Hello guys.We have been quite happily living in the S1 world, not seeing a reason to move to S2. However our venerable Home Theatre System has decided to die. So we think that we might replace it with a Beam (our heads won’t less us buy an ARC as we don’t actually watch that much TV). We might need to hit eBay or similar to replace a Gen 1 Connect but that is a minor concern 3 questionsWe have lost track of progress on the S2 App. What features, if any, available in S1 have still not been implemented in S2? We have pairs of Play3, Play1 and One SL any suggestions as to which we should use as surround speakers? Which? Magazine in the UK doesn’t rate the Beam - can they be safely ignored? Thanks for any thoughts
Hi - I have a large detached garage (48x30) and have a set of Play:3 speakers that I will put one on each end of the garage. Can I have 2 echos strictly for voice control of those speakers in the Sonos system? Not looking for them to play music.I would like them to be set up with Alexa so my wife can announce to me in the detached that dinner is ready! :) - all the other Sonos speakers around the house have voice control and it is great to do announcements that go to every room with a Sonos (all three kids included)
Hi folks, I’ve recently upgraded from a Sonos Beam Gen 1 to a Gen 2 and have a query about Dolby Atmos effects. The Sonos Beam Gen 2 is located in our lounge, which has a roughly 10-foot high ceiling with a light fitting on the middle that hangs down slightly. At the moment I can’t seem to hear any rear or overhead sounds when playing Dolby Atmos content. I’ve used Trueplay to set up the soundbar, but does anyone have any recommendations for possible Height Level audio settings, please? I’m not sure whether to go lower or higher in those settings (or leave them at zero) in order to pick up any overhead or surround sounds. Thanks in advance! Matt Moderator edit: Changed Gen 1 to Gen 2 for clarity
Hi. I am looking for some wisdomI have a sonos ONE in the kitchen which i really like. Recently i have done an update as there was some difficulty with the sonos app finding the speaker ( i was still able to mostly find the speaker on spotify)Since then it seems the speaker is invisible to the app and to spotify. My wifi set up is with the BT router in the lounge (other side of an old brick internal wall from the sonos speaker) and a BT wiFi Disc extender in the room above the kitchen to reach the loft office. From my reading the sonos speaker systems are disrupted by having the wifi extender with the same SSID - I have read that you cant change the name of the WiFi disc as it just repeats out the wifi signal. So it seems the option is to Buy a mesh network - £250 ishbut…I was wondering...if sonos use sonosNET can i plug a sound bar into the TV and the wifi router and then the sonos ONE in the kitchen should attach to that network and not the WIFi? This would be cheaper and i would get
I would like to have a feat request for beam gen 2 and Era 100 as surrounds to support true play (quick tune) as per here Thanks!
Hi! I purchased an Era 100 to line-in for my Audio Technica turntable. I also bought the Sonos USB-C to RCA (3.5) adaptor. Furthermore, I bought a headphone-to-RCA 3.5 (female and male) connector piece off amazon. I tried connecting the Sonos connector to the RCA connector I bought online and the pieces fit together but they are “loose” and no music is playing through the Era 100. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have updated the app and system as well.
Hello!Just bought Arc Ultra and hit a problem, probably, with a broken speaker, producing crackling sound at a certain frequencies on the right side. I've asked Sonos Support and they have, after a long conversation, escalated the issue higher to some technical team. It's been more than two weeks now, and I still got no response, however I have contacted support several times, they never were able to say when that technical team will contact me.The product is quite new, I should have 30 days free return warranty - maybe I should request returning the product instead of hoping on sonos support to do a warranty case?I have a case number, but cannot do anything to check its status. Kind of a weird situation, especially considering that the product already came defective to me.What should I do?The Arc Ultra was bought as a part of a TV bundle with two era 100s, they work fine. Will I be able to return just Arc alone?Any help is appreciated,Best regards,Alexey.
Hello, I’m running various Sonos zones throughout my home via Sonos Amps (9 of them) which power speakers in different rooms. Since installation, I’ve always played music just fine via Airplay connection to the speakers throughout the home. The issue I’m experiencing is that I’d like to add the Sonos Amps to Apple HomeKit so that I can run automations to play music at certain times, and also direct Siri to play from a Homepod or Phone to one of the Amps. As I go through the process in Apple Home to add an accessory, all of the amps show as options to integrate, but the process continuously fails. I’ve rebooted all amps. I’ve rebooted my router and other smart home hubs. All amps show as an accessory ready to be integrated into Apple Home.Airplay error shows even though the Amps DO work via regular airplay playback from any device in the home. After clicking “Ok” on the Airplay failure, this message from HomeKit shows.
Why is there no Android widget support? When will this be rectified? I assumed I'd done something wrong or that there was some obscure issue with the Fold 7. I'm astounded after coming here and reading multiple year old threads that widget support had disappeared, this is frankly unforgivable for a media streaming product.
For security reasons I want to move all my Internet of Things (IoT) devices, including my Sonos speakers and Arc soundbar, off my main wifi network and onto a guest (vlan) network. Sonos documentation states that Sonos speakers must be on the same network as the device that runs the Sonos controller app. That’s a problem for me, since I want my iPad to be on my main wifi network, not on my IoT network. Is there any way to adjust my router settings so that the Sonos controller app on my iPad can see the Sonos speakers on the IoT network? All my other IoT devices work this way by default. So I’m hoping it is possible for my Sonos speakers too.
I have a sonos amp that currently powers, and its situated across the room from where my TV is. All of the inwall speaker wires are at the location of the amp, that’s why its there. I am wondering if I were to purchase a sonos sounbar system, would I be able to connect the amp to the soundbar wirelessly to power my surround sound speakers? Connecting the soundbar to the amp via a cable is out of the question. They are both on the same network, however its wifi. I could use ethernet but I’ve actually had better compatibility with having the amp on wifi due to having several other era 100 and era 300 speakers on the same network via wifi. I read that if one device is on wifi, they should all be on wifi.
Afternoon all. Appealing to experienced hands as always as I’ve had no success to date with this onePreviously I purchased a 1st gen Hue Sync to add to a Panasonic GZ2000 running with a Sonos Arc, Pair of Sonos One’s and a Sonos Sub. The TV also had a Roku stick, A Nivida Sheild and an Apple TV box. But I could never get it to work and returned it. This was maybe three or four years back. Now I’m in the fortunate position of being able to set up a new room, again with a new flagship Panasonic, a Sonos ARC Ultra, a pair of Era 300’s and a new sub and would again like to try at adding add a Hue Sync. Most likely we will add the same Roku, Nividia, Freesat and Freeview boxes. Not sure how many HDMI’s are on the Panasonic …. I think 4 … its the Z95B.Possible to get any set up guidance from those having success here please? Or any limitations? Or is it even possible? I know there was a 2nd gen Sync launched a while ago but can’t see any real data on what sets that one apart.I also read that
recently purchased an Arc and replaced my beam. Everything states the same by using physical Ethernet to connect all devices. However, after I set up the surround sound, I noticed those rear Sonos ones behind me getting cutting sound. Here is my diagnosis code: [redacted] Moderator Edit: Recorded and removed diagnostic number
Hi,I have a facility with 5 Sonos Ports. each in different floor. each Port connected to dedicated Amp and speakers. All Ports reside on the same network (VLAN)the need is to be able to make the 1st Port determine the music that would be played through the rest 4 Port devices. Is that possible to do through using the Port devices only?thanks
I have a Sonos One in my kitchen area that will start a timer if I say “Hey, Siri, set a timer for 10 (or whatever) minutes.” Occasionally, I’ll ask Siri a different question and the One will reply that it doesn’t understand the question or that it can’t do that.I’ve occasionally tried this with the two other Sonos One speakers I have, and they didn’t respond (to be fair, the kitchen One doesn’t always), so maybe my kitchen One is an outlier.Everything is up to date, fwiw, and this has been going on for quite awhile—I’m just getting around to wondering aloud what’s happening. I’ve taken to practically whispering to my watch or iphone but I’m wondering if anyone else has run across this issue?
Hi there, anything new on the manual sorting topic of SONOS favorites within the SONOS app? It‘s almost one year ago, since the topic was taken into the team to discuss this feature request. It’s a feature users requested now for years. kind regards, michael
Hi,I have a Sonos Arc which I already had voice assistant setup with Amazon Alexa. I received an email from Amazon, “Reconnect Alexa on your Sonos speaker.” I followed the directions from the email which I provided below to reconnect Amazon Alex to my Sonos Arc but it has been unsuccessful and I have been having issues.I followed the below directions but the first issue that I am having is in the Sonos App after I removed “Amazon Alex” in the “Voice Assistant” and tried to re-add it I get a new window that pops up, “Control Sonos with Amazon Alexa.” I followed the directions in the article, “Set up Amazon Alexa with a voice-enabled Sonos speaker.” But the problem is that after I click on Voice Assistants and then choose Amazon Alexa. It does not give me an option to choose my Sonos Arc and instead a quick help box shows up, “Control Sonos with Amazon Alexa.” I have provided a screenshot for reference.I tried searching online and the Sonos community on how to troubleshoot this but I hav
I am thinking about buying Ace but as I understand it the home theatre must be on wifi? I have my soundbar hardwired with ethernet, so does that mean Ace won’t work for listening to TV through Sonos Ace?
Following up on this thread - @Corry P - Any update here?My kids don’t have phones / the sonos app, but they want to listen to their own music in their own rooms. Considering getting them each an era 100 for their rooms so they listen using voice control.I like that SVC processes voices locallyI dont want to set up Alexa or google voice.reviewing that thread above I see there’s limitations using SVC streaming different songs to different speakers using spotify, wondering if that’s been solved? Might it behave differently with Apple music?Has this limitation of SVC been addressed?
I have a stereo pair of legacy Sonos One SL’s in a room called “Computer Room”. I cannot use Sonos voice control to control those speakers from other rooms in my house that have voice control enabled Sonos speakers and soundbars. I've tried changing the room name but still no luck. I have no trouble controlling the other rooms remotely. This should work. I am running with the latest firmware update on all speakers 92.0-71170. Any ideas?
Hi everyone, for the past couple of months I’ve been experiencing a strange issue with my Sonos One with Alexa built in. It looks like Alexa has automatically enabled Follow-Up Mode (the mode where, after a command, it chimes again and keeps listening without saying the wake word). The problem is that there is no option to enable or disable Follow-Up Mode on the Sonos One, and I never turned it on.This is what happens:after giving any command, Alexa plays the chime again and stays in listening mode, as if waiting for a second command.I’ve tried everything:• Factory reset of the Sonos One• Resetting the Alexa app• Removing and re-adding the device• Various reboots, network resets, etc.Nothing worked.Has anyone experienced this or knows how to fix it?It’s getting really annoying because it keeps listening after every command. Thanks!
Just receive my arc. Ultra an 2 era300i don’t have reliable wifi can I use Bluetooth to run this system
I used my upgrade credit a while back for my play 5. Still have the device, am I able to give to someone else to use or can it only be put in the bin?
OK, first I know I’m an idiot for my request, so please don’t abuse me! Also had a search through the forum, but nothing matching my exact case came up. A couple of years ago I bought a pair of Sonos One SLs for our kitchen. I didn’t get the usual One (with voice commands) as I didn’t like the idea of a voice assistant listening in all the time and streaming ads/content based on overheard discussions. Mad maybe. I don’t know. Move forward a couple of years and I really miss not being able to shout at Alexa to play some music. I bugger about on my phone trying to get music to play when we have guests. As I said, an idiot. I would like to integrate (seamlessly!) Alexa into my system. Some ideas: buy a new Era 100 and pair it with an existing One SL. Use the other SL elsewhere in the house. Add a third speaker to the setup (Era 100?) and have 3 speakers. How would this work with the stereo pair I have set up?Use some sort of Amazon device (echo dot?) to add the functionality. How se
Want to make use of two of my old Sonos Play:1 to connect to a Fire Stick. What are my options? I cant really use HDMI as the Firestick is in my projector which is ceiling mounted. Could perhaps use a line in and run a long 3.5mm or use a bluetooth adapter. But going to need something to interface with the Play:1’s as they have no line in.
