Hi,I went from a 10+ year old 5.1 sound system for half the price to a sonos beam (gen 2) with sub mini and 2 one sl. Over all im impressed, the sound is amazing. Music sounds way better than before and so does the over all environmental sound in movies. However the speech sounds like it comes from a boosted small telephone speaker, no depth what so ever. On my old system the speech was not as clear but it still had more depth and sounded more natural and in sync with the rest of the soundpicture. Now it feels like the speech is coming from a different sound source than the rest of the sound. I vissited a friend who have an arc with sub gen 3 and 2 one sl and i actually felt the same way. We only tried console gaming, but the speech in the games sounded the same as on my system in movies, high piched and out of the picture. My companion in game (god of war ragnarok) sounded like i talked to him on the phone and not in the same environment.I have tested the loudness feature, trueplay tu
Recently bought a beam and SONOS sub mini. Unboxed and went to connect to my Girlfriends TV only to realize its a cheap TV and does not offer optical out, only RCA and SPDIF via coax.Has anyone successfully obtained an audio converter for any sonos sound bars, to convert either the RCA or Coax out, into a converter then Optical out using the SONOS supplied optical to HDMI adaptor into the beam?Trying to get an idea, whether using this would work? Or using a HDMI switch with an optical output. This would then mean audio out only for HDMI devices. I am in Australia where we get free to air TV so i would not get Audio out of the Beam for this as this is connected via Coax from Aerial. Thats fine as i really only want audio for movies which will be comes from an external device. Thanks.
We're having a huge problem with both our speakers. After the TV is shut off (a Sony), and after about five minutes, we get three VERY loud squawks--so loud I jump. The Geek Squad has been out three times but can't fix the problem. Any ideas? This happens on the Arc and the larger one.
Since I purchased two IKEA symfonisk devices, I have not been able to set the volume of my Sonos Beam Gen 2 correctly. When I had only the Beam, I was able to control the volume in increments of 1, from 0 to X. Now I can only set the volume of the Beam in increments of 5, for example if I manually move the slider in the Sonos Iphone app to 12 it will set itself back down to 10 a second later. If I try 14 it rounds up to 15 and so on - it also does this when using my TV remote 😤This issue occurs when the Beam is playing ungrouped, it doesn’t seem right that I am suffering a significant decline in functionality just because I have two other Sonos devices elsewhere in my place 🙄Any help woud be much appreciated as this issue is extremely irritating!😖
Anyone else having issues with the end speakers on their Sonos Arc? Purchased Sonos Arc just last year along with Sub and additional speakers and once installed they have not been moved or rearranged, etc yet one of the mesh fittings on one of the end speakers has completely come apart. Any recommendations or suggestions?
Hi , I really need some advise as I’m getting lots of mix messages , To obtain surround sound can I use Sonos Celing and wall speakers with the arc 3rd gen and sub 3rd gen all runnning from the Sonos ampive been told that I should only do the Celing speakers or wal speakers combined with the arc and sub connected in to the amp to get the best sound surround tv experience can someone please advicethanks
Without powering it up. Unit it disconnected from my system, so all I have is the serial number. The Beam itself does not say on the unit. Purchased new in October of ‘19. I’m fairly certain it’s a Gen 2. » I’ve powered it up. Still nothing that says G1 or G2.Bottom of unit says “Model S14”. Runs Sonos OS S2. Hardware version 18.104.22.168-1.9. Series ID: A100. Serial: 48-A6-B8-****** Moderator Note: Hiding Serial number. Modified in accordance with the Community Code of Conduct.
I have Sony android tv and Sonos beam and stream Netflix via Virgin Media TiVo box. When I resume playing Netflix after pausing it the audio is muted and I have to turn the tv off and then back on to re-establish the audio. Surely this can’t be right. The tv output is set at Dolby Digital Plus and the Sonos beam shows audio in as Dolby Digital Plus 5.1.Any idea how I resolve this?
Hi all, I do not know where to turn for help on this matter so I am starting here. Any thoughts or ideas are most welcome please: I own a Sony X95K Bravia TV and use the Google TV native apps. I have my Sonos Arc connected properly to earc via HDMI and it works perfectly EXCEPT that starting last night there is no sound when I use specifically the HULU app. When I check the Sonos app it does not show receiving audio. When I use any other streaming app, the Sonos S2app shows the audio being received. All other apps are working just fine. If I disconnect the hdmi cable temporarily to the ARC or unplug the ARC, then the sound works when the TV speakers are being used rather than the Sonos ARC. I have done, I think, most of the normal fixes, restart the ARC, uninstall and reinstall the HULU app. I am not sure where to turn to try and get this working again. I would appreciate any thoughts or help. Thank you, John
When Tv Autoplay is enabled it takes control of the Sonos Ray bar when playing music from Spotify (when Tv is off). I'm thinking the TV must be sending a signal via the optical cable and the bar detects this and changes input sources. With TV Autoplay disabled I have no issues, the same when unplugging the fibre optic cable with TV Autoplay enabled. Samsung TV.Anyone have any suggestions?
Diagnostic 520463197Sonos beam is connected to a onn. 32" Class HD (720P) LED Roku Smart TV through HDMI cable. It intermittently disconnects from the TV. The TV remote still works and the light blinks on the sonos if I adjust the volume but then sound is not working. Sometimes it will start working again and other times it does not. The setting for audio is the beam, it is not set up automatically choose audio. The connection is HDMI. I was told from the prior owner this was an issue he had with the beam and his TV. is there something I can do to fix this issue? All products are up to date. All products were have been power cycled. There are no other products connected to the TV. the beam doesn’t seem to give me any issues when I use music through the sonos app.
Hi, I know there are countless issues with this setup but fortunately I do not suffer from any of the regular problems. The issue I have is a problem mainly with the voices on any app on the Apple TV 4K, the voices especially male voice seem to be distorted almost too deep and slightly slowed down (they sound like Bane) but there are no audio/picture sync problems. If I use the tv ‘s built in apps with the same shows the problem is not there, I can only replicate the problem with the apps on the apple tv. I can solve the problem with changing certain settings on the tv but the solution is not ideal and I lose Dolby digital 5.1 in exchange for Stereo PCM with the appletv even though I still get Atmos. The setup that ends up with distorted voices with the apple tv isSamsung qn95a sound settingsOutput-receiver(HDMI-eARC)HDMI-eARC Mode-AutoDigital Output Audio Format- pass-throughSONOS Arc connected to HDMI eARCAppletv4k- sound settings.Default audio output- Receiver speakersAudio format-Of
Hi - Trying to set up my LG TV (an older TV) with my beam via the HDMI ARC. TV has option to use external speakers with the ARC. Beam works, and has worked using HDMI on previous TV. Only thing I can assume is the HDMI isn’t compatible with ARC? But not sure that’s “a thing”!any help much appreciated
Hi Forum!! Need again help to fix the connections between my LG TV and the ARC, since every time I turn off/onn the tv the connections is lost and have to redo the setup process to gain sound via HDMI ARC. (LG 65NANO886) Already have the last software update, but still have the same issues. I have run a diagnostic which is 11742033711. (The CEC features are off for the blu-ray but the problem still happens)
I have two rooms with Sonos, Office with a Play 5, and Lounge that had a Playbar, and two Sonos One SL surrounds. They have worked flawlessly for years. A few months ago I had to disable the lounge system for home repairs and just reconnected the system. In that time I have also upgraded to a Nest Pro 6e wifi system to replace the previous mesh. When reconnecting the lounge system - nothing worked - had to factory reset several times, the app could not find the devices, would fail halfway through etc. The Playbar kept saying it wasn't getting power or wifi and I spent hours trying to get it to work. Since I had an upgrade discount, and the room was refurbished, I decided to go ahead and get a Sonos Arc to replace the Playbar.I have the Arc paired with the two Sonos SL surrounds, but now I can’t tune the system, or check for updates as it can’t connect to the system. My Amazon Music account can’t connect, but the system plays fine over eArc HDMI, and curiously has no issue connect
I’ve had my arc only for 2 or 3 years and today is stopped playin tv audio. Nothing changed overnight. I can’t believe it lasted so short a time. I have absolutely no idea how to get it working again. Sonos app says connection issue. Tv no longer shows connection too. and here… to post Sonos wants me to choose a subject… where the hack is that. I see topics, but not subjects. Edit: I guess by subject, it’s really to pick a sub forum?Moderator Note: Replying to yourself first makes it less likely that someone else will reply (topic is no longer “in need of a reply”). And yes, it means sub-forum. I’ve taken care of that for you.
My family room system setup has one Arc , two surround One SL all connected and working fine. I bought two Sub Minis yesterday. I was able to add and pair Mini 1 with the existing system. Added Mini 2 also BUT unable to assign to existing system . I get error message saying “ A compatible Sonos Speaker is required to add Sub Mini and make sure speaker is powered on and connected to wifi “. But Arc speaker is already working fine with Sub Mini 1. Why same Arc is not compatible with Sub Mini 2 ? Thanks for your guidances.
Hi everyone, Does any of you know what could be the reason for the Sub casing to meltdown ? The sub is functional, but I am not sure if any of the internal components are affected. The sub was purchased new 8 months ago, and the warranty is still valid. I really love my SONOS system, and didn’t expect to see this on the case. Thank you in advance
When I bought my system, I was mis-informed by the store I purchased at. I was told wi-fi was needed for initial setup, but not to use system. I have the Beam Sound Bar hooked to TV in a camper. I have 2 TV’s linked together on opposite ends. I purchased the Move(s) to accompany the sound bar. Works fine together when I have internet, but when I have no internet, the moves will not connect. I spoke with a friend about this, and I was informed that there are devices that can create an “internal” type wi-fi without a connection to the internet. Would something like this work with a Sonos system? I would like to add the sub mini to the system if it will connect. Thank you in advance for your help!!
Hi, is there any reason on why I can’t stream music using Apple Music in my Apple Watch to my Sonos Beam soundbar?. This works perfectly with my iphone, but for some reason the Sonos device does not show up in my list of devices when I try to play music from my Apple Watch Ultra. I also tried with my wife’s Watch (Series 6) and we got the same result :-(.Is this a bug with the Sonos Beam device itself?. (Adding more to this, Im able to stream music to my LG TV, which also supports Airtplay, so this should be an issue with the Beam soundbar.)
Just bought a Sonos arc and sub refurbished from sonos.com connected to Samsung qled via hdmi arc and original cable. But after 30 min there was a loud pop/crack and then shut down. This happen again after a reboot. there was also some crackling/static sound once. diagnostic id : 1295034610
I’ve just purchased an Arc and 2 One SLs to connect to my new Sony Bravia XR55A90J TV. When using the tv as the source, I only get sound from the Arc. I can’t discern any sound from the Ones. When I play music via Airplay from my iPhone though, the One SLs play too and I get great surround sound. The Arc is connected to the tv via the HDMI eARC port and via Ethernet to Wi-Fi. The Ones show as connected in the Sonos app.I’ve used Trueplay a number of times and have disconnected and reconnected the Ones but nothing changes.
Afternoon all.I lost a couple of subs off my configuration a few weeks back. Odd and not something I recall happening for me before. My guess it might have been around the same time as having a few difficulties pairing up a couple of Sonos Ones and an ARC …. now resolved.Hoping someone could point me towards the procedure to reset and re-add the subs if someone would be kind enough to do that. The Subs are RJ45 connected and are run in conjunction with room based Amp’s and ceiling speakers. I don’t think there is any HW issue or NW issues, I suspect it is an unfortunate by-product of the new setup. Thanks in advance
