Sonos Move charging dock replacements

My Sonos Move failed charging dock replacement

It charges Ok via USB-C, using the same mains socket outlet, so I know it’s the docking base. I also measured the voltage across the dock pins and it is zero.
I bought it new from John Lewis in May 2023 but they no longer stock this older model and so under their warranty I can only get a refund or a same-price alternative or pay the extra £140 for the newer Move 2; non of which are appealing to me.
Do Sonos provide replacement charging docks?

Hi @MarViss, welcome to the Sonos Community!

We still sell the Sonos Move charging base alongside the Move 2 charging base on Sonos.com, you can find it here: Sonos Move Wireless Charging Base

If you’re looking for a replacement, then you can always reach out to our support team to discuss your options with them. Even if you’re purchased from a retailer, you can always contact us to discus potential replacement options.

I hope this information helps!

@Jamie A

One question… Though there still is the Move1 charging base available on the Sonos shop, I understand the description of Move2 charging base like that it can be used for both… Move1 and Move2.

https://www.sonos.com/en-us/shop/move-2-wireless-charging-base

Move1 base instead can only be used with Move1…

Is that correct? The Info about Move2 base just says its design is optimized for Move2. The output is 15V /3A… Move1 base is 18V /2.5A. So it seems to me that Move1 can handle 18V or 15V input and also fits to Move2 base contacts positioning.

If that's right… @MarViss I would recommend buying the Move2 base. So if your Move1 dies in future, you will have a second base for a new Move2.

Btw… also speaking for that theory imo is the fact, that the Move replacement battery also does fit for both Move generations.

You’re right, I don’t know why I glossed over this. Since they’re the same price then it would be worth going for the Move 2 charging base over the Move’s charging base. If @MarViss is going to buy a new charging base, then going for the Move 2 option is better, though it’s still worth checking with support if they can assist.

Yeah that’s correct, we have a support article that talks about replacing the battery for the Move and Move 2 which mentions using the Move 2 battery will give a 25% battery life increase to the Move.

@Schlumpf @Jamie A many thanks for your helpful responses. I contacted Sonos Support via the Live Chat, and this time got through to chat with a support team member who was very helpful and ultimately addressed the issue with the provision of a replacement charging base (not sure if it will be a Move 1 or 2 base).

@MarViss

Good news… 👍🏻 I think replacement then probably will be the original Move1 charging base, because it’s still on the store and Sonos might have them in stock.

I’m glad you were able to get this sorted with our support team. The replacement is likely a Move 1 charging base as @Schlumpf said, unless support said otherwise; we do like-for-like replacements unless we no longer manufacture the product, like in the case of some Gen 1 to Gen 2 products.

I would like to thank Sonos Support for their great service.
I received my replacement Move charging base (a Move1 charging base ) by next working day delivery via DHL and I can confirm that it fixed the issue; my Move1 now charges on the new base. Very happy 😃
