Desktop and Android app have started telling me "spotify returned no results for _____ in artists. Please try a different category or a new search term" this morning. Has replicated on multiple devices. Only happens for Spotify and only in "artists", albums and playlist search still works. Any idea if I changed a setting or if something is wrong on their end?

I’ve reset the speakers and restarted the apps.

Hi @conor @Emmer @mcolls @DiabloGuapo @User680893

We were unable to reproduce this issue in our own testing.

If you are still unable to search Spotify, please try removing your Spotify account from your Sonos system and adding it again.

Remove a music service account from Sonos

Add a music service to Sonos

If that does not help, I recommend you get in touch with our technical support team who have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your Sonos system and what it reports.

I hope this helps.

*, go * fix it !

Right…?!! It was working for a while, now it’s not working again.

It’s not working again….why can’t they solve this?!!

Just updated my Sonos software to have this bug appear. Here’s an idea Sonos: Since you do so many app updates, why don’t you fix this apparently longstanding and annoying issue?

This has nothing to do with any app update. Its a service-side issue, with the Spotify SMAPI endpoint, which is owned by Spotify or Sonos (it’s no longer clear whom).

I just noticed this here in Sweden also, artist search on Spotify S1 does not work poperly, but it does work in my Local Musiklibrary.

I actually get some results from spotify if I search for 1 letter:

Searching for: A

Gives results from spotify:

A* (with avatar/icon)
A* (without avatar/icon)

Both are A* Radio

Get similar for C, G, J, K, N, P, Q, R, S, W and Z.

Seem premature!

tech support told me that they are working on it … suggested to search and play thru the Spotify app

This started happening for me the other day, pretty sure after I upgraded to the latest version. MacOS desktop SONOS controller app. I have included screenshots below of attempting to search for artists and albums in both Spotify and Amazon Music.  In Spotify, I can reproduce the problem in this thread, where searching by artist fails even for unmistakably correct input. My example search was for “eminem”. I tried others as well, and each time, the artist results are blank but the album and playlist search work.  I have no problem playing Spotify on my Sonos on any system (Fives, Ones, etc)

SONOS OS: S2 Version 15.6 Build 74043110

Spotify: Searching for “eminem” found nothing under artist.

Spotify: Album Search for “eminem” works.

Spotify: Playlist search for “eminem” works

Amazon Music: Searching for “eminem” under Artist works.

A friend of my is running the S2 app also, he says that the new Search works but when he selects  “Classic search” it does not work, since Im S1 I can’t verify that.

Still not working indeed. What’s going on at Sonos ?

It’s ‘what’s going on at Amazon?’, where these searches are done. All Sonos does is pass the request on, and then report what they get back.

What is the solution to this?

Can’t believe this is happening again!

This started for me yesterday. I hadn’t made any changes other than rebooting my router and Sonos devices to improve connectivity. Artist searches return no any results. However, I can search by album or song, then browse the artist, so that’s my workaround.

Tech Support said this is a known problem, but they have no timeline for resolving it. It would be nice if Sonos at least posted about this outage on their support page and in the community so customers don’t have to waste time troubleshooting and calling support. It will be even nicer if they proactively notify customers when this is resolved.

(I run a mixed S1/S2 setup, and am located in the U.S.)

Still an issue.  Shocking that artist search in spotify on S2 cpu and phone app does not work.  yes, I can do through spotify directly and then select a speaker but thats annoying…..

Still happening for me on the MacBook controller, rebooted everything, readded spotify, I have to use “”

the new search on android app works though…

getting a random skip in the tracks every now and again. I’m not sure if this is related.

Super frustrating Sonos. Clearly everyone is having the same issue. Search does not work on my updated Sonos app on my iPhone with brand new Sonos One’s all around my house. Not user error, app error. I’ve reconnected and disconnected Spotify numerous times.

Clearly, Spotify rolled back the fix they made on their side. One has to wonder how many people are telling them directly, rather than yelling at Sonos….

Surely this is doing some serious reputational/brand damage. Can’t imagine many people are running around singing their praises as this issue goes on, and on…

Yes, me too! after hours uninstalling, re-installing - adding the service again, I too had it working for maybe 2 week - and it has stopped working again - on iOS and MacOS. please - please fix this.

I was told it was an issue with my computer - I see form so many blogs, and so many on the blogs - it is not just me it seems!

I have the same issue. Unable to search artists in Spotify. I control my system from an ACER laptop.

Same problem.
Spotify search by artist finds nothing, in Android S2 classic search and in Windows desktop client.
Search by album name etc works; search by artist in Amazon etc works; on Android S2, new search works.

This issue is still present and is not resolved.

I have been experiencing this for some weeks now. The workaround that functions best is to search on Spotify and select your Sonos as a medium to play the music from. Kind of ironic that the intelligence is in Spotify then and Sonos just serves as an overpriced loudspeaker 🤣
