There is a thread on this specific to LG televisions. When using a Panasonic 4K player and outputting DTS as LPCM, Arc only plays in stereo.
I do not want an Arcana, I’m looking for the simplest possible setup.
I want an 85 or 86” TV. Are any Arc users having success with another brand of TV that successfully passes multichannel surround LPCM from the Panasonic to their Arc? (Dolby Vision is a plus, but that knocks out Samsung)

Are you open to using a different brand UHD player like a Sony instead of the Panasonic?
No, because only the Panasonic allows you to output Dolby as Dolby, and DTS as LPCM, without having to switch from disc to disc. If the Sony does the same I’d love to know!
Discontinued disc players (Samsung and Oppo) allowed you to output DTS as Dolby. I may be forced into an old Samsung player (no Dolby Vision) if I can’t find a TV that will do the above. eBay Oppo players are big big bucks.
I’m not a gamer either, so no consoles serving as my Blu-ray player.
My Sony X800M2 player with my Sony A8H “allows you to output Dolby as Dolby, and DTS as LPCM, without having to switch from disc to disc”. The problem with the X800M2 is you have to manually activate and deactivate Dolby Vision (it does not autodetect).
Jimmy, you are using your tv to do all the switching, and using its earc connection? What are you using to stream Atmos from Netflix and other sources? How does LPCM sound through your Arc?

Yes, I have nothing connected to my tv except my blu-ray player (via hdmi) and the Arc (via hdmi e-arc). I stream Atmos (DD+) directly from the tv’s apps. I currently subscribe to Ultra HD Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV+ (the app, not the device). Atmos TrueHD from blu-ray discs and Atmos DD+ from streaming both sound great to me. I use Sonos surrounds and a Sub and usually bump up the surround levels a bit for LPCM content from DTS encoded discs. With my equipment, I have not had the problem others are experiencing where the Arc noticeably fails to correctly down mix LPCM 7.1 and channels are missing are misplaced. Sonos is expected to address this in its next software update.
edit: I also bump up my surrounds when I listen to YouTube TV, because they only send stereo 2.0 with all live programming. Sometime it helps, sometimes not. Depends on the content.
What settings on your player do you use to output only DTS as LPCM?
The benefit of using only one manufacturer is the default settings should work best. The RS232C Control setting was recommended to me by a Sony employee.

Via the Consumer Electronics Control (CEC) feature of the HDMI connection. The Sonos Arc tells the other devices what it can handle (Dolby, LPCM, etc.) and they react.
