For a pair of Sonos Ones should both microphones be active? It seems different ones answer.
I’m finding Pandora use with Alexa is buggy. It says it will play a station then nothing happens.
Even a reboot doesn’t fix it but it plays from the Sonos app. Any ideas?
It's been stated in other threads that only the speaker that perceives it is closest to you would respond, much like the Amazon devices do.
No idea on Pandora, didn't think it was supported yet.
Pandora is supported and has been working until now.
The speakers are about four feet apart but I’ll leave both microphones on.
I see two groups for my paired Ones in the Alexa app. In the Sonos app they are called bedroom.
In the Alexa app there are two groups. Bedroom and one called Sonos. I’m wondering the Sinos group should be there.
I see Pandora is supported, so I'd recommend at least one thing, which just a guess at this point. Go in to the Amazon Alexa app, and disassociate your speakers. Then re "find" them. Try to play Pandora again.
You've already said you've rebooted, I'm assuming you meant the speaker. What you're describing doesn't fit in with my mental picture of a bad IP address, so I'm not going to suggest a router and sonos refresh/reboot yet. But it might be worth
submitting a system diagnostic, and posting the number here, for the folks at Sonos to look at. Particularly within 10 minutes of the Pandora station not playing. Along with the number, I'd also post the name of the station that Sonos thought it was playing, in case that makes a difference to the tech looking at the diagnostic.
Thanks for the advice.
I think the main issue is this software is very buggy.
I guess Sonos wanted to get the $$$ over customer satisfaction or potential returns.
I was aware of the current limitations but not even the things they say work don’t seem to work very reliably.
The Sonos app works fine. My WiFi network is rock solid.
Yep, wasn't suggesting any issue with your wifi at all, which is why I didn't recommend a refresh. The voice control is, as far as I can tell, still in Beta, which may be why you're having issues. If you want to assist Sonos in figuring out the issue, and fixing it, you'd submit the diagnostic, along with the other data. But that's entirely up to you.
I submitted a diagnostic. I’m sure they already know this is buggy though.
Ok I broke the stereo pair, reconnected them, and now Pandora plays again instead of just saying it’s going to.
Thanks for the idea.
Update. Ok it played one song then stopped I’m on the verge of returning them.
Curious, has anyone tried the Radio Paradise skill in FLAC mode on the One? It works on Echo, but goes back to Ultra on Dot.
Alexa, install Radio Paradise
Alexa, play Radio Paradise
Alexa, ask Radio Paradise to set the bitrate to F-L-A-C
Alexa, ask Radio Paradise what’s the bitrate
So disappointed. Just set up my Sonos One to replace my original Alexa. I should have waited to read more of the information before ordering :
1. Lack of drop in ability, had been using this instead of screaming around the house at the kids.
2. You can only enable the sonos skill with one system. We have 2 systems, one at our beach house and one at our house. I don’t want to choose one to operate on.
Really wish I could send it back. 😞
I setup our vacation house to be the same as main house. Nice to be able to drop in on vacation home from main house (especially with Echo Shows at both locations).

How did you do that? I have a dot controlling our sonos speakers at our vacation home. When I just went to set up the Sonos One here (at home), I ended up having to disable and renable the sonos skill on Alexa. Doing this, it asked me to chose which system I wanted to control. It wouldn’t let me choose both.
If I could do both it would at least solve part the problem.
I have the alexa devices at both locAtions set all as same location as far as amazon is concerned. I can drop in vacation house just as easily as kids room upstairs.

Ok. My issue is not Alexa, it’s the sonos systems. Do you have sonos systems at both locations?
Yes I do. I do have Sonos setup as single system as well. I took one of my units from home to the vacation home and setup from that device so they are all the same Sonos household.
Really wish I could send it back. :(
You can if you wish, within 45 days.

How did you do it! I took my Sonos One for a drive to our vacation place and reset it up as part of that system. Just got back home with it and plugged it in and The Alexa jntegration still sees it as a separate system so I have to choose if Alexa controls the vacation system or the Sonos One. 😞.
How did you manage to keep your sonos system at the two locations seen as one system?
I had a Sonos speaker, tried the Beta (with Alexa) and then moved both to my MBR. It works fine except the only way I can stream Apple Music is through the app. Bought Sonos1 for my living room and I am having some challenges making them all work together the way I want with commands, but have some work arounds. I would really like a downloadable. Excel file that show the Alexa commands that work with Sonos 1. Any chance I will ever be able to speak to Alexa on Sonos 1 and get to stream Apple Music? Overall, having lots of fun. It's good for my brain, but I have the time to play with it.
Once Airplay 2 is on the Sonos One you will be able to go directly from the Apple Music app to the speaker.
Hi, but why on Sonos web site the play1 and one have the same price?
The one has new technology, best audio, more features...
So who would buy a play1 at the same price?
Please correct if i am wrong.
A lot of people are asking that question. I am guessing that the Play 1 will be going away. They are on sale all the time now.
If you already have a PLAY:1, and want to stereo pair (perhaps even use as surround speakers), then another PLAY:1 is the appropriate speaker. But if you don't already own one, then the Sonos One is the better purchase.
And frankly, there are people who don't want microphones in their homes, no matter what.
How do they deal with mics in their phones, I wonder...
I hope those people don’t have cell phones.
Oh Kumar beat me to it. ?
A lot of tvs these days have microphones too.
I choose to not pass judgment. I have my own set of issues 🙂
