Ok, so I heard that Sonosequencer (iphone aop) could allow you to connect a second sub mini to your main system (In my case, an arc, two era 100’s and the first sub mini).

I went ahead and bought a 2nd sub mini and tried it out.  It took some time, but the Sonosequencer app finally reconized the 2nd sub and I connected it.

It sounded AMAZING!

Whats even cooler, is that both sub minis appeared in the native Sonos app and could be both controlled (gain, etc.)

I was ready to keep it enjoy this new setup, but my experience told me to make sure that if it got mangled somehow, I could always get the whole system back up and running  again with two sub minis.

The second time was NOT a charm, and the Sonosequencer app could not ever find the 2nd sub.

Bottom line:  I had two sub minis working with my system and LOVED it, but since it’s not reliable to set up with Sonosequencer, I’m returning the 2nd sub mini and getting my $500 back.

Just reminded me how disappointing it is that Sonos does not support two sub mini’s through their own app naitively.

Such a stupid business move.

And no, I’m not going to throw away my original sub mini and get a ported sub gen 3/4, because it supposedly makes more base (though not by a hell of a lot according to this guy >

Additionally …  I prefer the sound of a closed sub woofer system vs. the ported ones.

Hey Sonos: Thanks for saving me money, you ***********.

Maybe the lack of stability is why Sonos does not offer this themselves?

You also mentioned recently that the Arc regularly disappears from the Airplay list.

You should probably sort out your network issues if devices cannot be discovered on multiple occasions.

Those airplay issues resolved with the latest sonos firmware updates.  And while Sonosequencer could not see the second sub, the Sonos app could see both subs as devices.

And don’t get me wrong here, I absolutely love Sonos stuff. Besides the system with the Arc, Era 100’s, and the sub mini, I also have a pair of Move 2’s, and a pair of Sonos Plays.  None of them have ever had airplay issues so it’s not a ‘network issue’.

I also have a Denon 350 that supports Airplay and it is also always visible in my airplay list of sound devices.  The Arc system was the ONLY one that sometiems had issues.

That’s the reason why I do get a little fired up about these things because I really am a big  fan of Sonos!

Sonos supports dual sub 3’s and 4’s, so I’m sure that’s not it.  There should be no reason why a sub mini would be ‘unstable’ while a larger sub would not.

So the problem was with SonoSequencr. This could have been because the discovery page in that app needs manual refresh. I’m just guessing, but the developer’s reddit is active and you may have been able to resolve your problem there, rather than return the sub mini.

Complaining to Sonos about an unsupported 3rd party app not being able to accomplish a configuration Sonos has never supported, nor ever claimed to support is silly.  Go complain over at SonoSequencr.
