Does anybody know just HOW “improved” the DAC is in Port vs Connect? I’m considering adding a port to another system, but not if I’m going to end up feeling the need to run it through a better stand alone DAC like I do with the Connect.

It mentions that if the Port is not exactly what you want, then you can return it within 100 days. So my suggestion would be to try it and see.
If you think you hear sound improvements via an external DAC for the Connect, the Port will sound better than the Connect, both compared standalone.
If, as many find, an external DAC makes no audible difference, the Port will sound the same as the Connect.
