i just had one of my Sonos One, less than 2 years old, die on me over the weekend. it doesn’t power up at all. it’s not the power cable as the cable works with another unit i have. what should i do? and fortunate / unfortunate timing, as i was looking to buy a few more units - need to relook options.
I am setting up a Connect and came upon the "Source level" setting. It wasn't immediately obvious to me how to interpret this but the most literal interpretation would be that "Source level" refers to the source level, i.e. one would set "Source level" low for a source producing low-amplitude signals (causing Sonos to preamplify the signal more) and set "Source level" high for a source producing high-amplitude signals. A second possible interpretation would be that "Source level" actually refers to the amplification to be applied to the incoming signal. The documentation does not resolve this ambiguity; I had to resort to experimentation. It turns out that the second interpretation is correct. This wasn't too difficult to work out but it was inconvenient. I would request that the name of the control be changed to "Source amplification" and/or that the information be added to the documentation that this setting controls the amount of amplification.
I recently moved into a new home. The previous owner had the home wired for multi room speakers. There are zones that would need to be controlled.1st is the living room with TV. There’s wired labeled there for left, center, and right channels. And one other wire that I assume is for the Sub. See picture below:The question for the first zone is would I be able to connect a Sonos Arc along with a Sonos Amp for the pair of ceiling speakers that would function as the rear speakers. And an existing wired sub to create a surround sound setup? 2nd zone would be for outside speakers. Which I think should be able to be handled by one Sonos Amp. I think this is the wiring for that set: 3rd and 4th zones also seem pretty straight forward also for the Kitchen and Master bath. Here’s the wiring for those areas below: Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
Hi apologies if this is already answered, but I can’t find my specific question. I have a traditional hifi setup: turntable (no built in pre-amp), cd player and cassette player connected to an amp and speakers. Independent from Sonos. I then have a Sonos system with paired Play:3s, sub and play base for music and connected to the tv, plus additional in other rooms. Questions: I’d like to connect the traditional hifi to the Sonos, retaining the ability to use my old speakers, but not at the same time as Sonos (as I suspect this will give delay issues). Is the best way through a Sonos Port, and does this need a pre amp from the turntable, or does it all go into my existing amp then out to the Port. Also, will this play havoc with my TV setup. Finally, I’ve read that using a Sonos amp instead of a Port delivers better sound, albeit at increased cost. The cost increase is not an issue if the sound improvement is significant. But will this setup work for me?Many thanks.
HiI set up a new group, no problem, but I cannot see this group in my device list. When I change a devices room it updates immediately in the device list but I still see no groups. So I'm lost in how to play spotify etc on a group without manually choosing multiple speakers in the sonos app, which also is not using the groups. What is going on? Thanks
Actually, I’m not paying $10k...but can get a really good deal on Sonus Farber (that’s not a typo; it’s Sonus, not Sonos) Olympica II speakers. I’ve never been an audiofile, but am fast becoming one having recently purchased Sonus Farber Lumina III floorstanding speakers a few months ago. They sound awesome at times run thru the Sonos Amp -- but it’s kind of hit and miss. I listened to the Olympica’s at the dealer’s shop with an AMP, and they sounded great there. But is it asking too much of my Sonos Amp to think it can drive the Olympica’s well enough to make the purchase worthwhile? I
Hi, all, I’m thinking of getting a Sonos Arc and connect it to an AV-Receiver (still exploring options like: Pioneer, Yamaha, Denon, Onkyo), but what it boils downto is this:I’m using the smart TV app for watching TV, e.g. Netflix, and the question is: If I connect the TV eArc port to one of the configurable AVR inputs (HDMI 2.1), and eArc output from the AVR to the Sonos Arc: is the sound quality preserved, or does it deteriorate in a sense, that I only get out the 5.1 surround (I don’t know if the HDMI 2.1 input ports on AVRs support eArc - is Dolby Atmos quality preserved?).Maybe the question is a bit silly, just exploring options here...
Here’s a puzzler. 1. I use a connect amp to connect to SONOS. suddenly, when I push the pause/stop button, it does not stop. But here’s a bigger puzzle! tonight I had to turn it off, the pause button didn’t work, so i UNPLUGGED the connect amp. The music kept playing! Not for a few seconds, it just kept on playing!! So...that just isn’t possible, but it did. I swear! Not crazy. It played on. the only way I could stop it was to go find my phone, log on and stop with the app.How is this possible? Anyone?
I am working with a company that have asked for assistance with an issue they have with Sonos. Having looked at it today I do not believe is a Sonos issue at all, but am wondering if there is a remedy. They have an LED/Multimedia processor (Taurus TB-60) and have recently purchased a Sonos Arc for the sound. The reason for purchasing was they believed the TB60 had HDMI-ARC, but it doesn’t. It has HDMI loop, and I think this is where the confusion has been made in specification. It has a TRS Balanced 3.5mm output jack, and no optical connection either. I am not an audiophile, but my understanding is that the 3.5mm stereo audio connector would be analogue. Therefore I would need to convert from Analogue to Digital before presentation to the Sonos ARC. Is that correct?Understanding the Sonos ARC only has HDMI in, would the purchase of these two items allow the processor to output sound and the ARC to be able to play it? Note there is no requirement for Dolby/Atmos etc, or an
I was an early convert and my entire house is full of Sonos speakers, first playbar, play 3, 5, 1. All of a sudden these very expensive products, especially the play 5 ($500 each) no longer worked on the “upgraded system” and I needed to manage two systems in my same house with new speakers on the current app and “older speakers” on the “older app” that I needed to maintain on my iphone controllers. Trade in offering was nice, but 30%? And then I just get a product that might not be compatible in a few years? I really hesitate to continue with Sonos since I don’t want to spend this kind of money on products that wont be supported even for basic things like “playing music on them with the new app”. What happened to Sonos?
We are building an outdoor pavilion with a tv that will be on a motorized mount from the ceiling (centered between the two posts here). I’m planning to use the Sonos by Sonnance outdoor speakers with the Sonos amp for sound. Can the Sonos wall mounted bracket for the amp be mounted on the ceiling? I’m going to need two of them so I’d prefer to mount them next to each other, but there is no wall here (see photo). My other option would be to mount them on each side where the posts are (these will be wrapped so final measurement of the posts will be 10” wide), and just run the HDMI ARC from one of them to the tv. Thank you!
Hi all, Please excuse my ignorance and cheapskate issues! I bought a house with 2 Sonos in ceiling speakers on a covered patio. The speaker cables are ran to an upstairs room. I have an older Denon (AVR 2200) and a Sonos connect. Is it possible to power the in ceilings with the Denon AVR, and then connect those speakers to the other Sonos speakers in the house using the Connect? Thank you!
Hello there.my living room setup is a Sonos Amp with a coax conectet Sub and two small speakers. it has been playing together for years. but now there is no sub action. when i look into the sytem setup there is no longer a choice for setting up or ajusting the sub. my sub seams to be working fine. i have tried to reset the amp and reinstall, no luck.i dont know witch version the Amp is. (withe and silver) the serial number is 1708 5c-aa-fd-xx-xx-xx-xis it a software fail? hope you can help me.thanks. Lars Denmark Moderator note: personal identifying information removed from post.
I have an odd configuration in my office/game room. Opposite my TV is a doorway to an unfinished space. I plan on adding Sonance speakers to use as surrounds, but they will be pretty high up as one needs to go above the door jam itself. As such, I don’t have the vertical height to install the speakers in a vertical position, which is what all the documentation suggests to do. I know speakers will beam form based on a given orientation, so will I be better off placing the in-wall speakers horizontal, or buying the in-ceiling speakers and using them as in-walls instead?
This topic is 2 years ago !And the solution proposed is to switch off every time the CEC control on TV or add a switch??? The ARC costs 1000€ !!! The problem is that if I choose to listen the TV on headphones or TV speakers, the ARC overtakes destination and the sound go only from ARC.The problem is known by SONOS and for over two years! When you can solve the problem???
AirPlay was working fine in my Sonos Amp but recently I plugged my Sonos amp to an Ethernet cable to activate Sonosnet and get more reliable connection with my devices. However, I am now no longer able to stream to the Sonos Amp via AirPlay I tried restarting, turning off the wifi and back on. Also tried other recommendations I saw to turn off cellular and Bluetooth (not sure why that would affect it) but nothing works… any recommendation? Let Play Theory3 sonos amps and a beam Wireless is setup for beam Sonos 1 wired to the network [storm?] 2 sonos amps and a beam Wireless is setup for beam Sonos 1 local setup to surround with Sonos 2 rack in surround Distance too great Sonos 1 and Sonos 2 are wired to network Surround is working [storm?] Does Sonos 1 and Sonos 2 instead need to be wired directly to each other [storm?] 10 sonos amps Wired in daisy by AV company Home owner buys a play one and sets up on wifi [Storm?] Seems like many ways things can go wrong with any wired situation in the real world of plug and play technology. Hoping we can all get a better understanding. Some frustration that the system is so delicate and isn’t more adaptive to its network environment and provides no real debug log
Can I connect 2x sonos era 300 to sonos amp. as the front speakers?
Hello i I am currently renovating / building the below space. And hoping to fit in-ceiling speakers throughout. Any ideas how many I should aim for and position to get a good balanced sound in the main activity spaces.
Good day everyone,Apologies if this is a common topic/issue, but its a bit of an odd one.So I have client at a restaurant that has had me in to do some work primarily with their POS ipads and receipt printers. While there, I setup a new ipad for their upstairs bar and asked me if it was possible to push different music up stairs than down as they sometimes do different events upstairs that require a different mood/soundtrack.I checked the site over and found they physically have 3 Amps onsite, one downstairs and two upstairs. According to what I saw on the Sonos Central app, they are called:DownstairsEvent Space 1Event Space 2They don’t appear to be grouped from what I could. So here is what I’ve done to test things out:-Client uses Spotify to stream music (paid account with 2 seats), in my test I used both the ipad for upstairs and downstairs.-I first opened the Sonos app on the downstairs which was already set to stream to downstairs and got one of their play lists going.-Next I open
We have a Huawei b535 4g router, uses a sim card, and our phones and pc can connect to the internet without problems. We can play our sonos musc on the phone over the play:3 speakers. But we cannot connect to Spotify and we cannot even enter the network menu in the settings. The error is "having trouble connecting to the internet". We have tried having the speaker connected with an ethernet connection and with wifi, no difference. We are using a 2.4 gh wifi with the mode set to b/g/n and a wpa/wpa2 security. Does anyone have any suggestions.
Have a question that so far Sonos support hasn’t been able to help me with. We have six rooms in the house with in-ceiling third party speakers powered by their own Sonos Amp (so six Sonos Amps). In addition we have two rooms with 5.1 surround sound driven by their respective Pioneer Elite VSX-LX105 Receivers (works with Sonos compatible) connected to Sonos Ports. If I want to use any of the Sonos Amps as a source for the rest of the house via grouping I have no problem having that music/sound playing through the two rooms with the Sonos Ports.HOWEVER, I want to be able to use either of the Pioneer Receivers (via the Sonos Ports) as a source to play through the Sonos Amps as well. So for example, if I was watching a game on one of the TVs connected to the Pioneer Receiver/Port and I wanted to also play that same game through the rest of the house via grouping. I haven’t been able to find a lot of specific documentation on the topic, but from what I have been able to find online this
Some of my connects will not play music
We attempted to set up a SONOS port in a business application and with a veteran IT engineer, was not able to use any of 3 wi fi networks or an un-restricted Ethernet connection. Took the device home and spent roughly 2-3 hours on and off to set up the device, have it work for 20 seconds of a song, then pause the song and the connection crashes. Easy to see why the SONOS APP’s get between a 2.7 and 3.1 ration out of 5.0 scale
I recently bought a gen 1 sonos connect amp and after using it for a few weeks with 2 ceiling speakers I decided I needed a subwoofer. So I bought a Samsung wireless subwoofer and took it apart down to the speaker wire ports under the cover I then connected this to an rca adapter and plugged it into the sub output on my amp. I waited for a wile for it to show up and I also rebooted my system but no sub appeared on the app and the sub did not make any sound when playing music. Please help me make my sub work
