feature request: dual (or more) sonos ace for arc 2

Big deal breaker if a pair cannot be used simultaneously watching TV. Almost a DUH? What weren’t you thinking.

I was waiting for sonos headset for this. I guess I’ll wait too.

I doubt it’s a matter of “why didn’t we think of that” and more a matter of the Arc not being capable of sending atmos audio to 2 headphones at once or some other technical issue.  I can’t imagine Sonos would pass up the opportunity to sell you 2 Aces if it was just a matter of flipping a switch.

Technically speaking, it is over wifi so IP protocol should apply and IP has a feature of sending packets broadcast (multiple receiver at once) so the bandwidth for 1 headset is the same as for 3.

IF (and that is a big if) they use IP as transport for the audio.

My is an educated guess since the wifi for the speakers is compatible with the normal wifi of the router and potentially you can see the speaker over the wifi when not in bonding.

I could be wrong, also I read somewhere that not all features have been implemented or enabled because they explicitly ask for feedback and feature requests from users.

Even if there is any technical limitation (bandwidth?) on the current implementation of the Sonos arc,  I don’t see a reason why they couldn’t add another piece of HW to attach in parallel to the sonos arc (e.g. an hdmi splitter) with passthrough where they install the hw needed to having multiple sonos ace connected using some kind of broadcast or multiple frequencies, like having a sonos arc in series of a “sonos arc plug in”  without the speakers.

I mean on an engineering level I believe that it is a problem that has many solutions.

I only hope that Sonos sees this opportunity since the marked is really lacking of some real good dual headset configuration.

Well, you’re adding additional hardware to the equation, and I agree that it’s surely possible with additional hardware and software.  That does not mean developing and supporting this additional device makes good business sense.

On the point that bandwidth shouldn’t be an issue because the Arc can just broadcast the signal.  I get that, but my understanding is that there is some 2 way communication going on because of the Trueplay/True Cinema feature.  Maybe consumers would rather ditch that in favor of dual headphone setup.  Maybe something else is going on, I have no idea.  The point was that I don’t think it’s as easy as it may appear from the outside, as it seems like it would be easy money for Sonos if it was easy.

I do actually think that, eventually, Sonos will add support for multiple headphones  for TV audio.  Perhaps it will happen with the Arc, but I am doubtful.  There are rumors that Sonos is working on an Arc 2, and a video streaming box, so perhaps we’ll see the feature tied in to those hypothetical products.

Let’s hope that Sonos will listen to the customers as they said, for the moment i will keep my finger crossed.

Can Sonos please give some insight on this issue? I am hearing impaired and would like to watch the tv with my wife. I bought the Sonos Ace thinking that she could listen with the Arc while I could listen with the Ace. Huge and costly mistake.

If Sonos monitors this site I would ask that they respond if there will be a “fix” for this in the near future or I will be returning the product.

Absolutely my requirements too - at the moment the only options are turning the vlume to 11 (I only have 70db in one ear), or using really inferior 3.5mm plug in headphones for both of us. If this could be made to work, it would revolutionise our TV.movie watching!

Both features mentioned here are totally necessary for me and my family. 

Having the possibility for my dad with hearing problems to watch movies and tv with his wife without any big configuration steps is essential. I am sure, this is also the case for other people.

For me and my wife however it is essential to be able to enjoy movies while the kids are sleeping.

Come on Sonos, go for these features. Thank you!

I would definitely get two pairs if it worked that way, but won’t get one since it doesn’t.  Just make sure the upcoming new arc replacement has enough processing power to be able to do that.

I agree. The marketing is misleading on the website which caused me to purchase the pair.  
 

My primary use case is do my wife and I to watch tv after the kids go to sleep.  I would much rather remove some of the other features, like head tracking to have multiple connections.  Hoping it’s not a hardware gap and something they can correct via software. 

regardless, they should update their marketing and product pages to remove the deceptive content.

I bought a pack of two Aces headphones so I could finally have movie sessions while my daughter sleeps.
The marketing made me place an order with this description of the pack: “Use one pair of headphones at home and the other on the go. Share an immersive home cinema experience with another person by transferring the sound from your TV from a Sonos Arc to your headphones. Or keep one pair of headphones for yourself and gift the other.” Translate for this French sentence in the description : 

Utilisez un casque audio à la maison et l'autre pour vos déplacements. After trying, I spent three hours trying everything to get it to work on a Sonos Arc soundbar that I had just bought for this reason (I originally have a Beam Gen2). Then I came across this forum while searching for a solution in English. None of the many French reviews mention this. I am extremely frustrated.
I really feel like I was deceived by misleading marketing. Very disappointed with the brand, even though I was satisfied until now.
I really hope it's in their plan, and that it will be available in a future update.
The fact that Sonos wrote this in their short description of the pack gives me hope that it's planned. If not, it’s a disaster for customers like me, who suffer the collateral damage.

I plan to return one if not both headphones I pre ordered. I ONLY got these for the two headphones at once scenario when kids are sleeping, and for my hearing impaired father in law to use loudly while others listen thru the Arc. both are sadly not possible...

Yes this was a huge setback of the headphones. This together with the fact that it does not fully integrate with my Home Sonos system.. but that I infact need a playbar to connect through. 
At home I so wish I could just stream via Sonos app directly to headphones. 

I am hoping this will be added in near future. I would love to byu multiple headphones so that we can listhen to movies with great sound and not disturb others in the house at the same time. 
 

+1 to adding this feature. This would be an awesome feature for those living in an apartment with quiet hours.
