The new Sonos app installed on 5/08/24 is absolute garbage.  Garbage defined:

1 - when the app launches it is unable to connect to the home system I've been running for 9 years.

2 - to connect to the existing home system, I'm forced to logout, login 2x to actually connect.

3 - rebooting the Sonos home system doesn't resolve the above.

4 - reinstalling the Sonos app does not change the experience above 

I'm working from a Pixel 8 Pro for any pixel users out there.

Sonos engineering team:  you are slippin.  Get your * together.

I agree. It is awful!!!! I have alarms set up on my Sonos system and It’s currently impossible to disable them on the awful app.  They’re going to loose customers.  Do you know of any alternative vendors that offer similar products?  It’s literally the worst app upgrade that I’ve ever experienced.

Leave feedback on the (Apple) AppStore to ensure that other users don’t download the new version of the app. Make sure that new users stick with the S2 version of the app. 


The new app is awful!!!!! I love my 9+ speakers and 4 zones….  I can’t connect them. I can’t control volume. I can access my old favourites and playlists. 
my kids stopped using it all together. They just put there iPods in. 
when are the fixes coming out? 
can we go back to the last version?

The alarm issue was fixed earlier today…

  1. Update your app to:
    1. iOS: 80.00.08 - available now in the App Store
    2. Android: 80.00.05 - available now in the Play Store
  2. Update your firmware to 79.0-52294 - available now via the Sonos App:
    1. Tap the settings gear in the top right
    2. Select “Manage” next to your system name
    3. Select System Updates
    4. Select Check for Updates
  3. Launch the Sonos app twice in order to guarantee we fetch the latest feature flags:
    1. Start the Sonos app
    2. Force quit the app
    3. Start the Sonos app again

I agree- it’s possessed!! Volume all over the place like a 2 minute delay!! Literally screaming at the system to stop!!! Awful app!!!


How to view and play my Spotify playlists on the new Sonos app? The old version worked fine, can I just use it ?


The new app is frustratingly bad in so many ways, but in terms of your PLAYLISTS, you should find that they are hiding within the section called SONOS FAVORITES.


Thanks, but I can’t find Sonos Favourites anywhere. It is Spotify playlists I am looking for. I used to open the Sonos app, then open Spotify and open Your Library and it would play Spotify playlists on my Sonos speakers. Now it only plays through my iPad or iPhone !?.

 

 

 

 


I have to re launch the app twice to get it to find my speakers. 

Then, it won't find my Spotify albums...something went wrong. 

Any answers this? Why change something that isn't broken Sonos.!!?


My Sonos systems have been frustrating me ever since the new app launched. In particular the app won't work on my pixel 8 pro, but I can use the system on my other android, iOS and Mac OS devices. Even more peculiar with the Pixel 8 is I can control the system via Spotify but not with the Sonos app itself..
