Just installed the new app. But I can’t find where the music library went. Also no option to add a folder to the library
Moderator edit: We have an article with instruction on how to add a music library share on Windows and MacOS. Have a look.

Happy again, really !!
I posted before because I was able to install the old Sonos Android App version on my phone but not on my tablet and also not on the phone of my wife, but now I solved that….
There are 2 variants of the same app for android. I found them on APKMirror : https://www.apkmirror.com/?post_type=app_release&searchtype=apk&s=sonos where I selected version 16.1 and downloaded both files for armeabi-v7a and arm64-v8a. One variant installs on my phone and the other on my tablet and on the phone of my wife.
First download these files and after downloading you temporary disable all automatic updates, install, disable updates for the Sonos app and enable other updates again.
I think I followed the next steps :
Turn off WiFi, you may leave your data connection on.
Now we turn of the automatic update for Sonos only and enable other automatic updates again. Leave your WiFi off, you want to have your data connection on.
Now start the “new old Sonos app”, connect to your Sonos and login.
Maybe there are little mistakes in the steps above but I hope this helps people to get the previous version back.
How can I access my local music library? I simply can not believe you messed this up
Is there anyway Sonos can refund me for my speakers as since the new update I can no longer use them for what I bought them for. I.e play my music I have saved on my hard drive. I am very dissapointed, set up folders of favourites etc that are now useless. Had my whole record collection converted to music files in folders, now sonos no longer finds this data. I have no use for my sonos speakers without this connection. I dont want to use spotify or other streaming app. Will be looking into getting a new system that hopefully I can control and connects to my hard drive on my network, that wont be pandering to the streaming companies whims.
Sonos was already once hit with a products liability class action lawsuit regarding its Arc soundbar defect. I believe what it did now can be a ground for another lawsuit. Basically they took away the product we paid for.
The purpose of software updates is to fix bugs and improve functionality. SONOS does the opposite. A year ago or so it removed functionality to access local files on mobile phones saying that new Android OS does not permit access to local files. There is HEOS mobile amp that works with Integrated Amplifiers like Marantz and Denon and it does give access to local files stored on smartphone to play through wi-fi connection to receiver (similar architecture like in SONOS). Is it incompetent SONOS developers or deliberate lie to customers?
Just another person who casually clicked ok to update the app, then found they could no longer play their own music on their own speaker.
Now I’m wasting my evening reading support forums and even registering here to vent my frustration.
How did this happen? How long until a fix arrives?
I’ve completely lost trust in Sonos tonight. Please sort quickly as my Sonos speaker is suddenly a redundant lump of metal and plastic.
I was able to restore functionality of my music library by using Plex on my NAS. Others can set up PLEX servers on their computers also. Not perfect, but at least workable until the idiots disable PLEX.
Sonos- you are not courageous but incompetent.
BTW no joy in rolling back to old IOS app as my music library no longer is available on old app or Mac.
This is unacceptable.
Please just bring the local music library functionality back. I bought an Amp and a One SL for this purpose.

It’s ridiculous! We bought Sonos Hardware to listen to our music. Their apps have a long history of being shit so I never update unless they force it which is what they did here. Local library was already gone and app prompted that I had to update to restore it. Honestly I hate everything about Sonos except their hardware.

It’s great that you could do this but the fact is we shouldn’t have to do it and many probably lack the expertise to do it.

Me too.
Does anybody know if Sonos is going to restore our access to I-Tunes libraries? The reps are so vague and unhelpful. It took over an hour to get through to Sonos on May 13, as I'm sure everyone is calling on to complain about this crappy update.
If they don’t another class action lawsuit will come.
In case it is useful, after waiting on hold this morning for 70 minutes, a pleasant Sonos tech support rep told me after checking that they plan to push out a fix for this mid-June. She said this hasn’t even been the main problem being reported with this disastrous new app, also mentioning failures to connect new equipment and initiate new services. She even told me that her own music library is now inaccessible so she’s waiting alongside the rest of us.
I hope some of you might find my update about this disastrous launch useful and if you find a workaround (excluding third-party apps) please leave it here!
It is amazing how completely incompetent they are and how much they suck.

We are all beta testers of this piece of garbage. Shame on you Sonos. Bring back this functionality now, not “mid-June”.
My main reason for purchasing Sonos speakers was in order to listen to my Apple music library anywhere in the house, particularly for my mother once she became confined to bed. Having just been prompted to update the desktop app, I find that the Music Library has disappeared and the app will no longer allow me to add it, giving the following message: Unable to add the shared folder “//Mac-Pro-2/Music” to your Music Library (913).
I cannot imagine why Sonos should have decided to remove this simple facility and I will never again recommend your products to anyone.
Nor will I buy another!
Under “Your System”, your music library should be listed under “Your Sources”. It might take a little bit for it to appear as it didn’t appear immediately for me.
Over 8 hours later it still does not appear.
I enjoy listening to my music on my speaker throughout the day. I’d like a fix now, not a month away.
Sorry, I don’t trust Sonos anymore so waiting a month for a fix feels like vague promise.
Please roll back the failed update as soon as possible or else my Sonos is going in the mail to you, even if it costs me and I’m in the market for a functioning product that will play my cherished music this weekend.
Same problem here. I cannot access my extensive music library without Sonos. If the new application is not fixed, and if I cannot find a way to go back to an earlier version of the application, I will have no choice but to go to a different system altogether. I have too much invested in my library--both time and money--not to be able to use it.
We lost the ability to see the library on the old app so I don’t think rolling back is going to help. The timeline for a fix (mid June) is unacceptable. I will never pay a dime to Sonos for a subscription. I bought their hardware and that’s all I wanted.
This is how I feel about the new app. I used to enjoy browsing through my local music library, selecting songs, albums, artists to add to my queue, and then tweaking (some might say curating) the queue and then, if I really liked the results, creating a playlist from the queue. Now?...I have to scroll endlessly through the thousands of songs and hundreds of artists and albums in my library to find the ones that I want without the benefit of the A-Z slider on the right to jump through the list. And, then, after all of that, I can only play a single selection without the ability to add them to a queue. That is absolutely infuriating! Now, I am forced to play a single song at time in some cases. Ridiculous! What is modern about an app that doesn't let you search and curate your music how you want. I have more music management features on my cheap blue tooth speakers. They have made it so, so hard for me to play and enjoy my own music. They have turned this into a process that I just dread. Way to go!
At least you can access your library! That puts you way ahead of most of us. The new apps Trash ️
It has been clear for a while, for example with the new s***tier search I had to roll back to get rid of, that Sonos holds users with local music libraries in utter contempt. It is absolutely beyond me why this is the case, but there you are. On top of the legion issues over recent years with the app being a buggy pain to use, this is an insult too many.
So, I'm on the hunt for a 3rd party app that will allow my Sonos speakers to continue to render my local music library while I focus my new purchases on other manufacturers.
Good luck, Sonos, with whatever your strategy is. Alienating seemingly almost your entire customer base with your arrogance and "courage” certainly has me perplexed.

Please let the group know if you ever find another app that will work with the speakers. Agree I am done with Sonos Apps
+1 so Sonos fix this as not able to access My Music on my ipad, once again Sonos have moved from their ‘Music for Life’ mantra.
I use Sonopad as an alternative, no issues whatsoever.
What is Sonopad?
Well, at first glance is looks like the app version 80.00.08 is yet another disaster. Why do they do this? First 2 speakers just stopped working. Next, I can find no way inside the app to navigate to music stored on a local server, like I used to be able to do. They only list “services”. Reaction time of the app seems to have gone to ****. Starting a service, adjusting a volume - All is delayed now.

Can't access music library with new app. When I could, no alphabetical access and unable to shuffle songs. What gives?
I was able to roll back to a previous SONOS version issued in March 2024, also I disabled auto-update. Everything worked fine until today - a key functions became grayed out and message popped out “These functions will not be available until you upgrade to a new SONOS app”. So, dead end!
Let’s write to SONOS CEO, Patrick Spence, at ceo@sonos.com. Let’s ask him to immediately roll back this current version and remove algorithm forcing users to update software.
I downloaded and paid for sonophone and it is no better also doesn’t find my local library. Looks like I wasted $3
