Sonos Ace

Everytime I try to use the Sonos Ace I have to spend 30 minutes trying to get sound to come out from them and get nothing. I’ve tried switching bluetooth on and off re-pairing, turning off TV swap and nothing works consistently.

I don’t know how Sonos could have messed up simple bluetooth connections so much, and multipoint seems to be a complete joke.

This morning I’ve tried repairing, switching on/off, everything, and still no sound. These will be getting sent back for a refund.

I just tested my Ace with my iPhone and MacBook Pro. The Ace seamlessly switches from each device. I started playing Apple Music from the MacBook Pro to the Ace. Then stopped the music on the MacBook and started Apple Music on my iPhone playing a completely different song. It worked perfectly.

I suggest using the “Forget this device” feature on both devices and reboot. Then redo Bluetooth pairing.

I should clarify that it appears the issue is with macOS and iOS devices. My Ace is connected to an iPhone and a MacBook. However, if I want sound on the iPhone, I have to manually disconnect the connection from the MacBook, even if it’s turned off and the lid is closed!

This results in an unusual situation where I can attempt to play music or videos while the Sonos app is supposedly connected to my iPhone. Nevertheless, the action affects the content on my Mac, even if the Mac isn’t playing anything (content on pause while trying to get sound from the iPhone via the Sonos Ace). Therefore, the iPhone multipoint connection should be the primary priority.

Remarkably, the hijacking of the multipoint connection by the Mac occurs even if the MacBook has been turned off all night and remains unopened or switched off. Consequently, I’m left without sound in my headphones if I try to listen to my iPhone unless I manually switch on the MacBook and disconnect the connection.

Multipoint functionality works flawlessly on my Sony WH-1000MX4 headphones. I’m puzzled as to why Sonos’s more expensive headphones can’t replicate this feature.
