This is an odd one. With the Sonos app on my PC everything works fine, with it on my iPhone or iPad (I have S2 gen) the music library is not found. But if I start playing one of my playlists via my PC the app on my phone recognises the track playing and can pause and restart it, change volume etc, but the app still thinks I have no music library! I have deleted the app, tried to put in the path to the library (not found even though it is a cut and paste and the same as the PC path). All the problems have been since the new App.

cheers and Seasons Greetings!

Hi @Clive Randall

Welcome to the Sonos Community!

Sorry to hear of this issue you are having with Music Library not showing in the mobile Sonos app.

Rather than reset anything, I recommend you get in touch with our technical support team who have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your Sonos system and what it reports.

I hope this helps.

If you log in via your laptop then the playlists are still there. It is just the phone App that is faulty 👍

This is the easiest way to set up a Windows PC share.  My library is on a NAS, but I did create a small test share on my Windows 10 PC just to see how it works.  I added a folder to my desktop and put one album in it.  Next I shared it using the suggestion in the link.  Then I used the Sonos PC app to add the share.  I used the 3rd option “Networked device…” to add the share ( the other two don’t work ).  The path you want is shown in the folder’s Properties - Sharing screen.  Copy and Paste that path to the screen in the Sonos PC app.  After the Index the library should show in the mobile app.

Sorry - will this mean the Sonos App on my phone will access the music on my NAS again? My laptop already does without any issues.

thanks

Ohhh… I didn’t know your music was on a NAS.  I thought it was on your Windows PC.  What NAS brand?

When I added my NAS share I used the Sonos Windows PC app.  I used the 3rd option “Networked device…” only this time I used Browse to look for the folder listed in Network.  That Network folder was near the bottom of the folder listings when you scroll down the list.  Also the Network folder was colored blue as well as the subfolders.  It looks exactly as it does when you map a network drive.  All the icons are blue; at least on my Windows 10 PC they are.

Find your music folder and click on it.  The path will be automatically entered in the Sonos PC App Library Settings screen.  Index will follow.

It is a QNAP, a decent machine. Yes all that worked fine, and it all works on the App on my laptop. But even though signed into to App on the phone and even with a playlist playing (as instructed by the laptop) the App on that phone does not think I have any music library at all. Very frustrating.

Many thankd

How old is the QNAP?  Is it using SMBv2/3?  SMBv1 will not work with the new S2 app.   To find your music share the  NAS needs to be using SMBv2/3.  For the old S1 Sonos app you need the NAS to use SMBv1.  Makes life interesting if you are using both the old and new Sonos apps.

It is on v2 and the Sonos system is S2, I guess otherwise it wouldn’t work fine on the laptop App. To be frank I entered the world of Sonos many years ago for their hi-fi quality, and I didn’t sign up to the increasing stress / flakiness and level of internet and App dependency. I am considering flogging the lot and going back to the market to look for hi-fi quality.

i think I need to uninstall everything, including on the laptop and start again.

cheers

Clive
