Let's talk about Sonos Connect, Connect:AMP, Sonos AMP, and setups using Sonance architectural, or your own speakers and components.

Hi, I have a Connect Amp which I am planning to connect to a couple of in-ceiling speakers and an in-ceiling subwoofer. I purchased a Cambridge Audio C200B in-ceiling subwoofer only to find that the Connect Amp only works directly with active subwoofers. I want to understand whether I should get some kind of connector, or a subwoofer amp, or possibly have a rethink. I definitely want an in-ceiling subwoofer and I have yet to find an active one and so I am not quite sure what my options are. I have limited time because my builders are soon to board up the ceiling this week. I am also a complete dunce when it comes to this kind of thing, so I need it explained in very simple terms please. Thanks!
Hi, I have a Klipsch subwoofer, Sonos Playbar, 4 built-in wall speakers, and the Connect:amp. I'm not getting anything out of the subwoofer. is there a limit to how many speakers i can have connected to the connect:amp? the 4 built-in wall speakers are connected like this: https://www.sonos.com/graphics/rn/FAQ269/connect_amp-4_speakers.png
Can I have 2 Bose 151 4,6&8 Ohm? and 2 YAMAHA 8 Ohm outdoor speakers on a single connect:amp?
Hi, Does anyone know what type of cable(s) are needed and how to connect the Audio-Technica LP120 to a connect:amp? Thanks
I’ve had a pair of Kef Ci130CR speakers running from a Connect Amp for a while now. They pair up brilliantly. I’d just added a pair of Kef Ci130QR speakers to a second Connect Amp, and it’s problematic. Randomly above 50% volume, and always above 80% the amp cuts out. - The CR speakers are 8ohm with a recommended amp of 10-80W - The QR ones are 6ohm with a recommended amp of 10-50W I guess the issue is that the Connect Amp is cutting out as at higher volumes it does not have enough power to push the QR speakers. Is that accurate? Any workarounds or do I need to source a new, higher output, amp (I do have a spare Connect lying around!). Thanks. Cheers, Ferg
Hello all, I've got 4 monitor audio ceiling speakers (6ohms) that id like to use with a connect amp, they will be in two zones in a larger room so sometimes either pair would be used and sometimes all four would be used together. Has anyone had any experience using a speaker switch/impedance matching device such as the one linked below; https://www.parts-express.com/audtek-electronics-ss4-speaker-selector-impedance-matching-1-in-4-out--300-970 If so was there any noticeable affects on the sound quality or volume when using either pair or all four speakers. Thanks in advance Jon
Since I am using the SR2 125 amplifier from Sonance to power the set of eight speakers and sub woofer, should I be using the connect hub that does not amplify the signal further? I just want to make sure that I should not be using the connect amp. Thx
I have a Connect device and I have an existing powered Kef sub. Can I get the sub to work effectively by plugging these together?
I just moved my bridge from one speaker system to another and lost my saved Sonos playlists.. how can I get them back? How can I avoid loosing them in the future? Are the playlists stored in the bridge or the Connect or with Sonos remotely under my ID?
I just replaced my wireless router and now can't connect to my sonos system. Any advice?
Hi, I currently own a Play 5 and a Bridge (both 3 years old) and I absolutely love the ease of use and the sound coming out of those speakers. The Bridge is in my living room next to the router and the Play 5 speaker is in the kitchen. I also use a separate, non-Sonos, system which consists of the following: In the living room: 1) NAD 3020 Receiver from the late 1980s - Has "Aux", "Phono", "Tuner", "Tape" inputs 2) Rega RP 1 turntable connected to the above NAD's Phono input 3) PSB Bookshelf speakers also wired into the above NAD In the bedroom: 1) In-wall speakers with homerun wiring that runs into the living room. They have their own volume control in the bedroom. But these speakers are not hooked up to anything so they are not in use right now. A friend recently gave me his old, in working condition, Zone Player 100 (ZP100). My goal is to build a whole-home audio streaming solution using the components I listed above AND the old ZP100. I'm thinking this is th
Hi there, i own a Sonos Sub and i have the EQ on max and the advanced Sub setting on max. i was wondering if this is bad and could i damage my Sub by playing music at high volume. i listen to songs that are very bass sided such as Rap Hip hop R&B Trap Reggae and so on... is it safe to play songs with the max settings on the sub or not because i do not want to damage my speakers or having them blow at high volume. can they handle the bass without damaging?
I have set up 2 rooms however I can't see them both. If I want to say see the lounge I have to switch off the speaker in the bedroom.
Hi Currently have a Buffalo NAS 2 bay 500GB set as Raid 1. Have win 10 laptop and PC's. One of the drives has given an error message a few times - rebooting has cleared so far. Memory also 85% full (not all music). Hence thinking of upgrading to an at least 2 X 1TB system. Are any manufacturers / drives better than others? Are there any avoid at all costs? thanks in advance
I want to use my old turntable (Project) and amp (Rotel RA02) to play vinyl through my new Sonos system (Boost, Connect and Play 1). How do I best connect the amp to the Connect (ie which output connectors to use)? Also, anyone have experience of using a Brennan B2 as a NAS for the Sonos? I'm struggling to get it to recognise the B2.
I hate wasting energy scared about climate change. My Sonos connect amp uses over 6 amps equalling 52.56 KWhours a year without listening to music. May I have the unit switched off at mains and power up only when listening???
We just moved to a new home. There are four sets of speakers built in with the wires twisted to a single pair into the audio cabinet. Each speaker pair's audio is controlled but a reostat device. I'm sure running all four pair simultaneously would melt a connect:amp but would it work if I turned the volume off for three pair and ran only one at a time? TIA
We just built a new house and had it pre-wired for our music to key rooms and patios for speakers. All the internal locations have had speakers installed in the ceilings. We also want to be able to place wireless speakers in our yard. We have a central electronics closet where all wiring in the house for TV Music, etc go to. Which Sonos base unit should we use to be able to supply music to all our wired locations and yet be able to wirelessly send music to our yard speakers?
Hi, I was wondering if it is possible to add my B&W A7 wireless speaker to my Sonos system. I currently have a pair of Play5's in my kitchen and have my media room Naim/Linn amps/speakers accessed through Connect. The A7 is located on my 2nd floor next to my computer, Airport Extreme and Sonos Boost. Would be great if I could leverage the Sonos controller to play music on the A7.
So when I have my master volume at about half and turn the subs bass level up there is a strong difference. However, when the master volume is turned all the way up, turning up the bass level does basically nothing. Is there a way to make the bass level more at max volume or is it men to to be like this?
Will a connect amp act as a boost if it is wired to my router?
Morning all, derivative of a question asked many times (also by me) but with new scenario this time. Have a Connect Amp (actually a new one in this location) to work alongside a Sonos Sub & two pairs of B&W ceiling speakers. Originally installed 2 x B&W CCM616's but now fitted extra pair of B&W CCM663's & with a view to downgrading the CCM616's to bedroom duty and adding a second set of CCM663's in the kitchen. They sound great but of course the CCM663's overshadow the CCM616's, hence the adjustments. Just to clarify, it means I have 2 616's & 2 663's working right now with the Kitchen Sonos. But the Connect Amp cuts out when worked hard. Installed the new speakers December & unusually they not been used so much as normal....daily yes but not worked hard. A Biffy Clyro, and Gang of Four session yesterday showed the Connect Amp to cut out when driven hard. All other rooms & Sonos boxes worked as normal. I think I'm over working the Sonos box but is opinion not deduction
Hi. I have a Dual CS 505-2 turntable connected to a Sansui 771 receiver that I would like to connect to my Sonos Connect:AMP and two Play:1s. I also want to connect the amp to my regular speakers and subwoofer. Do I need any additional equipment? How do I set it up? Thanks.
Hey community, I am unable to connect my Sonos 3 to my university network by any means. I understand a setup with username + password is not possible (which is horrible imho). So, I got my Sonos Mac-address verified for ethernet connection --> does not work. The only option is directly connecting my Sonos to my Mac via ethernet, which is not a longterm option, as Spotify is not available via this option (although my Mac has a running internet connection). Anyone knows a Workaround to connect my Spotify to my Sonos (even if it includes an ethernet cable... any idea is more than welcome)? Cheers, Hendrik
I'm looking to add a Sonos connect amp with outdoor speakers to my system. When I group rooms and if I accidentally group my outdoor speakers I don't want them to play unless I push on a toggle switch that I am going to play outside. Can someone recommend an outdoor switch that I could use that would be okay in the snow? Or is this even possible? I would prefer not to unplug the connect amp Everytime I'm done using it. Thanks in advance
