Let's talk about Sonos Connect, Connect:AMP, Sonos AMP, and setups using Sonance architectural, or your own speakers and components.

The brand new Sonos Port has inferior connectivity compared to the old Connect. It’s beyond me why you have removed the Toslink / Optical out from an integration product? What I’ve heard, though, is that it’s because this product is normally used by “integrators” - i.e. pro installers - and they can customize coax cables on site.To that I can only say:Pro installers aside, this is just no reason to not supply the Toslink side-by-side the coax as was the case in the Connect product in case a home user is installing the product - or an installer for that matter - finding the Toslink a better choice for some odd reason. A Toslink output path really can’t cost much more than next to nothing and certainly not taking the price of the product into account.I have a pair of very nice active Dynaudio Xeo speakers with only Toslink in (well RCA too, but don’t want to use that). If I want to use the Port, I am left with the choice of either using the analogue RCA - completely forgoing the reason I bo
I bought 2 Sonos Amps recently when we moved to a new house with 2 sets of built-in speakers. Then I bought a Port that is now connected to a CD player and a pair of KEF LS50 wireless speakers. All of that works, but I want to also connect our turntable (with no preamp) and the two Amps are not close, owing to the location of the wires for the built-in speakers. Do I need to buy yet another Amp for the turntable, or could I find a used 2nd Gen Connect:Amp to connect to the turntable? I know it wouldn’t be compatible w/Airplay 2, but as long as the Connect:Amp gets the turntable on the network, wouldn’t that work?
I tried to connect a new sonos amp with a sonos subwoofer. amp is connected to 2 speaker and I would like add subwoofer in Wi-Fi.It connects correctly from app but it doesn’t work.
Sonos claim better sound quality over the Connect. I use the Sonos Connect digital output with an outboard Rega digital to analogue processor. Would the sound quality of the Port be any better via digital output of the Connect? I doubt it! Have Sonos increased the digital resolution - no. So the only reason for me to upgrade is to keep pace with the latest development of the Sonos operating system. However, being able to access to my digital music library collected over many years is worth more to me than the cost to upgrade. So I will probably do so at some point. Regrettably, in my system this appears to be a sideways upgrade. David
Hi have a connect gen2 that is very temperamental. Sometimes it works great and other times it just won’t connect anything. Is there a more reliable alternative to link my turntable and CD player to my Sonos system? Thanks!
My elac speakers doesnt sound good connected to my sonos amp;ifier, the sub sonos also is connected and i thonk the sub is the only one that makes the sound good, elac lacks power!
I am no longer getting sound through my Sonos connect from my turntable. It is connected to Sonos one speakers and was working fine last week. I have looked on the Sonos tips, but no settings have changed since last week so that does not help. My connect still appears as connected in my app. Any suggestions?
Help!I am failing to get sound from my turntable. I have the Pro-ject Essential III (no pre-amp) connected with the turntable RCA wires into the Pro-Ject Phono Box S2 RCA in ports. Then from the Amp Box out ports connected to the Sonos Amp RCA in port.I can get sound to the speakers if I stream music into the Sonos Amp from my phone. But turning on the turntable and playing vinyl, I only hear the slightest sound from the turntable. Not sound through the Amp or speakers.Somewhere between the Turntable and Amp is a problem, but I have tried everything I can think. The turntable has no pre-amp, but I have an external pre-amp connected. There is no switch on the turntable for phone/line out. The Phono Box S2 seems to be working, at least the light is on. Help!!!!Thank you for any insights!
I need to replace one of my Connects that is Gen 1 and therefore not Sonos II compliant. I will be picking up a Port to replace it.My question: if you are using the digital output to go into an outboard DAC, is the digital signal presumably a pure unprocessed bitstream? I had assumed that this would be the case with both units, but have read that if you use the Port even for volume level, you are implementing a layer of signal processing that may/will affect sound quality. I do not know if that was the same situation with the Connect. When I get the Port I will have the choice of using it in one of my high res systems where volume is adjusted by another unit or in a secondary system where I do use the volume adjustment of the Sonos unit.Does use of volume control with the Port affect sound quality?Does use of volume control with the Connect affect sound quality?FWIW, I have found the on board DA conversion on the Connect to be adequate for background music but deficient for serious li
Hi all,Hoping someone with more knowledge than me about speaker ohms can help answer my question.I have 2 of these speakers: https://www.digitalcinema.com.au/jamo-8-52dvca2-in-ceiling-speaker.htmlThey are stereo speakers so each speaker has a L and R channel input.I will be putting one speaker in 2 different small bathrooms and connecting them to a single Sonos Connect Amp.Then to have the ability to switch between the bathrooms if need I will be installing this switch: https://www.selby.com.au/av-distribution/av-switches-splitters/switches/audio/2-way-speaker-switch-200w-a1003.htmlMost of the time I will just have both bathrooms playing together but on the specs sheet it says:Impedance Chart (for 8 Ohm Speakers)Only switch 1 on: 8 Ohm impedanceOnly switch 2 on: 8 Ohm impedanceSwitches 1 & 2 on: 16 Ohm impedanceDoes this mean that I will have a 16 Ohm impedance and will that be ok with the Sonos amp?Is there another way I should be doing this?Cheers!
Hello I have been using the Sonos amp with third party speakers for a few weeks and for the most part love it. I'd like to suggest some enhancements. Are any of these possible?- Bluesound (Sonos' competitor) has a volume leveling option which is great when streaming music from a playlist with different artists and recordings. It would be nice to see this option in Sonos. - EQ and sub settings that can be customized and saved for different audio sources/inputs (mainly home theatre and music) as I often have to adjust levels when switching between content. - A display of audio stream quality when playing music through the Sonos app. Even just to verify it is coming through at CD quality/hi-res. Amazon's music app has this for example. - A FireTV Sonos app. I could then run everything right from my TV and not have to use the phone. I also wondered if it's possible to enable RCA input functionality without internet. The other day my internet went down and I had hoped to listen to some viny
I am thinking about getting the new Sonos Amp and wondered about the subwoofer crossover. Can anyone provide the technical details of the crossover when plugging in a third party sub? It says the crossover is user adjustable from 50-110 Hz. Does that mean when active, it’s both a low pass for the sub out as well as a high pass for the speakers (at the selected frequency)? What slope is the crossover (X dB / octave)? Is it the same slope for low pass and high pass? Finally, for those using the Amp with a third party sub, how do you like it? How is the bass blend between sub and speakers? (please list where you have your crossover set) Thank you!
Lost a room from the App. Unfortunately it’s the room where I listen most. I’ve followed all the online suggestions for unplugging, rebooting etc, and have tried changing wireless channels without success (switched from channel 6 to 1 then 11, now back on 6).Diagnostic ref is 1408381915There is a current problem with Virgin Media services in my area. On demand services have been patchy of late (e.g. iPlayer won’t load) and Virgin now have a system message up stating that on demand services will be down till end Monday (1Feb21) - could these issues be related?
I just upgraded from Connect:Amp to Amp. I notice a big difference in volume at the same setting, which I expected, but also a huge difference in sound quality. Bass is way fuller, mids and treble way clearer. Overall, much “punchier”. I did not expect that. My speakers are Martin Logan Motion 40s.Anyone else’s experience of this upgrade?
I'm a new audio enthusiast and after months of research and looking for an amp to power my Totem Acoustic 2.1 system, I pulled the trigger on the Sonos amp. In all honesty I tried to avoid buying the Sonos amp as I am wary of getting locked into an ecosystem, but in the end it simply offered the best combination of features and price. I wanted to share this feedback with Sonos and the community. Here's what I discovered while looking for an amp/receiver. Generally these products are divided into two categories: the first is hi-fi amps for stereo enthusiasts to power 2.1 systems. Usually these have limited digital inputs and since the focus is on classic audio inputs very few have HDMI (although this is changing). It's also difficult to find home theatre settings such as sub cross over. Then you have AV receivers that give you everything but are MASSIVE. I thought these might have slimmed down since the 90s when my dad's pioneer gobbled up an entire stereo shelf, but no, and whil
My Play 5 no longer 'remembers' the last last content it played after being inactive. It defaults back to line-in.Line-in is connected to a set top box.My other Sonos kit always presents its most recent content to resume playing after being inactive.Any ideas out there that will make 5he play 5 behave?I'm on S2.
We built our house with a media/data/com room. I currently have a Sonos Port hard-wired to my router and connected to my whole home stereo receiver inside the media room. In another room I have two sonos (Play 1) speakers that play music from the Port, also in the same room as the speakers I have a tv that is connected to my home wireless network. What is the easiest way, (or is it possible) to play my TV sound wirelessly through the speakers in the same room? Running a separate cable from the TV to the Sonos-Port is not an option. Thanks! Ronnie
I have an older Sonos system- bridge connected to my router, ZP 90 connected to denon receiver & a ZP120 (Connected by RCA) to cable box. The ZP120 was added so that I can listen to the (inside) TV in my outside (patio) speakers (hardwired). I’ve recently bought a Samsung TV (no RCA), ended up changing my cable box (spectrum d/t issues). I’ve had to factory reset my receiver & Sonos system d/t some connectivity issue (dropping audio). All of this issues have resolved except for one. I cannot get audio from my TV audio to play via ZP120. I can use all other apps like pandora, spotify, etc (audio works fine) except for “line in” audio even though it looks like it is working. I had a local Sonos dealer tech check and the only thing that he came up with was that it may be the cable box (not converting digital/analog signal)- recommended that I try HDMI audio extractor or Digital to analog converter. I spoke with Sonos help and they saw that it looked like it was working but still no
Hi everyone,I am an happy owner of the Sonos Amp that would love to be even happier :-)I love my Sonos Amp for a lot of reasons but to be even more amazing it would be unreal to be able to play uncompressed audio. I know that’s not possible on this device as it needs earc but why not a New Sonos Amp, and why not at least 1 HDMI input, that would be incredibly useful for people that do not have an earc compatible TV.As an improvement of the existing one, the ability to play Dolby atmos tracks (compressed DD+) would be a game changer and a reason for many Sonos owners to buy the Sonance or even another Amp (I would). The ability to add a center channel with some of the existing Sonos lineup or other party would also be out of this world but again that requires new hardware.I hope this gets considered, thank you!
Hi, I would really appreciate some experienced guidance, please bear with me. I have recently inherited an outstanding vinyl collection. I want to integrate a turntable into my Sonos ecosystem and at the same time do full justice to the vinyl.Primary question: Will a higher end turntable & preamp still sound noticeably better than a budget turntable once digitised and compressed by Sonos? Will a higher end turntable offer the same value through Sonos than a traditional wired setup? For detail, I’m looking at buying either the more budget Rega P1 (£250) or the more expensive P3 (£600) turntable. I am also still undecided in which room to place the turntable. Either Room 1 with either a single Sonos five or, Sonos Port and a pair of Ones (the Ones would be in alcoves and we would listen from multiple positions so stereo is difficult to achieve). Or Room 2, through Sonos Port with existing beam/sub/play ones setup. On the other hand, should I consider Room 1 with Sonos Amp and some rea
Im currently using my iMac PC as a source using its headphone out to line in on my sonos amp - and am able to get up to a maximum 96khz if im correct? Can I add a dac such as the iFi Zen DAC to enable me to get higher than 96khz ?Imac/Zen/dac/Sonos amp/B&W passive speakers Ken
So my power just stopped working on my bridge, called tech support, after troubleshooting she told me the until is now broken but could sell me a new unit. I don’t touch or move my sonos unit, how could it “break”?? Need an alternative to the system. If I were interested in buying something that just “breaks” after a while, I’d buy another iPhone. Warranty, not worranty, jeeze
does anyone run this combination using 4 of the in ceiling speakers? If so any issues with it?
This is more like a feature request :)It would be nice to have a device like the Sonos Port but with HDMI input. A Sonos Amp without amplifier or a Port with HDMI input :) Example.Use 2 Sonos speakers (stereo) with tv
Is it possible to add a light indicator somewhere on the Beam to show the current volume level? Many TV’s do not show the current volume even when using ARC. They just show +/- when adjusting volume. It’s super annoying having to look at the app to see what the volume level is. Other soundbars will show a light indicator bar when you press volume +/-, then it fades out after a few seconds.
