Let's talk about Sonos Connect, Connect:AMP, Sonos AMP, and setups using Sonance architectural, or your own speakers and components.

I saw a video on connecting the Connect to a record player, receiver and speakers. The system was connected like this: Record player > preamp > Connect > AV receiver > speakers In that way he was able to broadcast the sound to sonar speakers in other rooms and also broadcast Spotify etc. to the receivers speakers. My question is. Is the sound that goes through the Connect analog or does it get digitalized? I would like to keep the analog vinyl sound from the old system. In the video it sounded like it wasn't a compromise, but I wanted to be sure. Here's the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DE8r6z0-t8Y
I am planning to buy a Sonos:Amp + speakers for my dining room. My local dealer is selling the amp bundled with speakers with app 40% off the amp. That means that I can overspend a little on the speakers if I stick with Dali og B&W speakers. The speakers will be wall-mounted in a room roughly 3,5 x 5 meters. I have narrowed it down to the Dali Zensor 1 (often paired with Sonos:Amp here in Norway) and the B&W 686 s2. Checked out the Zensor 3´s as well, but they seem to deep to be wall-mounted. The B&W´s are front-ported which should be an advantage when wall-mounting them. Both sounded good in the shop but I am leaning towards the B&W. Does anyone have any experience in matching Sonos:Amp with b&w speakers? The 686´s has a much lower sensitivity-rating than the Dalis, is that a problem? Any other thoughts? PS: This is going to be a second system, I have a pair of Xeo 4´s and a connect in the living room.
My wife is opening a fitness studio. I will be setting up the sound system. I will be using 1 Sonos Connect and 2 Bose Cinemate ll units in the studio. 24 sound dampening panels. I have this set up at home, it sounds great. My question is, how can I add a wireless mic that she can talk through the system along with the music. It would be nice to be able to adjust the volume independent from the music. Any help would be appreciated.
Hi All, I have major issues with a pair of play 5 gen 1 speakers. I did a factory reset and did the wireless installation of the pair... so far so good. After the reinstallation the right speaker has a solid green mute button which is impossible to get rid of. When i try to play radio there is no sound. When pressing the mute button only the right player plays music. After that touching any button on either player or even adjusting the volume in the app mutes/pauzes the radio on the right speaker. Left never makes a sound so far... Any suggestions on how to fix this? Router is an ASUS 87-U I have an unused bridge
What is the best way to hook up my outdoor speakers to my existing Sonos network? I have a Sonos Connect in my living room for my home theater and 2 Play1's throughout the house...Is there an AB selector that I can get to install between the Connect & my outdoor speakers / home theater? I was thinking I could use this to separate the signal or have both "zones" play at the same time. Then I would buy a cheapo amp to power the outdoor speakers. Any help would be great!
I'm in the market for a 5.1 surround system. I'm looking into the sonos 5.1 surround playbar with play 3s, but I'm reading about the Dolby digital problems for true surround sound. I would to have my laptop and PS4 to the tv via hdmi and from my tv to sound bar via optical. Only problem is my tv is a Vizio m60-c3 and it only output Dolby digital plus (correct me if I'm wrong). Is there any way to convert dd+ to dd ? Maybe an A/V receiver ? Cnet - m60-c3 outputs Dolby digital plus But I read in the manual for m60-c3 that it has dts and Dolby digital. (Not dd+)
Hi, I have my Connect feed into a DAC. Am looking for views/experience whether using a Toslink interconnect or a Coax interconnect between the two is preferable either way? Thanks!
I have a ZP90 that I bought in 2009. Can anyone verify that this is basically the same as the Sonos Connect unit and that it will work with the Sonos streaming speakers? (assuming the firmware is up-to-date) Thanks.
Has anyone tried it with sonos any issues. Thanks
Hi. I have recently bought a play:5 and love it so much I want to connect it up to the rest of my system. I have a Linn Sondek LP12 turntable that is connected to a Quad 44 pre amp and a Quad 405 power amp, this powers a pair of Polk RTi8's in main lounge and Klipsch AW 525's outside (the play:5 is in an upstairs lounge). Also a lot of my music is on a HDD connected into my router. What I would like to know is could I connect the Connect between the pre and power amps thereby allowing me to stream from the turntable and TV etc through the amps to the Play:5 upstairs (and the Polk and Klipsch speakers downstairs)? Also would this also let me stream the network music through everything? Cheers Wayne
Does Sonos provide longer optical cables? The distance between the wall mounted tv and the Playbar is too short for the optical cable provided.
I have a boost system with a play and 3 connects attached. Just bought a second play 1 and trying to add it. 1) tried setting it up wirelessly through ap. It found the play 1 but nothing happens after holding both play and plus. System doesn't find new speaker. 2) reset, etherneted to spare port on boost. Followed same pocesss. System still doesn't find new speaker. Help!
Just bought the Sonos amp and Bose Freespace 51's for outside in the backyard. The Sound at low volume seems to be very very low, at like 20% you can barely hear it. When I turn it up to say 75% it sounds very good but wondering why or if I can do anything to adjust this? The Bose are 8ohm, I notice the amp output is higher at lower ohms, is there a way to phase the speakers to get more output?
Hi there, I have a pair of Play:1s in my living room, and I'm already very impressed with their sound. Nevertheless I'm still planning to add a SUB soon. I'm interested to know, will the addition of a SUB make the Play:1s adjust their frequency responses (i.e. raise their HPF cutoff frequencies) because the sub means they no longer need to extend so low?
I have ready various posts about compressed/uncompressed usage of the Sonus and I think I have a different problem. The issue that I have is that I have a Connect (not Connect Amp) attached to my Sonus system (through LAN cable into Wi-Fi router) to feed an external music source into Sonus (happens to be Airplay) and the sound is out of sync as the local speakers connected to the Connect fire first and then the rest of the Sonus speakers are delayed a slight bit resulting in an out of sync sound system. I have tried compressed/uncompressed and the issue that I am having is not the normal sync issue that most post about. What I would like is some way to delay the local audio out in the Connect itself so that it can sync up with the inherent delay in the Sonus network. My sense is that the line in on the Connect is immediately feeding into the amplifier on the output audio ports -- much faster path than the rest of the meshed network. I am using Digital Coax output on the connect
Can sonos work without a wifi router
How do you remove the optical cable from the playbase? Once it's in it won't come out. The other one on the playbar was loose and easy to remove, I don't want to force it and damage it.
I'm new to the Sonos community and require some assistance. We are currently in the electrical phase of our new home construction. I have purchased multiple Connect amps for multiple zones, however, I want to run two pairs of speakers (master bathroom and master bedroom) to a single Connect Amp. I've found articles on wiring two pairs of speakers but can't find information on how to switch one set off and leave the other set on. At times I would like to have both pairs on but also have the ability to shut off one set in either the bathroom or bedroom. Truly hoping that someone would be able to assist me. Thanks in advance.
Play 1 power consumption when using it or in standby
I bought a headphone amp and connected it via the Digital coax on the Sonos Connect. The problem is muting the Play5's while the headphone output is sending audio through my headphones. Is this not possible?
Hi just yesterday tried CONNECT-AMP that move to rest my old Pioneer 100W amplifier. There is no compare about power, my ESB speaker are very nice with mi Pioneer but was time to upgrade. So after a quick start with success, i try to plug my LENCO DECK (for my vynil) and with my surprise i see that volume set to max is extremely LOW ! cannot amplify this DECK. ! i set to HIGH level to 10 of sonos app if line in. Dear SONOS engineer i cannot use my deck to connect-amp because volume is too low ! is there a way to solve? thanks
Hey everyone, I've been reading some of the topics here debating whether one should upgrade a single Play5 (gen2) with an additional Play5 to make a stereo pair, or to add a Sub. I'm using my current Play5 in a relatively small room (say, 16'x12', maybe) with a record player. Depending on how certain records were mastered, I am still having to pump the volume up almost to max on some (yes, the record player has built-in pre-amp), as compared to when I stream music and can destroy the whole house with volume. Because of that, I'm wanting to add another speaker, but the way the room is setup, I'd only be able to place the stereo pair about 3 feet apart, and I know Sonos recommends more like 8 feet. With that in mind, is upgrading to a stereo pair worthwhile, or would it make more sense to add a Sub? I'm wanting to get a bit more volume, but rather than just adding like a Play1 to the room, I figure might as well use this as an excuse to upgrade the sound experience as well. Than
Is it possible to connect a Samsung soundbar and sub (HW-K550) for the front speakers to two Sonos Play:1 speakers for rear via a Sonos Connect to have surround sound? If so, how?
Hi all, I have 5 Play:1 and one Connect which are distributed in my flat. The flat is really small, about 60sqm, there is one Play:1 in every room, in the living room there are two of them as stereo pair. Also in the living room I use a connect with two wired standart speakers. As input device to the connect I use a projector, laptop, computer or an echo dot. (I plug the cables in and out) Additionally there is a Boost connected to my router, the Connect is connected to the Boost via ethernet cable. When I stream spotify via the app there are no issues at all but when I stream any audio via the connect there are frequent interruptions of the audio to the wirelessly connected Play:1's, the wired speakers (attached to the connect) are playing just fine. It doesn't matter what the input source actually is. (Laptop, PC, dot, Projector) I bought the Boost because I was hoping to get rid of this issue but it didn't work. Is there any benefit from using the Boost vs usin
Hey guys, I got a Bose solo sounds bar which had an optical port. Would I be able to incorporate that info the sonos system with the aid of a connect with out an amp since it is powered itself? Please dumb down any replies into shapes colors and single syllable words. There is a reason I use Sonos for its simplicity! Thanks Guys!
