Do surround speakers play in stero when playing music?

I have a 5.1 set up with my surrounds being two Ones. When I play music through an app like Spotify are the surrounds playing in stereo mode?  I'm assuming the best setting for this would be Full for the surround speakers?

Yes, with the Music Playback setting set to Full, you will get full stereo audio from the two surround speakers.
