Controllers & Music Services

Trying to update my setup from SonosNet to WiFi, but under the Network → Manage Network options, there’s just a blank screen.  Was expecting “update network” according to the help article. Has this been removed in the new version of the app too?

I suggest that all volume settings be done with a dropdown list. The slider is too inaccurate and not easily repeatable.

Customer of 18 YEARS +.    First time I wanted to kick this system out of my house.   Nothing to do with the HARDWARE.    Nope.    All because of the latest CRAP Software update the Sonos Software Morons have rolled out  (BTW  I am a programmer -  industrial guided vehicles - I could have harmed people ! )I now have a system that switches itself on at times I set with ALARM FUNCTION in the Old OS.  I cannot turn them off.   I have to UNPLUG all the speakers every time we leave the house for more than a day.      And dont get me started on WiFi connection to the APP  (NOT the Sonos Speakers - that network is rock solid on my BT Fibre fed Router) .   But try to get the APP to connect on a 2 year old Android OS based mobile is a JOKE.   “Your System is not on this Network”   Tell that to the speakers that I can’t now turn off to watch the TV.      Sonos - Your last Software Update to S2 forced me to upgrade my PORT device at cost of £300.     This latest Update ( known as “Piece of Sh1T )

Today when I opened “Sonos Favorites” out of 20 all but 2 appear as a ghost like square, but with the correct station title below each one. Clicking on the ghosts results in the spinner, but not music. Works OK on the PC app. (Please Sonos, do not “update” the windows program!)

This new app has been a terrible experience to the point where if it is not fixed I will have to abandon my whole house Sonos Hardwired infrastructure. I can barely use the app to control my home. Latency in connecting, if at all. 1-2 min delays in response to action, volume challenges, etc. Etc. When will this be remedied?

Hi all, my Android app updated to a new version yesterday and I’ve had a bit of an ordeal… System is Arc/Sub/2xOne SL.After updating I lost the ability to stream music to the speakers. In the new version of the app it showed my Arc as the only product in the system, but I couldn’t do anything with it. It knew the sub and rear speakers were there because there was an option to remove them from the system, but they weren’t visible and pressing to remove them just crashed the app every time with a single tap.I assumed it was something gone slightly wrong during the app update, so I uninstalled and reinstalled the app. This was a mistake. Now I’m stuck on the app welcome screen, unable to even get into any settings or details because I apparently have no existing system, and there are no speakers or components available. Power cycling does nothing, pressing join button does nothing.I’m stuck on the welcome screen watching a guy make a matcha latte over and over like a fever dream. I decide

I see a lot of posts from people blindsided, like I was, by the new app. I call it the “Ace” app among other things.  I have been living with this downgraded app for several days now and thought it would be good to share mitigations / solutions that will allow for a somewhat normal experience until (if / when) the app is ever fixed.First if you are lucky and didn’t update your controller app, don’t. And block updates.  Although you may need to update at least one device with the “Ace” app for some features - see below.Controller Solutions:The good news is the Desktop Controller for PC and likely Mac still work pretty much as they always have. For now. Small blessings. Android users can roll back to a working version of the S2 app - search the forum for instructions. iOS users who dodged the update can use the non-updated S2 app. I have this on a non-updated iPad as well as my wife’s phone.  Some setup features have been turned off apparently by the speaker firmware but the “player” fea

I listen to the Sonos system typically listening to my own music. - music that I own. That’s completely gone now and even though I’ve tried every suggestion here to fix it, nothing works. Thanks Sonos! The application (IOS) reverts to the first room listed in my (now worthless) system and even after de-selecting that room and selecting another room - IT GOES BACK to the previous selection. I just want to listen to a streaming service since my music is NO LONGER AVAILABLE, and I can’t even do that.I hope Sonos goes out of business after screwing your customer base as you have. ALL of your employees, in particular the CEO deserves to be out on the street looking for a new job.

Please provide a way to go back to the old version ASAP. I use Sonos almost exclusively for my local library as it seems many people do and you have again (think bricking...) completely misunderstood your owners and people that have supported and invested in your products for decades. Congratulations on creating another media disaster for the company. I am sure the new app is trending on all platforms with angry users and people looking for alternate products. PLEASE LET US GO BACK to the old version until you sort this out.

Ever since updating to 80.01.30 on my iPhone and iPads, the Sonos app is extremely slow and unresponsive.  Volume and channel changes take an extremely long time to execute.  Antone experiencing the same issue?

HiI can’t change the room I play my music in with the new app. I select the room I want (and deselect the one I don’t want any more), but when I tap “apply” it reverts to checking the room I’m trying to move away from.  Is it just me?  I’m using the new Sonos app on iOS. (BTW I’ve stopped using my Sonos system for the time being - I can’t search my huge music library and I can’t play the music in the room I want to. I gather there’s a new update coming out in June?  I hope it at least renders the app usable!)

I and other customers should’ve been warned from downloading an updating their app, as I didn’t download it until almost a week after it was  available. Sonos is conducting bad business and possibly liable for our damages. Sonos knowingly had us download an app that wasn’t ready and is damaging my Wi-Fi and knocking me off-line at least 50 times a day. They knowingly had us download the update and after the first day, they knew it was corrupt and they still let us download it. I didn’t download it for about a week after it was out and I should not have been able to. They should have acted in good faith and warned me.  They’re arrogant defending their crappy product because they’re afraid of getting sued and they should be. I’m a civil litigator in Georgia and I’m seriously considering filing a lawsuit. I’ve had the Internet/cable company out twice already for Service related to this horrible app.  This is no different than if Sonos sent out a virus and damaged all of our computers.  Eq

You’ll learn a lot about Sonos’ management in the next few weeks/month with how the respond to this cluster*.  Do they listen, realize and admit that this was a mistake?  Or do they just keep moving “forward” in spite overwhelming reaction to this disaster? I’m old enough to remember when Coke changed the formula and rolled out New Coke.   They took something that was great and loved and completely ran it into the ditch.   Management ultimately swallowed their pride and brought back the original but the damage was done. What amazes me is that there had to be lots of people beta testing the Sonos app before it was released.   No one spoke up and said that this is garbage?    It a bad sign that no one spoke up and an even worse sign if no one realized it was horrible.Worst app I’ve seen in a long time.  Nothing about it is intuitive.  Navigation is confusing.  Can’t change between playlists...if I’m able to find playlists.  There’s a lot of content that shows up that I don’t want to see.

Bluntly speaking, the Sonos app update is making me consider leaving Sonos. I have heavily invested in my sound system but I can tell that the cultural move towards streaming services and not owning your music is phasing people like me out. I do not like Spotify or Apple Music or any of those services and hence why the new app format is useless for my needs and in fact makes it annoying to access my personal music collection. I understand that this is a toothless attempt at fighting piracy and owning physical media in favor of forever renting music media, but it should be noted that the new app is terrible for those of us who just want to stream our own collection via WiFi. What do you guys propose I do in order to get the best experience from using the Sonos app? I really don’t want to abandon Sonos but the app’s overall update direction is increasingly making it feel inevitable.

This app sucks. All I want to do is play my music. I dont care about services. This new app buries my own files. Crap!

According to an article in The Independent yesterday (25th May 2024) SONOS says “it is “moving quickly” to improve its new app, after an update that led to widespread outcry”.In addition..”It said that it was “fixing bugs and performance issues” while working to add features back into the app. A new update, released earlier this week, brings back support for Apple accessibility features, the option to play music from a local library and the option to add and edit alarms, for instance.”“Our latest update resolves some of the most critical known issues, but know we have more to do,” the company said. “We hear your feedback and are working hard to deliver the experience you expect and deserve.”Anybody got the update and installed it?. I checked yesterday, and several times this morning, but no sign of any updates to V80 of the App or V16.2 on my Mac (I’m in the UK if that makes any difference to a release).More smoke and mirrors from Mr Spence me-thinks while he surveys the pile of money

hi everyone, in the first configuration of the symfonisk frame, after connecting it to wifi, it forces me to update, but it can't get it updated giving me the 1002 error and even restarting it to factory data doesn't work, what can I do?

Since the new upgrade (?) on the Sonos app my Spotify will sporadically drop from playing on my arc when played from iPhone. It never happened before and nothing else has changed.

Radio.net has been removed as a Sonos service at their request. This was an important service for U.K. listeners as it gave access to non U.K. stations. I think this leaves us with just my tuner allowing us in the UK access to the world since Tunein/Sonos have blocked non U.K. streams. My tuner blocks access on other platforms - are there any other options for UK listeners ?

Haven't been able to achieve connection for two weeks.  At times it's seemed connected only to have my system say there are no products connected and start the process over or have the process not work.   what gives ?

It appears that the SMB protocol must be updated to at least version 2 with the release of the latest Sonos app. It is related to the issue many people are having with their Music Library folder. Here’s a short video that explains how to get and activate SMB V2.

In case anyone was having the same issue was having. I updated my Sonos app and Sonos speakers to the latest versions as of May 24, 2024 and the Alarms were still not showing in the Manage section of the app. I tried force quitting the app multiple times, deleting the app and re-installing the app, etc. What solved the problem was on the iPhone was to reset the network settings of the phone. In iOS go to Settings-->General-->Transfer or Reset iPhone. After selecting Transfer or Reset iPhone select Reset. After selecting Reset various options appear. Select “Reset Network Settings.” After the phone reboots sign back onto your wifi network. Open the Sonos app and the Alarms became visible.Hope this helps someone else in the same situation.

So, we’ve got a SONOS Playbar for 7-8 years now, and a Play:1 in the garage. It’s been working mostly flawlessly since we had it. We had a bit of issues with connectivity, but since plugging in the Playbar to ethernet and using SonosNET, it’s been pretty good. Queue a few days ago, when my wife went to play some music in the house after not using it for awhile. She had a new phone recently, too, so it had the latest update on it from recently being setup. It refused to play, and was only playing through the Play:1 in the garage. If we try and play anything to the Playbar by itself, we get the generic error message of “something went wrong”. The Playbar occasionally would even disappear for a moment or two from the app. It does not seem to matter from where I’m playing, iTunes Library, Music, Amazon, Sonos, etc. I started to look at it, and my phone had the same issues, even though I was still using the older version of the app. The same happens after the update to the new version (whic

After years of listining to the Sonos community talk about replacing the clunky old app, I want to thank Sonos for listneing to us.  The new app has beautiful, easy to use graphics and layout.  It looks great and is easy to use.  Congrats on a job well done Unfortuantely I’ve also had a few other problems.  I wonder if others have had the same problems. Can’t group rooms anymore Can’t control volumes in multiple rooms can’t find my radio stations can’t find the alarm settings extremely low volumesAm I alone in finidng these problems?  I’m sure that since the app is so nice to look at, that it’s impossible that these problems are created by the app.  I’m sure the problem must be pn my end.  I think it’s completely reasonable to expect some minor gliches in the rollout and I’ve just decided to turn off the speakers and wait until these problems have been resolved.  No big deal.I can’t wait to save enough money to buy the headphones as well!

The day I updated the app on the S2. my TV room system magically disappeared from my system. Tried to add the system back, was forced to update the app. Downhill from there. Added the system, couldn't register is with my account. Restarted all speakers, router, modem, wired it in, nothing. Found out that I needed to reset the app, was able to register my speakers. Woo! 2 days later, here I am.. I have 2 systems and only one works. Beam + 2 One SL’s working great. Other room, Arc SL, One SL, One, Sub Mini, working part way. Sound comes out, surround is working, but I cannot control anything from the iOS app. When using the iOS app, you can see the room, select the room but nothing will work with it. Select Spotify, it just spins. Select the other room, music will instantly play. Watching TV, cannot control volume, or select a source. Using the Web App, I can control the room, select a source, play music from Spotify (on the Sonos web app) but OS app, nothing.  I know this new app is abso
