Well, I bought into this SONOS system and it used to work awesome.  Now, it’s crap. Now I have all of these components and they're all as good as paperweights now.  I cannot get this BS system to work anymore for anything.  I have submitted diagnostics, well when the system will allow me to anyways, most the times I cannot even submit diagnostics because I can't connect to it or it just simply won’t let me.  I'm so frustrated with this system.  I have speakers in every room of my house and I sure wish I could control them.  My speakers drop off, one room will play one thing while the rest of the house is on something else or just gone.  I've spent time with the techs on the phone.  I've had to go to every single piece of equipment and unplug it and plug it back in. I just want to listen to music in my house but I guess I put all my money into the wrong system.  Anyone have a better system they are using now cause I'm ready to throw thousands of dollars away to get music in my house.  Sucks so bad.  So frustrated.  I hate SONOS now.

I’m sorry you’re experiencing those issues - especially since you acknowledge that your system used to be so good.

At the risk of upsetting you, I have to suggest the issue might be environmental rather than the speakers themselves. If the speakers did work, they probably will still work - if the environment is right. WiFi interference is a common issue. New electronics in your house, or failing old equipment, can cause interference. So can changes in your neighbours’ homes. Mesh wifis can also be an issue if not correctly set up.

Have you changed anything in your network?

Submitting diagnostics doesn't accomplish anything except create a file for a Sonos support tech to look at when you call them.

If you want to get your system working maybe the oth3r users here can help or you could call support.

I make a habit of rebooting my ISP’s router about once a month — else things can get weird. If i search the Internet, it’s obvious that I’m not alone. Sure, I could install my own router, but I’d rather save the money and at the moment a very basic router will suffice.

It’s not upsetting to get questions. I was hoping this would inspire some suggestions. It actually all fell apart when that major update to the app happened a few years back. It seemed nothing has worked right since then. I do have an Eero mesh and have excellent WiFi in every room. It’s fiber optic at the router and it’s the high-speed Verizon or Frontier service. I do have a lot of internet devices running all the time, cameras, lights, robot vacuum, etc. I thought the solve was going to be when the tech told me that only one device should be wired to my Eero system and I had as many things as I could connected by Ethernet. So I corrected that but it unfortunately did not solve my problems. I actually really do love my Sonos system and that’s why it’s so frustrating to me when it doesn’t work. I have 2 ports, a Boost, and multiple speakers everywhere you look in the house. So I really want this to work correctly. Thank you and everyone else for any help. I want to get this fixed so I can continue to recommend Sonos and buy more speakers.

What SONOS components are in your system? As a test power down the BOOST.

Yes I got the purpose of the submitting diagnostics and I have done it many times since I’ve owned this. It used to be that you could email the tech support dept and go back and forth that way and I’ve found them incredibly helpful in the past. It just seems that I have some evil spirit in my WiFi that won’t let the Sonos environment work. I don’t know I can’t figure it out. I really want this to work though and appreciate any and all advice, comments, criticism, verbal abuse, and/or help.

Do you mean power it down and leave it out of the system altogether or just power it down and do the 30 second pause and then plug it back in?  I’m skeptical that the Boost is even any good because it seems with the mesh system and my WiFi, the Boost may be so old it isn’t keeping up with my network or something. Anybody else have a Boost in their system and then had better results without it?  Is it even necessary anymore?  It’s the product I am using as the only Sonos product hooked up via wired Ethernet.

Does your mesh system channel-hop, or are the units all locked to one specific channel? As I understand, Sonos struggles unless the units are locked to a single channel.

A mesh network might create a fabulous network, but Sonos’ demands - a need for continuous communication to ensure uninterrupted music streams - is very different to a printer receiving a file from a computer, for example.

The Boost is old technology and provides a poorer connection to your older Sonos speakers, the newer ones ignore it. It is almost always better to go fully Wi-Fi unless Sonos recommends Ethernet to some speakers. My system is much better using modern Wi-Fi and with some speakers on 5 gHz.

Have you tried reserving addresses for all your Sonos in your router's DHCP Settings? Do that and then a network refresh to lock them in. That made a big difference here.

Both of those suggestions I will definitely do. I kinda figure the source of all my problems is that Boost.

I’m definitely going to try to make reservations in my Eero for Sonos. I’m guessing no Boost and reservations are really gong to help.

So agree. Speakers great, but software unusable. On the point of binning the whole lot after years of investment.

Took the Boost out of play. Works so great now, NOT!!!

Now stereo pairs of speakers are off sync and now my laptop can't even connect to the same SONOS system I've had for many many years. I swear I would love to trade all of my SONOS products in for a refund.  It’s not even worth listening to.  I’ve already reTruetuned the stereo pairs that aren’t synced and now two different set of stereo speakers in other rooms don’t sync with the other speakers. So bummed I wasted all this money.  But mostly bummed it’s not even worth trying to listen to music because it is so frustrating. What a joke.

Other than trying without the Boost, have you followed any of the suggestions already given regarding your wifi settings?

Also, you were asked but never answered the question: Please list by name and how many of each Sonos speakers you have. I have a reason for asking but need your input before elaborating.

YES I've tried everything they have suggested. I've unplugged everything. I've reset everything.  I've turned off my router and back on again.  I've even used AI to help and have followed all of its instructions.  I'm using my Beam to be the main piece of Sonos equipment and have only the Beam hardwired, everything else is using wifi. I have the Eero mesh and everything in my house works wonderfully except the Sonos system.  a set of stereo speakers will be off sync even though I've reTruetuned all of them and separated them and reconnected them as stereo speakers.  Now, I'm not getting any sound at all out of any of them.  The bar is moving showing that the song is playing but not a peep comes out of any room or speaker.  And yes I checked that the mute is off.  My paperweight system includes;

Living room - BEAM

Kitchen - 2 Play 3’s

Garage - 2 Play 3’s

Bathroom - 2 Play 1’s

Master bedroom - Port hooked up to a Yamaha Aventage receiver and 5 Yamaha speakers plus a subwoofer

Master bedroom - 2 Play 3’s

Master bedroom - 2 Symphonics lamps with the Sonos built in

Living Room - Port also hooked up to a Yamaha Aventage receiver with 7 surround speakers plus a subwoofer

Shed - 1 Play 1

Gym - 2 Play 1’s

And a partridge in a pear tree.  So you can see how much I enjoy music, I like to have it in every room of the house plus rooms that aren't in the house.  I've submitted diagnostics recently with an attached letter trying to explain the issues, there are so many they prolly fell asleep while reading the list, and they won’t email me back anymore with any suggestions.  So I have thousands of dollars of paperweights littered throughout my house and I am relegated to listening to my phone through a headset.  What an absolute bummer.  When Sonos first came out I was so impressed and happy with the company I even bought stock in it.  But just like the system itself, the stock took a hard dive down and has never recovered.  So I even lost money buying their stock.  Sold it for maybe half of what I bought it for.  I would just like to be able to listen to music without wearing headsets hooked up to my phone again.  anybody have any more ideas?  I'll do anything. I'll burn a chicken as a sacrifice if necessary or rub down my neighbors and kids with a dead chicken if I thought it would help.  Anyone, can anyone help?  Bueller?

With those devices listed, I’d downgrade everything to run on the S1 app.

I don’t know if this helps?

You mentioned:

I'm using my Beam to be the main piece of Sonos equipment and have only the Beam hardwired, everything else is using wifi.

This only is correct if you have "disabled wifi" on the Beam. If you haven't then your other Sonosnet capable devices will ignore your wifi and connect to the Beam generated Sonosnet if possible.

You can do the disable wifi option (not what it actually does) as you have no Sub or surrounds connected.

Personally I'd remove the Ethernet connection and avoid the issues it brings. If a wifi connection to the Beam is impossible then the disable wifi is a good fallback.

So I was told I should have at least one Sonos product connected by Ethernet cable to my eero base. This is not true and I shouldn’t have any of them connected via Ethernet? When I check each piece of equipment it says it’s using the Sonos OS:S2. I was told that is the SonosNet. Is that incorrect?

thanks for your feedback everyone.

The code for Sonosnet is WM:0 (see Check if Sonos is in a wireless or wired setup | Sonos). S2 is the operating system you are on. When one (older - the newer devices do not do Sonosnet) device is connected by cable all (older) devices go over to Sonosnet. So if you want to go over to full wifi no device should be cable connected.

Maybe this will help too: Recommended settings for using Sonos on wireless networks | Sonos

I don’t have an eero wifi so I’ve not bothered to read the support advice. I remembered others had experienced issues in the past, did a search, and provided you with a link to the article. Have you tried what they advise? Or are you still settling for the sacrificial chicken as the route to a fix?

Maybe you could start a new thread with a focussed subject title such as “Help needed configuring eero network” and see if anyone comes forward with their working solution?
