I have sonos set up in my restaurant and need to be able to play business subscription music so that we comply with the fees and royalties of playing recorded music. What can I subscribe to that will play through your system?
I tried the blue sound pulse 2 at my local dealership which also carries Sonos and heos. In a what hifi review they mention slight coarseness at higher volumes. To my ears the speaker simply distorted with the music I was using to test it out, it kinda fell apart. Then I tried two play 5's in stereo and with the same music max volume and there was no problem. But man it was loud. ? The specific track I use is Achilles, agony and ecstasy in eight parts by Manowar. It is really bass heavy on the kick drums and goes deep. I have at home a Bose soundtouch 130 which simply falls apart if I go near 70% on the volume with that particular song. This says a lot about Sonos quality when pushing things to the limit. I don't necessarily use this level of volume but I like my equipment to be able to do what it says on the spec sheet. Kudos Sonos.
Hi all, I would like connect my Bose SR1 soundbar with Sonos. Will I need Sonos Connect or the Sonos Connect:Amp? Currently, I cannot get any sound out of my Bose soundbar, which is connected to the Sonos Connect being in turn connected to my internet router. Is it my stupidity or just the wrong set-up? Cheers, Twoshade
I've got two Play5 as a stereo setup in my living room. Now I like to extend my system with a SUB and the new Soundbar. Unfortunately Play5 is not supported to setup a 5.1 system but this is another topic... Both the Play5 as a stereo setup could connect with the SUB and also the Soundbar could be extended with a SUB. Is it also possible to use the SUB together with the Playbar when watching a movie and using the same SUB with my pair of Play5 when listening music?
Hello, I have had two play5s for the past few years with no issues. However, recently I have noticed that both units in seperate rooms seem to be attracting ants?! The ants seem to be living in the speakers and even though I spray them they seem to just come back. The ants leave little black flakes, I'm wondering if they are eating rubber or something else in the speaker, has anyone else seen this issue?
I connected my new connect and play 1 speakers throughout my house and can stream music on all the speakers individually just fine. However, when I connect my Audio Technica lp60usb to the connect (which has a built in preamp), I cannot get the sound to come oit of the speakers. I go through the app, choose the in line option and try all the different combinations of the sinos equipment and nothing, even though it shows its playing. I am hoping I am just doing something stupid and not clicking one thing. Anyone have ideas?
I need Sonos or Sonos-compatible wireless headphones. Any suggestions?
So I'm well aware that you can connect a Sonos Play:1 directly to a Mac via ethernet to play music off that laptop directly to the speaker. No Router or Wifi involved... Well thats what other posts seem to allude to. But nobody has actually specified HOW. :) So whats the step by step process? I've turned off my wifi on my mac, plugged my Sonos directly into it, and opened the Sonos app... It just tells me to connect to a wifi network, and won't attempt to find my Sonos that is plugged in. I turn the wifi on, sonos still connected via ethernet , nothing happens. How do I get this to work folks? 🙂
I was not too sure where to post this. 12 volt trigger threads seemed old so I started a new one. Context: ZP90 hooked to a Rotel power amp. I want Rotel to go on standby when no music is played. I read multiple threads and the consensus seems to be that this type of integration is either costly or not reliable due to extended silence between tracks in some records. Here is what I did: Parts: Xantech Current sensing block CSM1 Xantech Power supply 781RG Xantech Audio Sensor Module SMAUD01 Altronix 6062 Multipurpose timer Total Canadian landed cost $110 I originally installed the Xantech components only. So when music was sensed, a 12 volt trigger would fire to the rotel amp. I quickly found the solution to be unusable as the Xantech timer is only 15 seconds and probably less and therefore the amp would trigger on-off multiple times either at end of a track or during silent parts of classical music. I then added the Altronix timer. This is where it came all togethe
My house has a speaker system wired into the rooms which was done by the previous owner. I am trying to figure out if I can use the Ethernet connection in the back of the Play5 to those speakers. I have a stereo amplifier that I can connect to which then connects to the speaker. Originally the system was connection to a stereo system which played CD, Radio and I think the TV.
Hey - Whats the best way to do this? When I try and connect these to through my TV optical output A: I'm not getting dolby 5.1 and B: I get weird beeping noises through the playbar. This happens ONLY on HDMI devices, never through the TV freeview Sonos was not much help with this, on the phone for half an hour and just suggested a problem with the TV output (GREAT!) Music and regular TV plays great but its a bit upsetting that a £1300 system is struggling with this. So what are my options? A new TV, but how do I know if it will pass the audio through correctly? Ive tried a cheap optical splitter, but that still beeped through the PS4. perhaps because it was cheap and it was still thinking it was receiving the TV signal? Who knows! A hdmi optical splitter? Again, there are so many of these and they all look so cheap and need remotes, not the best solution.... Current setup; NVida Shield TV and PS4 into hdmi > Samsung UE39F5000 TV optical out into > Sonos Pl
I just read a comment saying that it couldn't be done, but I wasn't sure. I've got a sound bar and sonos sub hooked up to my TV and had planned on adding two Play 5's and giving my living room the ultimate surround sound feel. Is this possible, or do I have to use Play 1's?
My Play 5 do not start when switched on. There comes a white light for a few seconds and no more happens
Question ... If I currently have no Boost or Bridge does that mean all of my speakers are just running off of my Wi-fi network?
Hello, My Sonos collection is growing and I now have several speakers, located throughout my home. One thing I wanted to confirm is whether or not the Sonos speakers can be damaged by being played at full volume? Or are the speakers designed to be used at high levels and won't go to a level that could damage them? I generally only listen to them at medium levels but I wanted to check before having a party and risking damaging any of them! Many thanks
Do the speakers in new Sonos products have a break in period? As with say guitar amplifier speakers sound warmer after being broken in? I just purchased 2 Play 5's over Christmas and was thinking about letting them play while I was at work? Is there any benefit to doing this? Thanks.
Hi, Just bought a sub from someone and one of the speakers appears too be blown, pretty gutted as I had read that that was near impossible on these subs. Would I be able to buy a new speaker from Sonos? just looking for some options. I am considering opening it and seeing if it can be repaired, anyone have any advice on this please. Thanks in advance from a very wet and cold Dubai
How wel do the 5's do with metal music. Powermetal (manowar and such) and also heavier stuff like scar symmetry and meshuggah ? Thanx Geiri
Why wouldnt you connect your cable/satellite/optik tv to the playbar via the optical link, rather than via your TV as the instructions seem to imply. If your TV doesn't have optical, wouldn't this connection method work? I'm Considering the purchase of a playbar, and even having read acres of tech stuff, forums, threads, reviews and comments and I can't find any reference to this way of connecting. Apologies if this is a dumb question....
Hi, I got 3 play:1 registered, but I never received the email confirmation. I'm sure I used my personal email account, but it is not registered. I created a new account, but non of my devices shows up in the registered list. What can i do? Jose
Does anyone know (not guess) if having a sonos speaker right beside or in some cases underneigth (less then 1 foot in all 3 cases) things like a A) Phillips HUE bulb/GO 😎 Phillips HUE Hub and C) an Ecobee remote sensor would create wireless interference? In all three cases although they can be seperated it is tricky for those locations. I do have dropouts in mid song and errors with wireless buffering. I have been told by support that I do have wireless interference in my house as I have 19 Sonos units and about 40 HUE lifts as well as ecobee + 4 sensors and an August smart lock. I have all my Sonos on 1 channel and all my HUE on another with my router on the 3rd (1,6,11) and have changed them with no real improvement. I was wondering if the speaker placement of sonos speakers with another wireless product like the ecobee or HUE would be directly worsening the interference even if other channels. Many thanks in advance
Seems that Sonos is introducing new hardware on Tuesday. The rumored Playbase seems set to arrive. Really interested to hear the sound coming out of that unit.
When we use our Sonos, our wifi slows down. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
I have a Sonos 3:1 setup (SUB+PLAYBAR) in my living room for watching TV. I want to expand that system to include surround... AND.... I also want to expand the system in the living room so that when I'm not watching TV, but listening to music, the sound in the living room will be big and full.... So...on the surface it seems like a single play-5 in the living room would make the living room rock...not caring about stereo. However, the Play-5 won't satisfy the surround add-on to the TV. So then I think two Play-1's or two Play-3's. Obviously the 3's are going to sound better, but it might be overkill, considering I already have the SUB and the PLAYBAR in the same room. What are your thoughts? Anyone think adding a couple of PLAY-1's to my existing SUB and PLAYBAR will come close to the sound of a single PLAY-5 in the same room for music, while giving me surround for TV? Any other suggestions about what you might want to do so the living room sounds awesome for music li
Here's an interesting podcast on Scientific American: https://www.scientificamerican.com/podcast/episode/human-ears-can-hear-better-than-cd-quality-just-barely/ Can better than CD quality music be streamed? What would be needed to make that happen with our current technology/equipment now? Mastering How should the music be mastered? SACD?, 24bit/96KHz (or higher) WAV?, other options? Possible equipment setup If I want to use headphones in this scenario I would imagine using a DAC like a Chord Mojo and a decent pair of earphones/headphones (Shure SE846) Sonos equipment setup I have a pair of Play:5 set up in stereo and I stream FLAC from Deezer Elite - sounds pretty much like a CD to me. Interestingly, according to this, Sonos supports audio files up to 16 bit and 44.1 kHz: https://sonos.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/80/kw/16bit/related/1 Just curious: Sonos, is that a software or hardware limit (or both)?
