Hey all! We've got a new update live for both iOS and Android — here's a quick breakdown of what's changed. For more of what has come out in previous updates check out our App Release Notes here.

As always, this is a Phased Rollout, think of it like a wave; not everyone gets it at the same time. If you're on iOS and want to nudge it along, head to the App Store, pull down on your Account page (the one showing pending updates), and give it a refresh. That usually does the trick.

What's New:

App Update

iOS - 88.01.9

Android - 88.01.10

  • TuneIn shortcut cleanup: We removed the old TuneIn shortcuts from your Home Feed that had stopped working. If you're a TuneIn user, keep an eye out for a "Fix It" prompt in the app — that's your cue to log in and migrate over to the new TuneIn. If it sits untouched, the prompt will switch to a countdown, and eventually the broken shortcuts will just be removed on their own. Easiest path is to tap through when you see it!

MDCR

Modern: 90.0-79210

Legacy: 57.23-80060

  • macOS: native Apple Silicon support: If you've seen a message about Apple removing Rosetta 2, this one's for you. The Sonos app on macOS now runs natively on Apple Silicon, so no more Rosetta needed.

As always, feedback is welcome. The good, bad, or in between. We read it all. 🙏

+1 this is great news.  let’s keep the momentum going and put some more development into the desktop apps.

That would be an interesting, and substantial change in Sonos’ current position.

If you could pass on… the download link for the S2 macOS controller has not been updated. The S1 macOS controller download has been updated.

FWIW, I used the controller itself to download the ‘new’ MacOS S2 controller, that worked fine.

I did as well. Both S1 and S2 desktop controllers updated with “Check for updates...”.

Not to put a damper on the good news about the MacOS Desktop app; however, for me it begs the question….

  • Will Sonos keep the Web app?

It has been my understanding that the Web App would eventually replace the Desktop app in Mac and Windows. I’ve been trying think 💡of a logical reason to keep both...but can’t 🤔
