I ordered a pair of Sonos ERA 100 which I want to connect as stereo pair. I know using Sonos App, it can be paired to stereo. But I also want to use those pair with my MacBook and Sony Bravia 3. Is it possible to pair them with these devices using WIFI?

To make it simple. Once I have paired both Sonos Era 100 using my iPhone App, will these speakers work as stereo when connected with MacBook and Sony Bravia 3 TV using WiFi?

Moderator edit: Combined posts

Once they are paired using the Sonos app, you can Airplay to them from your MacBook.

You can also choose Bluetooth audio out from your Sony Bravia 3 to connect to the Era 100s by Bluetooth. (Bit of a hassle each time, but do-able.)

The speakers will stay stereo until unpaired into single speakers.

Thank you, Bravia 3 has WiFi, so I would rather prefer to connect it using WiFi over Bluetooth. Is WiFi connectivity hassle free?

You can’t connect the TV to the speakers by wifi.

May I ask you why? Bravia 3 has built in WiFi

The TV can output to speakers by wires and by Bluetooth. It does not have audio out via wifi.

The TV’s built-in wifi is for receiving wifi signals (such as software updates and for streaming on its built-in apps), or for casting your phone screen to the TV - it does not use wifi for sending audio.

OK So I am using a pair of Era 100 on stereo. Its been 4 days now. Its amazing. But sometimes the sound in left speaker disappears for fraction of seconds. It doesn’t happen frequently, just random, sometimes 5 minute, 10 minute. So its not a big deal, but is there a way I can fix it?

Can you confirm you set them up in the app to work as a stereo pair (using the pairing process), rather than just selecting them to play at the same time? I’m sure you have as that was in your original post but just checking before extending any advice.

yes in Sonos App settings I added the second speaker as stereo pair. But just now the second speakers stopped so I removed it from pair and now its unable to detect when I am trying to add it again through stereo pair

Try turning the missing speaker off at the wall, then force close the Sonos app. Then turn the speaker back on again, and let its light go white (hopefully it will), and reopen the app.

See if the speaker then appears again in the app as an individual speaker, and try setting up again as a Stereo Pair.

I think I realized the issue is with Wifi connection.

I reset the both the speakers and then in app created a new profile and its working fine. Thanks. But now the equalizer is disabled where I want to configure bass and terrible

So under Settings → ’Room] → Sound, the EQ line is greyed out?

Yes sir, but I think it's working now. I realized that the root cause of the whole problem was WiFi signals

That is very odd. I wonder whether you might download the Windows or Mac version of the Sonos app from https://support.sonos.com/en-gb/downloads and see if the EQ is accessible under Settings → †Room] there.

If it’s not, then the speakers may need to be turned off and on again at the wall.

If it is, then it points to your iOS app which might need you to

  1. force close and reopen, and/or
  2. log out and back in again, and/or,
  3. uninstall and reinstall the app

Otherwise, I’ll hand this over to another learned forum member!

OK, after restarting the speakers equalizer worked, thanks. I brought the speakers closer and the frequency of sound disappearing on second paired speakers reduced. I think besides Wifi it has something do with the streaming channel that I am watching,

Just to note, Sonos speakers when stereo paired do not connect to each other. You can stereo pair speakers that are in opposite ends of the house, if you so choose! Stereo pairing them just ensures they each get sent the respective L or R signals, via wifi.

If one speaker in the pairing is dropping out, it could be that the wifi signal isn't reaching it well enough. In one of my rooms for example, I have two speakers stereo paired - but because of the layout of the room, one is closer to my Deco wifi node in the hallway and the other is closer to the wifi node in my living room. So (as evidenced in the Deco app) they get their music streams from different wifi nodes (but obviously still in sync).

Is it possible the speaker that is dropping out has a weaker wifi signal whereas the other is better connected to wifi?

The left speaker that’s dropping out is slightly closer to the router compared to the speaker on my right. While setting up stereo pair its the right speaker that the application took as the main speaker and is used for connecting the devices using Bluetooth, which never drops voice.

Whenever I start playing any streaming channel in my MacBook, the sound first comes in that right speaker and it takes a second for both speakers to start playing sound as stereo pair.

Can you go to Settings → General Settings → About Your System, and scroll down to the details under each of your stereo speakers. Are the ‘Version’, ‘build’, and ‘Hardware version’ all saying the same numbers for both speakers?

Sure I will do that once I get back home

Looks same except for the hardware version and color
