Hey all, today we're sharing a message from our chief innovation officer, Nick Millington in the announcement here. Going forwards we will update that topic and we therefore close this one for further replies.

We set out to create a more personalized and effortless listening experience with the updated Sonos app. It was rebuilt from the ground up to ensure it could support future innovation in the years to come. For its initial rollout, we focused on how we could answer some of the most common requests from our customers, including increased reliability, performance, and faster access to music.

Many of you have shared valuable feedback on both the improvements that have made your experience better, as well as the areas where we fell short. We are listening to all of your comments and working to address them as quickly as possible. Over the coming weeks, we will reintroduce the below features, while fixing bugs and performance issues. Thank you for your engagement and we look forward to building upon this first step to create a listening experience that meets everyone’s needs.

I still have not got the latest Android controller release, but it does say rolling out over a few days.

Also says that there is a new iOS version released on the 16th, not sure if that is also a staged release.

There’s a new iOS version appeared today. Not sure how “new” it is - the “compilation album / guest artists” bug is still there (despite being fixed a few days ago in the desktop controller).

Is there intent to add back in the line level input settings for things like turntables ?  It doesn’t exist in the new app.

Well, you did it again. The music library disappeared again from android & windows pc & will not re-install with error 1002.

Where is your library?  What kind of network do you have?  Define the procedure you used to try to connect to your library.

Still nothing from the Play Store when trying to update Sonos, so that’s 4 days and counting.

If they say they’re releasing a new version it would be nice to actually get it.

@Tyrbiter don't bother. App still sucks big time.

This new update hasn't made it to my phone yet. I wish it would hurry up.

Still nothing.

Still waiting..

Hi @Parsnip62

The latest app for Android is on a rolling-release and will reach 100% availability tomorrow, if all goes well.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply. Appreciated.

Well, I suppose that is something but that means I must be in the last 14% as after 6 days I don’t have it. Oddly neither do either of my wife’s Android devices. Mathematically unlikely but there you go.

Finally got it!

I'll give it a go when I get home tonight.

Finally got it!

I'll give it a go when I get home tonight.

I finally got it too …. and I’d have to say: Some progress has been made!

  1. It appears that the indexing bug is indeed resolved for my local library
  2. I can add and reorder and remove items from the queue, and the reorder and remove mechanics are intuitive.

The bad:

  1. I did manage to get into a bad state where I had a queue, added a song to it, then wanted to remove a song from it -- and the queue, while it would still play, would no longer open for viewing or editing. “Something went wrong.”
  2. Still no album art from the local library.
  3. AND:  I hadn’t had this happen before, but over the course of playing 6 songs, 3 of them cut off unexpectedly before the end of the song.  I got disgusted and stopped playing music altogether.

Still not here for me.

Hi @Tyrbiter

The last 50% of users will have the app made available to them today - the rate at which new users were having the app made available accelerated as the week progressed.

I hope this helps.

Hi @Gaham

You don’t have the update available in the Google Play Store? Could you please post a screenshot of that page, being sure to show the version and date? Thanks.

Finally my S23 showed the update, but I had to go to the actual app page in the Play Store, I didn’t get it by refreshing the installed apps. I will see if the update has made it to the other 2 devices in the house, which it has and they both updated normally too.

The compilation album thing does not seem to be fixed for me. I did a rescan last night but it made no difference.

Also, Sonos folks - reinstating album art is not on the road map. When will it be added?

If you go into the about my system section, what software versions are listed against your speakers?

System is up to date.

Are you able to post a screen shot of what you see now? How do you tag your compilations? Do you use the iTunes compilation tag, or set the album artist to ‘Various Artists’ for all compilation tracks?

I'm away for over a week now, but my older compilations were ripped using iTunes however long ago with the compilation album tag. Newer CDs have been ripped using dbpoweramp.

I've not checked to see if if there is a difference between them, but this was all displayed perfectly well until the late summer.

My biggest concern is the custom services. I am not even seeing this as on Sonos’ radar? I have all my music stored in the cloud which I used to be able to browse from iOS and Android. Now it only works on Mac. If I already added items using Mac, I can play, stop, skip etc but not add new items. It is very annoying having useless phone apps but not as bad as if the desktop also didn’t work. I wish I had never upgraded.

Update on the “bad state” above:  It appears that any time a track is added to a queue to “Play Next” as opposed to at the end of the queue, that the queue becomes undisplayable, and therefore uneditable.
