I tried to couple a Play 3 and SONOS ONE to the new app with an iPhone 15 pro max and whatever I tried it did not work. With older iphone models no problem

Another issue I'm noticing, apart from the app constantly failing to find my system, is that it keeps saying I'm listening to a completely different track in the queue

and when setting the volume louder or softer, the play3 responds in around 8 seconds. So when you set it to 0, the music will remain on for 8 seconds. A huge delay

For radio stations which provide metadata, why is it not used by Sonos now playing screen?

Here's a TuneIn stream via Wiim's app:

I just  want to thank the mods for what is a tough time, as this mess is not of their making, and I’m sure they haven’t been given all the answers everyone is demanding.

i just want to echo Ken’s sentiment.  I don’t deny the app is as glitchy as hell, and I’m experiencing the same issues as everyone else.  That aside I like the overall look, despite the inconsistencies and the missing items.  I never liked the old app at all, and in that regard I like the direction of travel.  (Sorry, I know this doesn’t add much to the conversation, I just wanted, if I may, to add a little positivity — it’s Friday, after all).

Hi Everyone

We know many of you are concerned about certain features going missing, so let us take this opportunity to say that the following features are coming back:

When will these be coming back? Next week? Next Month? Next Year?

Why did your email announcement in April 23 state:

How will this affect my system?

We've taken great care to ensure that this update only enhances your Sonos experience. Your products, features, and services will work as they always have, and all your settings will be saved.

When this is obviously not the case? Will Sonos be issuing a statement on how the company lied to all of us?

Since you’ve removed smbv1, have you fixed the smbv2 indexing bug? You’ve said it’s being worked on for a long time but as of last week or so a rep said it was still being worked on.

If I wasn't into this Sonos system for thousands of dollars I would be out the door. You said "the app software development team" will be getting feedback. Forget the feedback and FIRE the app software development team. WTF Sonos people? My android app says my ARC is connected via SPDIF - there IS NOT any SPDIF in my entire house!!!!! Somehow my Sonos app thinks I have rewired my system. I have mobility issues and I am unable to modify the connections within my Sonos system. I AM NOW UNABLE TO USE THE SONOS SYSTEM I PAID FOR..... WHY?

How long will it be before somebody turns up in this thread banging on about alarms (again and again and ag......)?

How about some constructive feedback and criticism? 😊

Yes indeed, the Alarms issue has been mentioned infinitum since the new App was launched and it’s by far not the biggest fish in the sea. At least there’s still a Sonos controller App with the ability to handle Alarms, aswell as other apps available, whereas there are bigger issues in the new App that need to be addressed… missing ‘playback features’ and ‘queue editing’,  just to name but two.

My issue is primarily with the local music library. Its completely buried in menus, no apparent way of refreshing/adding/changing the location. I want to have the main menu as a)Local library b) my own curated playlists then b) music services.

Worst of all, all the Artwork for all that music no longer appears!!

How in heck could this software have been released as some sort of improvement????

I’ve reverted to 16.1

I would like to to know when it will be safe to update to the new app?

I have a NAS drive were most of the music I listen to is stored.

Anyone download the app who has a home network library and has it working?

Why sonos is ruining itself?

The new app designer is competitor's mole?

A clear explanation about Smb. V1 removal and its implications is going to be needed 😎

Agreed on this. From my perspective it’s caused a lot of confusion as my aging WD NAS still seems to be working with Sonos so unclear if the restriction is in place or not, and the serious crippling of local library management in the app is making it impossible for me to experiment and definitely putting me off making an investment in a new NAS which I’d otherwise be accepting of given its age.

It’s great you’ve acknowledged most of the missing features.

However us customers are still in the dark on a timeline for their return.  Also it is nice the local library is still there, its a shame local library functionality as it was, meaning search and quick scroll browsing by letter may not come back as it was.

Regarding timelines, I posted it in one of the prior comment threads but is there any validity to the timeline that was posted on a UK retailers site.  (though it has since been removed as maybe they weren’t supposed to share it)?  Ive posted it below.

Waiting until July for queue management if the below is indeed true is unacceptable.  Especially since the UI seems done for it, at least according to Ken’s screenshot from promos and the backend OS functionality is there as queue management still works in the old app…  I honestly don’t see what the holdup is.

If we are talking about months for old functionality to come back please republish the old version of the app until this app is feature complete with the old app, or if needed for the new heaphones, at least republish new app when they are released.  There was no need for this redesign today.

Unfortunately as with most app launches nowadays, this isn't the finished article just yet. While the Sonos S2 App has launched with a solid foundation, some users might have noticed a few missing features including the ability to edit playlists and queues (frustrating we know). Here's some good news! We can confirm they are on their way and we've been able to compile a timeline for some of the crucial additions Sonos is expected to bring in the coming months:

Auto Trueplay / Quicktune Era (100 & Era 300) - Arriving in Late May

Snooze Alarms - Coming in June

Google Assistant Setup on Android - Coming in June

Sleep Timers - Coming in July

Find Missing Products Tool - Coming in July

Offline Devices - Coming in July

Queue & Playlist Editing - Coming in July

Local Music Library searching is something that is still being worked on.

Your support told me differently: “For what concerns searching the music library, this is not possible as the new App uses only universal search. To find the music library you can go to the Home screen and scroll down to Your resources. There you can browse the music library and start playback.”

This sounds to me like a “new app can’t do it” thing. I don’t know what “universal search” is, but this sounds to me that even if local libraries return, they will only be browsable, not searchable.

You can log into the new web app and try before committing to upgrading your mobile app.
https://play.sonos.com/en-us/web-app

From what I’ve seen in the web app I’ve disabled updates to my android app and in the Sonos system updates. I’ve also seen feedback that local music library is not visible at all in the mobile apps, but cannot confirm as I’m still on v16.1

That would be a deal breaker for me!
Local music library should be treated as another service.

Sonos released this Universal search IIRC over a year ago. That they haven’t implemented it yet is not a good sign. The response I got was use the desktop app while it works or use Plex. Not exactly inspiring confidence.

New SONOS App  absolutely not fit for purpose = All of my devices appear and the disappear. Advised by Tech Support to factory reset and re-register. Have added Playbar and Surrounds successfully - now surrounds have disappeared. Unable to assign SUB to Playbar due to a “bug with the SONOS App”

Essentially my SONOS system is unavailable now and the only thing that has changed is the App.

Currently looking at a 60min wait for Tech support via phone - this APP is not ready and should not have been released.

Pathetic from SONOS

That’s why a clear answer alongside releasing the update would have been so important. What I am picking up from Sonos is that the company itself is unsure when if and how features return, and I wouldn’t trust any roadmap they throw out there.

I do not wish to add to the confusion, I am trying to figure out what local music libraries are going to look like months down the line. But I feel like Sonos themselves have no idea and just quietly wanted to drag the entire feature behind the shed.

On the German forums moderators told us to “just use Plex, it’s free.” *shrug*
