Talk about Sonos S1 and S2 Controller apps for mobile, and the desktop app. This is also the place to talk about partner apps, Airplay, and direct control.

Just updated to latest app and the search function doesn’t search my nas. I have found out that this is new search and I need to change to classic search. In my app the search box comes up just as a single line search and no options to switch to classic and no options in settings anywhere. I am on iPad.
Hi I’ve not posted before and it’s a little confusing but here goes. Like loads of other people on here after updating the new Sonos app nothing works properly.i have a possible solution. I’d like me you have old iPhones or iPads in drawers not used , grab one. If the phone or iPad doesn’t have anything higher than iOS 15 installed it’s ideal. First turn off iOS updates then download Sonos 1, this will ask you to down load to s2. Click the button and a message will inform you that the new app can’t be run and an older version will be installed. That the gold sonos thumbnail one.Im now back up and running on the system with no probs. Hopefully Sonos/apple will fix the new app problem but until then give this a go.
Thanks again Salami Slices- I do have my library back and it is functional! I still do not have ability to search and play/rearrange songs from queue like before but for now, I am OK. I do have a question. I created an Amazon playlist. It does show up in my music when I select Amazon as my streaming service. It plays the same songs though and there is no ability to shuffle or turn on crossfade. I read you need to load to a SONOS playlist. I can’t do this- is this because the functionality broke with 80.00.04 and 80.00.11? Does anyone know how I can get the Amazon playlists copied to SONOS playlists? I know Apple and SONOS do not play well together but thought I could get Amazon working.
I have been a big fan of Sonos for some time. I own the Arc, Sub (Gen 3), Beam (Gen 2), Sub Mini, and Move. While the previous app was not very good it also wasn't very bad. It was tolerable even if the user interface looked like it was designed by a high schooler in an entry level computer class. At least it worked with minimal lag.For all of the reasons stated by your customers the new app is a complete disaster. The fact that you would release such an app tells me that you are either grossly incompetent or you just don’t care about your customers. Do your software product managers understand how to create a product roadmap and how to determine customer needs and requirements? I may never buy another Sonos product because of this utter failure. I am disgusted with you Sonos and suggest that you start consulting your legal team because there may be multidistrict litigation or class action litigation arising from the adverse impact your new app has on a consumer’s ability to enjoy the
Can Sonos add Fan noise to its choices of sounds to play for sleeping? You have a white noise, but I would like something deeper in sound, like fan noise. Or what some call, green noise.
How do I turn lossless audio streaming off, specifically in the Apple Music service, but also in any other service that I might use. I seemingly do not have the bandwidth to stream it reliably, and I suspect that is because my internet connection is fixed wireless. Moreover, I can’t tell the difference anyway, so the larger data stream is simply not required.
At Sonos, we take accessibility seriously and aim to build listening experiences that everyone can enjoy. The redesigned Sonos app was built from the ground up to support both modern and future Sonos experiences, and as part of that, we’ll be implementing ongoing improvements and enhancements over time. On May 7, the app will have basic support for screen readers, allowing you to swipe through and read through all items on the screen. Following launch, ongoing improvements to the accessibility of the updated mobile app will remain a top priority. A software release available May 21 will improve screen readers so you can select items on screen in any order. Further improvement will be added to the experience regularly until we reach parity with the S2 app by late June. In the meantime, the Sonos Windows and Mac applications will continue to operate as normal until our new web app has met our accessibility standards. Thank you for your patience as we continuously improve the accessibili
I have been waiting for this feature for a long time, and now that it's finally here, it feels underwhelming. It only works about half of the time, other times I need to scrub the song to get it to start lossless, and sometimes the music just cuts off and playing the next song does nothing, it only plays silence. I have to choose a different album or playlist to get it to play music again.Has anyone else experienced this?
What set up do I need to qualify for lossless equipment wise. I have arc, play3 & sub gen2. I just wondered if there were any minimum or preferred requirements. Someone seemed to think that his wasn’t compatible as he only had a gen2 sub. I wasn’t aware that any subs were incompatible with anything.
Since the macos App will apparently be retired, I’m trying to get used to the web app.I need to log in almost every time I visit https://play.sonos.com, which is an issue in and of itself, but the biggest problem is that every time I log in, it shows an Internal Server Error, and the URL points at a playlist. I’m not happy about losing a native app, but I’d hope the errors in the web app can be sorted out.
I just bought a Sub Gen 3 and want to connect with my existing Move as well as with my 3 Era 100 but I cannot add it to the group I created? How does that work?
Hi, all my Shows/Podcasts just show as no longer available in the new iOS app. I presume they came with TuneIn. My TuneIn stations are playing, but perhaps through Sonos stations (not sure how that all works). I tried reauthorizing TuneIn under Podcasts, but it just hangs. This is not necessarily a Talk Sonos product, so I will repost in the correct spot (now that I know).Well, I can’t move the post, and I can’t repost in just the regular Controller and Music Services area. So, I’ll leave here.Moderator edit: Combined posts, topic now in Controller and Music Services section.
I have a 9-unit Sonos system (Connects and ZP100s) running as S1.My control tablets are on 6.0.1, running the app v10.3 (build 51166240). Seem to remember it was the last version my tablets could run.If I update the system :What is the minimum Android version that latest S1 app need to work ? (ie will I need new tablet controllers ?) What Samba (SMB) version does it use to hook up to network (NAS) filestores ? - My NAS has been forced to stay on SMB 1 (deprecated) to communicate with the app I’m running – yes, I’m aware of the security risk. Rather move to a secure SMB version. Yes, I’ve seen about the Raspberry Pi workaround, but that opens a whole new rabbit hole for me.
I've read in this forum that everyone appears to be having major problems with the current version of the app. Unfortunately, I have the same issues; lost playlists, lost access to radio stations (doesn't like Radioplayer, My Tuner etc) . I've tried contacting them but the Chatbot just takes you round in circles. Is there an email address to try? Or anyway to downgrade the app? Thanks
I haven’t even checked other posts and them likely seeing to the choir here, but I’m at least vaguely amused by the new Sonos app that is more difficult to navigate through and has the same exact issues as the previous app. Now they’re just harder or impossible to get to. I just downloaded the new v80 Sonos S2 app and first impression is not too good. Hope they change this soon. This is what is foundThe app gives an error when trying to play a radiostation on MyTuner Radio service in the Recently played section. Some contact card are so big that when you want to swipe down to close it, I open the Homescreen/Lockscreen of my iPhone. When I want to play a radio station from the Favorites section an additional unnecessary card is opened with only a Play button. Why not start playing without opening this screen? The favorites are now mixed. So Spotify and RadioStation favorites are in one list. That is annoying. The list of favorites is not sorted in any way neither can they be ordered according to my favorites. The room for the name of the system on top of the Home Screen is very limited and so, it is always abbreviated with dots. What is your annoyance?
Who could have possibly thought it was a good idea to sign off on this new app
When Sonos first launched, they were strictly a music product. Frankly, they changed the way a lot of multi-room audio was done back then. Average consumers without any audio experience could start creating "zones" and the coolest thing was the ability to have a different music source in each zone at the same time! Many of us early-adopters jumped on the chance (at the recommendation of SONOS I might add, a feature/benefit they really pitched) to put our CD Collections onto a hard drive or preferably a NAS device. My God I could now listen to all the music I bought on CD in any room individually or grouped together with no lag or delay ... this IS the reason I bought into this eco-system from the beginning and spent lots of $$$ over the years. The surround sound market came years later. Suddenly today the music seems to be secondary, ... I was surprised to see how many people wanted the new headphones for TV and not music. So a new App launches and all of a sudden, this old crowd didn'
Anybody read the Verge article https://www.theverge.com/2024/5/22/24162168/sonos-ceo-patrick-spence-new-app-design-interview. How can anyone be as dense and stupid as Spence. Really? Really? Look at the community here. Look at Twitter. Look at reviews on the App Store. This was the most pathetic and disastrous rollout of new software in this history of the planet, and the guy totally doesn’t get it and is spouting fiction and excuses. Un..f...ingbelievable.
I’m at a different location away from my Sonos products. I tried to open the app and it just says no products found and won’t go further. Do I have to be with my Sonos speakers to open the new app?
My Mac desktop controller keeps asking to upgrade. I’m refusing given the app debacle and I don’t want to lose a controller that actually works. I am I being overcautious and a desktop upgrade won’t have the same issues, or should I keep refusing for now?
I have a Sonos 5, Tidal, and an Android phone.Pre-update, I could select Tidal>My Collection>Tracks, then I pick a song and it would play that song and every next song without me selecting it. Just like I wanted. Pick it and forget it. Hours of songs on my Sonos 5.Post-update, I could select Tidal>My Collection>Tracks, then I pick a song. Now, it plays that one song and stops. No automatic advance to the next. If I want the next song, I have to select it.I’m sure I haven’t found the correct settings to make it work like pre-Update. How do I make it work like it did pre-Update? I, humbly, thank you for your help. Oz
Hello everyoneYesterday I managed to get My Library (the My Music folder on my Windows 10 desktop) to be recognized and connect to the new app. Today it seems to be working well on all my speakers and using Desktop and Android phones to control. It could be something Sonos has done. Not sure. I added Sonos as an authorized sharer of the My Music folder in Windows. That hadn’t worked in the past but did yesterday. Prior to that I had no access to My Library and the work around suggested by Customer Support didn’t work. My next priority is being able to edit the queues.Lets see what happens.
Updated app is horrible. Why change something that works? Disappointed in Sonos for this move. Time to move on of things don’t change
My problem is the reverse from the original question in the Sonos community that I found while trying to research the issue, “I can play to my neighbour's Sonos system via Airplay but I'm not on their wifi - should I be able to do this?”My neighbor deliberately connected his speakers to my Sonos and he is also able to play my own iPad music through his speakers. If try to play my own music on my iPad and if he has his system turned on, my music will blast out loudly through his system. He can turn the volume up or down and can turn off My Music on my iPad. One day a couple of months ago, he took his laptop into the kitchen (directly above my kitchen) while I was listening to music on my Sonos in the living room. He was tapping keys for several minutes. It was then, a few days later, that problems began for me with my own music. I first had cheap Bluetooth sleep headphones and one night all of a sudden, the music that I was listening to on my iPad was turned up very loudly in my ears b
