Though I appreciate your feelings about the lost quality of sound, your remark “No one was complaining” is not true; people where complaining about not being able to hear voices clearly on the Arc.
Then why didn't people either use the existing dialogue enhancement function or Sonos improve that function. They should have left everything else alone. If people were still complaining about dialogue after using the function then the Arc simply was not for them. They should have returned the item and gone with something else more suitable, not moaned about it and now ruined it for the rest of us.
The flagship is ruined. Their single most expensive product is now the quietest, terribly sounding talk of hatred amongst the community.
Nobody will like this. I bought an Arc and a Sub iii some months ago. Total cost around £1500. I already own an Arcam/ Mission setup around 20 years old, a B&W Zeppelin Wireless from 2015 and a stereo paired couple of Apple HomePod Originals from 2020.
What did I think of the Sonos setup for ‘Atmos’ Movies? Hi-res streaming for Amazon Music?
So called ‘surround sound’ requires a vivid imagination, largely cos it’s a nonsense developed by a marketing department. I don’t have the Sonos One SL rear speakers it’s true. That’s cos I figured based on what I already owned, they’d be a waste of money. But ‘surround sound’? Nah.
However - Having watched Peter Pee’s video on the ‘broken’ sub and having read a few of the posts on this forum about how low the volume is etc - I have just measured Movie dialogue at 100dB - which is literally deafening - and our listening room is pretty big - 6 metres x 5 metres with a 3 metre ceiling.
1) Trueplay may be broken but I couldn’t discern that Trueplay did anything at all anyway.
2) I can’t tell any difference in the sub bass with 14.12.- it’s still overwhelming if the volume is jacked up to 10 or 15.
I think there’s a lot of people who suffer from aural hallucinations. The Sonos set up is OK, not bad but not life changing. It’s too expensive and it’s reputation is largely built on high spend marketing. For those that are disillusioned and outraged at the Sonos 14.12. conspiracy - you probably believe Donald Trump won the 2020 election.

If you can’t hear the difference from the Sub from 14.10 to 14.12 you need to check your ears.
14.10 rumbled our house on like +5 on the sub.
I have +13 now and still no low frequenzy rumbles like before. Thats what I am missing.

Consider the fact that Sonos has stated the Sub bug only affects certain setups before you go insulting others.
On the contrary, I enjoy all non-spam contributions to this, and other threads. It would be a poorer forum if we were to restrict posts based on whether an individual thought someone else were helpful or not.

Ok sorry, did not know that.
But it is also nice to know I am not hallucinating ;)
Last night I streamed the HBO Max’s first episode of “House of the Dragon” Dolby Atmos/DV. Sounded great, I mean really good on my Arc+ Gen 3 Sub + Pair of One SLs. Subwoofer was definitely there when needed.
To my surprise when thinking this sounds great, I checked my Sonos app and I had left the Voice Enhancement on from a previous movie...FWIW.
Yes. Sonos version 14.12. Trueplay engaged, and volume setting throughout the viewing at 32. My room is 15’x 36’ with the listening area about 12’ away from the TV, ceiling height is 9’.
In fact, since 14.12 blew up the forums, count me in as someone still enjoying my ARC 5.1.2 even with 14.12 and too much scrutiny based upon what I read here. I don't know, maybe I long since adjusted to the new sound signature, or my gear wasn't affected as much as others.
Sorry to be so positive.
Changes to volume mapping and impact on Sub output
Thank you for your feedback regarding the recent 14.12 software update with Enhanced Clarity for Arc.
In this update, we made a change to Arc’s audio profile to improve dialogue clarity and the overall sound experience. This change is based on feedback from our listeners in the field and brings Arc in line with our other Home Theater products, resulting in a more accurate representation of the sound as intended by the content creator.
The updated tuning adjusts the spectral balance of Arc+Sub to achieve a more accurate representation of the sound and an improved sound experience. While the Arc+Sub output capability remains the same, the mapping of volume across the 0-100% range has been adjusted with this release which means low and mid volume levels are relatively lower compared to the previous tuning so you may need to adjust the volume slider to achieve your pre-update volume level. The maximum volume and bass output are unchanged. We acknowledge that this change was not made more clear in the release notes and in the future we’ll be sure to make sure we communicate these rare changes more effectively.
Please note, we have identified an issue for some users of Arc, Beam and Ray whose configuration includes a Sub (with or without surrounds), who may find their Sub output is lower than desired after performing a new Trueplay tuning.
Users with Beam or Ray bonded with Sub can increase the Sub level for a more powerful low-end response, however this won’t have the same impact for Arc users. Customers using Arc bonded with a Sub (and/or surrounds) who find their Sub output is lower than desired following performing a new Trueplay tuning, should temporarily disable Trueplay on Arc until this is addressed by an upcoming software update.
Trueplay tunings for Home Theater configurations without a bonded Sub are unaffected, including standalone soundbars and those bonded with surrounds only.
If you would like any assistance adjusting the sound of your Home Theater setup, the community is here to help. You can also contact Sonos support.
I have an Arc linked to Sub with two rear Ones and can’t begin to explain how awful the sound profile is now. So I bought an £800 sub not to now be able to hear it. Sonos, when will a fix be made available? To make matters worse the control for sub level and for true play have now been removed from the app!!!?! Is this because a fix is on the way?
I have invested heavily over the last couple of years into the Sonos brand and I find it utterly unforgivable that sound profiles are changed to the point that either a product sounds completely different (without the ability to reverse or control this) or in this case for a product to no longer perform as it should.
It’s frustrating that problems like this consistently occur in the Sonos ecosystem and then take months to resolve. By the time all bugs are fixed, we’ll be placed with needing to invest in their next new version of the product… not happy
You will have lost your TruePlay feature on the app probably because you have an android phone. You have to borrow an apple product to re-run TruePlay. I had to do the same, although TBH it was a waste of time as this update has killed the sub. I currently have loudness on and trueplay off to try and get some bass and rumble out of the system. My old cheap soundbase was better than this system is at the moment :(
Seriously considering tossing my sub out the window 5 flights down - filming it crash on the pavement and uploading the clip to social media.

Oh and I forgot to mention one more to me, interesting note. Since 14.12 my dog now reacts/barks to certain surround sound effects in some movies played through the Sonos, this has never happened before since having the Sonos for over a year now as well as when I had the Sony HT-A9 either.
Update 14.14 available. Anybody daft enough to go first? Can’t be any worse I guess.
I've just updated to 14.14 and learned Trueplay again.
I don't think the sound has gotten any better.

Oh no :(((
I had a ‘suspicion’ that Sonos would skip a 14.13 release.
Same here, just updated 14.14, did the trueplay again, no difference whatsoever :(
So what does 14.14 contain?
Updated as well and the sub is still entirely underwhelming and the arc remains skewed towards the high end.
The difference in sound between these two latest updates and what I originally purchased this setup for is so stark it’s ridiculous. Time to move on from Sonos.
So what does 14.14 contain?
Per the release notes: Bug fixes and performance enhancements.
No more detail provided.

Fully agree.
I wish I could return the products. I would do that immediately.
I get it sometimes thigs go south, which happened with 14.12. No more than a month later, they “fixed” something and released 14.14. End result: NOTHING. Maybe they broke some Beams… we’ll see.

Yea I feel like they could have at least said,
“Bug fixes and performance enhancements. We’ll address Arc+Sub bug(s) in the very next update”
Like why leave us hanging? Especially when the damn announcement about the issue at hand states, “Users with Beam or Ray bonded with Sub can increase the Sub level for a more powerful low-end response, however this won’t have the same impact for Arc users. Customers using Arc bonded with a Sub (and/or surrounds) who find their Sub output is lower than desired following performing a new Trueplay tuning, should temporarily disable Trueplay on Arc until this is addressed by an upcoming software update.”
Would it be so hard to revert to the old sound profile we all loved and have a dialogue clarity switch you could select similar to the loudness one (that’s a joke now) that would enable the new profile?
Really poor form. These will be the last sonos products I ever buy. Not that they care, they’ve already had my cash.
There’s a new System Name item in settings
After updating to 14.14 the sound is just as dull as in 14.12
I’m still convinced that Sonos does that on purpose. No other explanation that comes to mind.
Can’t believe I sold a JBL soundbar just to get this junk.
It’s a sick joke.
I feel your pain. My Moves were messed up for 3 releases. I will say it is very rare in software release cycles to fix a bug from a previous release. The next release is normally in final testing at this point.
Hopefully 14,15 will help, that’s if Sonos acknowledge the problem.

I wonder what the intended function might be. Why bother with "Name"
