Should I update or continue waiting?

I have not updated Sonos since before the May update, and my NAS music library access & functionality is great (as it has been before & after moving my personal music files from old NAS to new NAS in 2021).

Please let me know if you (customers) are still having Music Library issues after post May updates?  And your opinion on whether I should update or continue waiting?  thx

Did you find what you were looking for?

If you don’t need to update there is no pressing reason to.

Not everything is back to where it should be but things keep slowly improving.

Wait.
Not all old features are back. There’s no new features except zones, which is half baked at best.
Still some stability issues.  = no compelling reason to upgrade you ain’t missing anything but a headache.

Zones is a feature from Sonos Pro that is intended for business settings. For that use it is a pretty decent feature.

They gave it to home / non-Pro users as it was easy to do and addressed a few user requests. To be a really good fit for most home users it does need more features but that is not likely to be a Sonos priority.

Definitely do not update.

There are still far too many issues for media library users, namely;

 no playlist creation or editing unless you use the PC version of the app

compilation albums are fragmented and repeated in the album view

no alphabetic scrolling through Artists or Albums

media library album tracks randomly missing from the artists & album views (they are all present on the folder view). There is speculation that this is a tagging issue but this was never an issue in the past so why now? and who wants to go through their entire library re-tagging everything.

sluggish controls

line in (if you use it) randomly missing

you cannot control your sonos equipment offline with the new android / IOS apps

many of the features available in the PC version are not even listed in the Android and IOS apps

its unclear how many system management functions (such as rescan library or network settings for example ) actually do anything

in no way do I have an exhaustive list of what does / doesn’t work but I am so frustrated that after 9 months of updates so much is still wrong that I certainly wish I was in your position and hadn’t updated at all

my pet design issues are that they;

have split the Sources and Services which wastes so much screen real estate when they are all just media sources to me

have your sonos components unnecessarily hidden under a drop down list when they are the very first thing that you probably want to select

too easy to hit play / pause on the bar at the foot of the screen when scrolling (which you have to do a great deal !)

have mixed Playlists and favourites into a jumbled mess
