Sonos desperatly need to employ some specialist back end network connectivity engineers. The amount of time my systems just straught up dissapear from the sonos app just cooks me. Absolutly nothing wrong with my wifi network at all. Everything other device on the wifi works no issue. But sonos just cannot get it right. How difficult is it to get some new firmware out to sort this s*** out. Moderator Note: Modified in accordance with the Community Code of Conduct.
Spotify is about to launch lossless sound quality, I hope Sonos PlayBase can support. Sonos Playbase has not supported the lossless music of Apple Music, unfortunately.
How much have your senior team received in remuneration since your ongoingly atrocious app was ‘updated’?
After 10+ years and 18 current devices (and numerous others I sold so I could upgrade), I'm not sure this will be the solution going forward. What drew me to Sonos in the first place was that it seemed committed to being “brilliant at the basics.” However, if you can’t make the sound come out of the box in a consistent way after I hit a button, then THAT’S a problem. I am not minimizing the challenge of doing this… I know it’s hard with corporate, shareholder, technology, tariffs, labor, blah blah. But I bought this system exactly BECAUSE at one point it worked and you had this figured out. And now it isn’t (at least not as well). It’s a psychological barrier for me to overcome and move on, but I’m almost there. I still believe this is a strong product and company, but if it can’t figure out something as simple as a mac controller (after 10 years of looking at the same interface), then I think I can move on. Especially since the solution to ‘update’ the controller is to delete i
As I'm not able to reply anymore on the other topic here's a copy paste below. This issue still exists and is there for years now with a period in between it did work without issues. Any update on this? I'm experiencing the exact same issue as described below with my Sonos One Gen1. I can say volume 30 instead of volume 3 or volume 50 instead of 5 etc.to have it work correctly but it's still a bit weird this hasn't been solved so far.Info from another topic by @P.Janssen“For some months now I’m experiencing an issue when asking Google Assistant to set the volume of our speakers/rooms to a desired volume. This does not work properly when asking to set the volume to either level 3, 5 or 10. The other volume levels seem to work okay though, as per below list:“Hey Google volume 0” : room volume is correctly set to 0% “Hey Google volume 1” : room volume is correctly set to 10% “Hey Google volume 2” : room volume is correctly set to 20% “Hey Google volume 3” : room volume is incorrectly set
I’m posting this because I’d like to present you with information regarding wireless streaming of music services and how it relates to the available band width provided by your router. Before I start, I’m going to provide information about my ISP and network setup.ISPGoogle Fiber 3G Plan (incoming) $100/mo_USDMy Network Wi-Fi 7 Asus AiMesh with wired backhaul Asus GT-BE98 Pro Router (main node) Asus RT-BE96U Router x 2 (satellite nodes)I’ll admit that my setup is not the typical network utilized by most consumers. It is high-end in terms of equipment cost which is approximately $1500_USD and ISP service. However, the principles are the same regarding performance of a network regardless of build and specifications. This picture shows the Mbps hitting my router for download and upload which is approximately 3G as provided by my ISP Google Fiber. You need to understand that there is no consumer device currently available that can utilize 3G speeds. A consumer device with a wired connecti
I’ve just setup my Sonos one when I say Alexa play a playlist on Apple Music it will say now playing playlist there is no sound even tho I have volume upmy arc works good when I say play Adele playlist from apple musicwhere could be the problem guys thanks in advance
I recently noticed that Sonos has improved low-frequency response with a DSP update. I could really hear the positive changes while watching Dune 2. Our goal now is to address the issue where low frequencies generated by the overhead channels aren't being redirected to the soundbar's midwoofer. While this isn't a problem for those using a separate sub, it can negatively impact the listening experience for those using the Sonos soundbar as a standalone unit, such as with the bar + Era 100 or bar + Era 300. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1RWLGzNhMYmZo9dTxqljgpGtiU5NDnXW4/viewThe video I've attached shows the kick sound from the overhead channels starting at the 30-second mark. You can hear the low frequencies not being redirected to the soundbar's midwoofer. Also, in the case of one of the famous Dolby Atmos demo videos, "Core Universe", you can feel that the mid-woofer of the soundbar is not working at the 41s to 44s part of the video, when the low frequency is output through the ov
Hi, Not sure if this is the right place but... I would like to request the last.fm scrobbling feature be re-enabled on the android Sonos app, or at least allow other scrobbling apps to read now playing information to do their thing. At the moment the feature appears to be in a sort of "zombie" state where scrobbling still occurs but only if the play queue isn't changed in any way (e.g. Skip, play next...). I have to reset the connection and it works again. (on Move this means putting the speaker in Bluetooth mode then back to WiFi mode and on my Arc it means turning the TV on and off again to switch inputs). This was available on previous versions of the app.
Hi there The new Sonos app has adopted the strange behavior of defaulting to a random(?) room when you start it. Apparently it is designed so that you always first have to go to ”Your System”, then select the room you want to play music in, and then you can start to play something. Three steps instead of one. This is for me a highly anoying behavior as it is wholly redundant. I only play one music track in all rooms, it would be after all quite a cacophony if I would play different tracks in each room. Isn’t this the point of whole house audio, that you can move from room to room while seamlessly enjoying the same music?in essence this means that I have stopped using the app for starting playback. I just use Plexamp or Spotify now and don’t bother with the Sonos app any more. These apps allow me to directly select the room, without going to separate views or UIs.The only use case for the Sonos app anymore is firmware upgrades or speaker grouping changes. How do you guys see this?
Hi all,I am hoping to get some insight on appropriately placing my era 300s as rear surrounds. I have followed the help guide from Sonos to get started (I.e. both speakers have at least 8” of clearance on either side, at least 1” from the behind and are approximately 8 ft apart from each other). Also, the era 300s are about 1 foot back from the seating area and offset about 1-1.5 ft to either side. My main question is should the era 300s be less offset and closer to the chairs or is this good? My understanding is that rear surrounds should be slightly behind and offset from the listening area. Hoping to get some input here. Lastly, are era 300s too much for this space? Would it have been better to opt for the era 100s? No complaints on the 300’s performance as I did notice an improvement over the One SLs that I had has rear surrounds before this. Many thanks in advance for your help and input.
Hello, I am asking for help in choosing additional SONOS sound system for the following set: Sony XR-48A90K 48" OLED 4K TV + Apple TV 4K set-top box (2022) + SONOS Beam 2. Living room about 15m2, I watch streaming Movies - music. What do you recommend to buy? SONOS Mini subwoofer or SONOS ERA 100 pair.
Wondering about speaker placement (2x Era 100s) in this open concept kitchen / living room. Not pictured in the image below - two stools at the kitchen island that I often eat at.
I am sitting here on a quiet Sunday running a NAS setup through my head for media storage and Sonos access. I haven't worried about this so far as we've been enjoying streaming but it's time to get my old music library online. Currently everything is on a media computer that was connected to my original surround sound system and TV for ripped dvds. I am looking to transfer my music library to a NAS box that I can simply plug into my orbi router. I've read through the tutorials for setting up various NAS boxes and was interested in talking about current tech. I have setup many NAS systems for network backup in the past but was interested in your input on what available today using a SDD drive in place of a conventional HD. The reasoning for this really boils down to the fact all my network gear is in our bedroom and I would expect the sound levels for a SDD system would be less that the legacy setups. We live in the woods and frankly it is truely refreshing to have dead silence when
Evening all. Have a large Sonos environment started maybe 13 years or so back. It’s been refreshed a time or two and continues to grow. It has in the main, been near flawless in operation. It’s all S2 and most devices not so old.But a problem recent months has prompted some questions which I’m hoping I can get your experience and recommendation on please. We took the view way back that running RJ45 copper to each device was the best way to go. Every device bar an ARC with wireless One’s associated, are hard wired. But I’m now wondering what is the optimum networking configuration for 2025? Discussion today with Sonos support caused me to think that wireless seems be the preference. Or a combination of some wired and some wireless. There was less enthusiasm for wired only. Why do I say this? We I swapped two very old and long in the tooth Netgear 48 port PoE switches out in favour of two brand new high spec managed Netgear switches. The PoE side of things had been failing for some time a
Just recently I’ve had the opportunity to directly compare Apple Music, Qobuz and Amazon Music Unlimited on my Sonos speakers (Beam 2, Move 2 and Roam).I listen to a lot of music and am really frustrated by the poor audio quality on a lot of albums which have been mastered to compete in “the loudness war”.This affects a lot of recent albums and re-masters of older albums. The dynamic range of a multitude of albums can be viewed by Googling: Loudness War Database. There are usually several different versions of many albums in this database: original issues, re-masters, Spatial Audio, vinyl, blu-ray audio etc. The dynamic range of each version can vary considerably. High dynamic range is generally thought to give a more natural sound and a more satisfying listening experience.Yesterday I compared listening to various versions of the track “Thriller” by Michael Jackson. All the Apple Music versions were very loud, including the Atmos (Spatial Audio) version. I also thought they sounded quit
I think most of us know what a dismal failure the S2 app has become. Laggy, buggy and in most instances just does not work most of the time. That said, it would be great to see a detailed roadmap of what is being planned to get this back on track. It has been over a year of this poor performance. Is there any light in sight? Does anyone have a S2 app roadmap to share?
Hi,I am updating a 475 sq ft covered patio where I have a barbecue area with a high table, a dining area, and a living area. Next to the high table I'm placing a TV. The ceiling is 9 feet high. There are walls on the left and top side, while the right and bottom sides are open. What Sonos setup do you recommend? I was considering a soundbar for the TV, complemented by two Era 100/300 speakers hanging from the ceiling in the two lower corners (blur crosses). There is little to no rain here, and very low humidity. Thanks!
As anyone who uses Google Assistant routines on Sonos knows, it was quite a while ago that Google started saying “Sorry, I don’t understand” to any action in a routine that attempts to speak a verbal output on a Sonos speaker. The bug came and went a few times, and then settled in permanently with no acknowledgement from Sonos or Google.I experimented a bit to see if there was any workaround, such as playing a standard sound effect (unfortunately Google doesn’t have any built in sound effects) or playing a pre-recorded audio file with the response (that works, but media volume is muted as long as the routine is running, so the audio isn’t very audible). If all you want is a simple verbal acknowledgement to know that the routine ran, you can add actions in the routine to increase volume and then decrease volume by the same amount. That results in Google saying “Ok” or “Got it”, and it does work on Sonos speakers.
Hi all,I recently purchased the Sonos Arc Ultra for my living room and I love it. I would like some advice on expanding my system. :)I have a small, 900 sq ft house. I was thinking about adding:Living Room - 2 x Era 100 + Sub 4Office - Era 100 Bedroom - Era 100Deck - Move 2The office faces the dining room and the bedroom is off the kitchen. If I group all of these will it be good for whole house sound? Should I go with the Era 300s instead of 100s? I don't want to overbuy with a small space, but I love my music too!Thank you for any assistance/feedback!-Rebecca
Over the last week or so, every time I ask Sonos to transfer the music (playing somewhere I was to where I am now), it results in children songs being played where I was. The latest was Five Little Speckled Frogs by Susie Tallman when I was playing Pandora. Don’t have kids, so those songs wouldn’t even be in a playlist somewhere.Any suggestions would be helpful.
Hi everyone,I'd like to suggest a feature for Sonos's portable speakers, specifically the Move and Move 2: the ability to turn them on remotely via Bluetooth.Similar to how the Bose SoundLink Micro works, this feature (Bluetooth Low Energy) would let us wake up a Sonos portable speaker from a powered-off state just by connecting to it with a Bluetooth-enabled device. This would be incredibly convenient, as it would eliminate the need to physically go to the speaker to turn it on—a quick Bluetooth connection would do the trick as long as you're in range. This feature could also be a great help when a speaker goes missing inside a bag or elsewhere in the home, as you could locate it by connecting to it and playing audio.I hope this is something that can be added through a future firmware update, assuming the hardware/software of the Move and Move 2 supports it.What are your thoughts on this idea?
I have a upper and lower deck wanting to add a new zone for lower deck. Their is a JBL2210 sub powered by bridged crown 1502 for the upper deck mounted to ceiling of lower Deck. Will the sonos amps allow me to use a Y cable from both sub outs to a common 1 channel crown amp?Or will it require a type of autosensing RCA switch to flip the sub from (upper deck sonos amp zone 1) to (lower deck sonos amp zone 2)?
Hello everyone, and happy summer!I'm looking for support and help from experienced users!I'll try to be as brief as possible to focus on my biggest concern: I'd like to improve the audio experience by installing sound-absorbing panels! My biggest concern (and the questions I've been asking myself) is this: as you know, panels can usually be placed on the wall just above the TV, on the wall behind us, on the side walls, and on the ceiling! But since our Sonos systems are designed with audio that "reflects" and "bounces" off the side walls (like the ERA 300, the ARC) and on the ceiling for the Atmos effect, would it be incorrect to place these panels on the ceiling and side walls? I think the audio that should "bounce" off the walls and ceiling is "absorbed" by the panels, and therefore it would be a mistake to install them! Is this correct? Perhaps the only ones we can place are on the wall in front of us, right above the TV and soundbar?Thank you to anyone who will be so kind as to clari
