario. I know its a long shot but looking at what options are out there. Thank you!

Is it possible to use two Sonos Port in the same network? Can i install a network cable into the wireless routers lan port from one Sonos Port (1) and install a network cable from Sonos Port (1) to the other Sonos Port (2) lan port? I want to connect two coaxial digital out into tow different dac?

Are there any issues, such as overheating in stacking one Sonos amp on another? I’m sure this question must have been asked but I was unable to find anything when searching on the question.

Loving my connect and turntable (Denon SB-400). The turntable has a built in switchable pre-amp and the connecting RCA lines have a third ground wire attached to their run, to run from the turn table to an external amp (according to the turntable instructions).   anyone know - If I’m using the built in pre-amp do I need to ground the turn table?    if I still do need to ground it, given the connect does not have a ground, what are the best options?   these maybe are more questions about the turntable, but hoping any connect experts might be able to help

Hello, I have issue to setup my Sonos Port.  I have a: Power amp  Denon pma 2020e connected to an amplifier (see below)  and  two floor speakers Amplifier Denon avr-x4200w connection to surrounds speakers, TV, PS4…    I would like to Stream my Sonos services (like Tunein Radio) to my two floor speakers    I do not hear  any music when I plug the Sonos Port on the Amplifier (Stereo or Dolby surround mode) , e.g on CD port.   I do hear music when I plug the Sonos Port on the Power Amp (as on photo joined)   The option 1) is much more convenient as the Amplifier is controlling  everything.    Any idea what what I am  doing wrong?  Thanks in advance for advices   David  

I just got a connect amp and wired it up with a pair of outdoor Polk Atrium 4 speakers. After I got everything installed I went to play some tunes... I had to have to volume to about 50% on the slide bar on the app before I really heard any music out of the speakers, and even then it wasn’t very loud and I was standing right next to the speakers. If I had the volume up to 80% or higher it got closer to a normal listening level, but didn’t leave much room for advancement. I typically listen to my play 1 or sound bar between 30-50% unless we are having a party. I’ve read other reviews where the Sonos amp and a pair of outdoor speakers is blowing their neighbors away, I don’t feel like mine are getting that loud. Do I need better speakers or is it the amp?? I bought the amp open box excellent condition from Best Buy, I just want to make sure something isn’t wrong with it before my 15 day return window is up. Any feedback would be appreciated!

I just put the Sonos:Amp when I was told it could pair with bluetooth items, namely my outdoor receiver connected to speaker on deck. I can't figure out how to do it though!!

How and what cable do I need to connect my Sony AVR (the STR-DN1080) to my new Sonos Port’s 12V trigger connector? 

Dear Sonos and Comminity, I have a new idea for Sonos: The idea is to launch a subscription. For that subscription you will be able to make your own sonos functionality with like Raspberry PI's. More specefic you build a website where you can enter all your software details like the name and password for your WiFi. Then your site can generate an image what you can put on a SD Card and then put it in a supported device like a Raspberry PI. Then you will be able to get like the sonos multiroom functionality with a Raspberry pi and your own speakers. I know it is not realistic to just give it to the world. So you can make a subscription for like €5 p/m for 2 speakers, €10 p/m for like 8 speakers etc. This would be so handy for people who already have a speaker system but want to make a sonos compatible one. Alternatives that also will be okay are systems like a Sonos Connect but based on a Raspberry PI without an amplifier built in. So we can connect it to an existing amplifier or an act

Hello, Not quite sure I understand the exact Sonos Port setup I need. I have one “old-school” stereo system: CD, vinyl, radio and amplifier connected to two floor speakers. I would like to : Stream my Sonos services (like Spotify and Tunein Radio) to my two floor speakers (and group them with my existing Sonos speakers in other rooms). Play and stream my CD or vinyl or radio to my other Sonos speakers in other rooms. Maybe what I need is a simple diagram to show me where to plug the Sonos Port with my existing stereo? Thanks.

Does anyone know if the AMP creates a phantom center channel for 2.1 music such as from a streaming service from Apple TV? Although my AMP is connected to my TV music quality is most important to me.  I’m using my AMP with ATV, Revel Concerta 2 speakers, and Sonos sub.  I would hope the Amp is smart enough to pick up 2.1 stereo and not create the phantom center except for movies.

I'd like to share my impressions of the new Sonos amp paired with kef LS50, id also like to share the frequency graphs i have recorded using REW to address some of the concerns on the amp being bright and the sub woofer crossover boosting the treble. Positive: The pair sounds good, I came from a much larger (older) stereo component setup looking to keep the HiFi sound but also have some of the always on convenience that I have found using the numerous PLAY:1s around the house. I now find myself listening to much more music as the amp is always on ready to go. It also sounds good for TV/Movies using ARC (with my previous setup I always found the voices too quiet and i didn't want a large AVR) even with just having stereo speakers - I feed the amp Dolby 5.1 from the Apple TV4, the Amp down-mix very well to include a DSP centre channel (this sounds noticeably clearer than feeding stereo), I am looking forward to adding rear surround at a later date. So, I’ve discovered a quirk I think the Sonos folks might want to be aware of.  I recently got a Port to connect a turntable.   I discovered that to make my turntable work properly I had to use the Compressed setting because my surrounds that are bonded to my Playbar/Sub would start to get glitchy and drop out. That’s all fine and dandy but when I switch it back to Automatic in order to stream the normal things like Pandora, Apple Music etc, my surrounds that are bonded to my Playbar/Sub start to get out of sync.  The only way I can get them back in sync is to try turning off the surrounds and back on or stopping the music for a few moments and then start again or some varying combination of these things.  I haven’t been able to nail down one thing that works all the time but eventually they start to sync back of after some tinkering.  Anyway, I’m willing to live with this but am hoping for some software fix at some point.  My main point is I think switching from Compressed to Automati

Hi there, I have a rather dated Sonos system (the original ZP80’s!), which I decommissioned years ago, after they output full-volume “digital noise” when I inadvertently played a higher-than-supported bitrate, and which blew up my very expensive Wilson Audio tweeters. I have a large collection of high-bitrate files, and while I don’t expect them to play on Sonos, it obviously would have been a lot better if the Sonos gear muted the high-bitrate audio, rather than outputting the incredibly harsh/shrill/loud tweeter-destroying signal that it did. I know I could always set up a second audio library - deleting all high-bitrate material - but that seems like a less-then-ideal solution. Does Sonos gear still behave in this fashion? I am interested in upgrading to the new Sonos Ports, but I’m not willing to risk further damage to my high-end system. Thanks for any insights ...    

I have a new Sonos system all set up and want to connect my receiver so I can play CD’s. I was told to add the CONNECT to the sonos system which I have done . I have connected the CD player to the receiver (going out to in) and now I am assuming, I need to go “out” from the receiver and in to the CONNECT. I dont see any outputs on the receiver to use to do this. Can you advise?    Also, once this is sorted, how do I then see the CD player and where will I control it via the sonos system?   Thanks,   Cindy

We got a new router today and the name of the wifi network changed. I tried to update my Sonos Amp with the new name but it couldn’t seem to find it. I saw that you needed to update the app to the latest version but couldn’t see that the app needed an update. So I deleted it and re-downloaded it from the cloud. I launched the app and have two choices: set up a new Sonos system or Connect to an existing system. I hav tried both and neither work. I think I can’t connect to the exisiting because it is on a different network (the old name) When I try to set it up as new, I can’t get pass the button press. It finds the Amp but the next screen says to press the button on the bakc. I have done this multiple times and get a screen after about 45 seconds that says “Button press not detected.” What should I do? Should I do a factory reset? How do I do that? Thsi was so easy to set up initially. Can’t understand why this is so screwed up. Should be easier than this.

What is the difference between the older Bridge device and the new Boost device? Do they perform the same function? Is there any functional improvement in upgrading from the Bridge to the Boost?

I recently did the “trade up” program and got rid of my 15-year-old Sonos amps, replaced with the Connect:Amp. What I notice is that with the prior hardware I could adjust bass, treble, loudness.  Now that new components in place, I am no longer seeing that option. Just me, or am I missing something?
