Hi there!

I’m new to Sonos and have my system for a few days now. I use an Arc Ultra with Era 100 as surround and Sub 4. The Arc Ultra is connected to the Sony TV via HDMI eArc. A Fire TV Stick 4K is connected directly to the TV HDMI-In without any adapters.

The following problem: The Arc Ultra somehow seems to interfere with the signal from the Fire TV Stick remote control and also the TV control. When the Arc Ultra is connected, you have to hold the remote control extremely close and very directly to the TV or soundbar to switch the TV on and change the volume, otherwise nothing happens. The navigation buttons up/down/left/right, on the other hand, work instead well and theoretically also much further away / in another room – really strange.

The Arc Ultra is located around 15cmin in front of the TV. I’m sitting 2.5 meters in front of the TV. The “Use IR” and “IR Repeat” settings are activated in the home theater settings in Sonos App. I had already turned it off once as a test, but that didn't help either. I have already tried restarting and reconnecting the components. I have already set up the remote control using the function in the Sonos app. After restarting everything, the volume change is now also no longer displayed on the TV when change the volume and still you have to point directly and very close to the device to change the volume.

Would appreciate any help since it’s very annoying and no long-term solution when the volume and on/off control of the TV works no longer if the Arc Ultra is connected. That would be great. Thank you so much in advance! :-)

Is your Arc Ultra definitely connected to the HDMI-eARC port?

And have you tried the Fire Stick in an alternative HDMI port?

Also, have you tried this with the TV’s HDMI-CEC toggled on (or off if it is already on)?

(My Samsung TV doesn’t indicate volume up and down on screen with the Arc - I think that’s normal.)

Hi Rhonny,

thanks a lot for your quick answer and help.

I tried a different HDMI port now. The HDMI-CEC setting on Fire TV and the corresponding Bravia Sync-Setting was already on, I switched it off and restarted/reconnected all devices. Unfortunately, no change until now.

I also temporarily deactivated all IR settings in the Sonos app and wondered that with this setting the volume didn’t change in any way through HDMI when I used the Fire TV remote. So it seems that the volume control only works in general with the direct IR-configuration of the remotes in my Sonos app? Is this the way it should or maybe the basic issue in this case?

Thank you and happy eastern the next days :-)
