Amazon Alexa & Sonos

About 2 weeks ago our Sonos Move that we have been using with no problem for 2 years suddenly stopped executing Alexa commands. It would repeat the command but do nothing. I updated all the apps on my Apple phone, reset the Move, removed and re-added the Sonos and Alexa voice services. Now instead of not doing anything, it decides what it wants to do. Sometimes it works fine. Other times we have to pause it before it will follow a command. Other times it just does nothing. Any thoughts?

I know how to change the input for my Beam to TV with Alexa, and how to use the Sonos app to group it with other speakers so that input can be played elsewhere. I haven’t figured out how to use Alexa to get that TV input shared with other speakers though. Any pointers?

I have Sonos not play sound when asking Alexa to play music. She says “ok playing on Sonos” but no sound comes out. I first checked to make sure I had the right speakers in the living room set. Next, I reenabled the Sonos skill and the Apple music skills. I double-checked my Apple Music acct is correct for both the Sonos app and Alex app. These are all great things I found on these forms by searching. I am out of options.  alex will work with the play one and play music but when I turn that off and use my dedicated Alex device she no longer plays music. I did upgrade to a new router system but didn’t change any specs in the process.

Hi I recently purchased a Sonos Roam, enabled Alexa and am trying to use it alongside my existing Echo devices. One issue I ran into was that I wasn’t able to use the Global Player skill from within Alexa e.g. Alexa, play Smooth UK - it starts trying to play the station but get a message saying there is a problem listening to the music.I managed to fix it by saying Alexa, ask Global Player to turn off HD Radio. This works but the sound quality isn’t as good as when I play the station directly from within the Sonos app, plus I have to disable HD radio for all my other Echo devices too. The difference is slight but is noticeable especially around bass notes when playing classical music. I bought the Sonos device for it’s superior audio so am a little annoyed I have to dial it down to make it work. Can someone help me understand if this is a bug that might be fixed or intentional, maybe to protect Sonos HD Radio which is a premium subscription?Tim.

I know this has been requested in the past, but I would love to see Sonos add a separate level control for Alexa’s voice that is independent from the main speaker volume. At my normal music listening volume, Alexa is way too loud. Because of this, I have disabled the microphone on most of my Sonos speakers and use Echo devices for smart home control instead.

Hello,it would be great if I could disable/enable surround directly with Alexa.Surround could be annoying when children are watching tv while we have breakfast.… if not maybe a shortcut with iOS?thanks

I currently control my Sonos features through voice commands to Alexa, which then sends triggers to IFTTT, which then controls Sonos.  Looks like Alexa is dropping IFTTT at the end of Oct 2023.  Does anyone have any good suggestions for a good fix for this?

I cant conect with alexa on sonos beam gen 1, how can I resolve this problem?

Hi!I've enabled Alexa in my new Era 100 and Move 2 and I have a feature change request.I've been testing some commands and I've seen that the volume increment/decrement modifies the volume value in 10 points.I think it would be useful that the volume increment would be lower, for example 5 points, in order to have more control in the volume change. Sometimes 10 points is too much depending the song.I hope you could analyze this changes.

Hi Had the Arc (and Alexa) working fine for a few months now. Noticed today that Alexa isn’t functioning properly. Ie, says ok if you ask it to to turn tv off/on, but it doesn’t carry out the task.  I’ve removed and r enabled Alexa from the Sonia app. Also confirmed Arc still listed in Bravia sync list.Is there anything else I should try?  Thanks

Fyi at some point I could no longer ask my Alexa Dot to “Play Some Music” with it then playing on my preferred Sonos speaker. To be clear I am not referring to commanding the built-in Alexa on the Sonos speaker itself. I am commanding the Alexa Dot with my music choice which is then being re-routed to the preferred Sonos speaker (as to avoid listening to music on the small anemic speaker inside the Alexa Dot).First step in troubleshooting this issue: I confirmed all Sonos speakers were working as they should via the Sonos app.In the Sonos app I also confirmed that the particular Sonos speaker I wanted to integrate with my Alexa Dot was indeed logged into the same Alexa/Amazon Voice Assistant Account as the associated Alexa Dot (not sure if this is necessary or not).I then went through the current list of Devices in the Alexa app and deleted/trashed all existing Sonos speakers.I then disabled the Sonos skill in the Alexa app.I then re-enabled the Sonos skill in the Alexa app. This in tu

New here. I have two rooms set up (one has a single Sonos One, other has a Sonos Move and Beam). Whenever I tell Alexa on the One to play a song on Amazon Music, it plays on the One and the Beam simultaneously. I’ve been looking around trying to figure out why and I’m drawing a blank. I don’t have any multi room setups, I’ve enabled and disabled the Alexa skill multiple times and it just keeps doing it. Any advice on this would be great

Hi, previously when I added Sonos devices that have Alexa, they both show up as speakers but also can be selected in a group (room) to be the primary or one of several echos in the room that can then control certain functions (like when saying “Alexa, turn on lights” it can be limited to just turning on lights in that room. However, yesterday added a pair of Era 100 speakers, enabled Alex, and it is added and has Alexa enabled, but when I go to the app to add the Sonos speakers, I can add them as the speakers to a group for control, but neither speaker shows up specifically as an Echo device I can add to the group. Anyone else experience this, and how you remedied?  I tried taking Alex off and re-enabling, hoping this would fix things, but it is not.

I think the community is aware that to use two Sonos systems in two locations (e.g. primary home and vacation home) we are currently required to have separate accounts for each.  This forces an upgrade to a family plan for Prime Music Unlimited or paying for two separate accounts.  Given how long this issue has been out there, it doesn’t seem likely allowing us to use one account on either system is happening soon.  I do understand the single stream restriction is from Amazon based on my individual subscription plan, however I do think Sonos could make it easier on their user community for finding a creative compromise.  For example, since the system needs to be linked to an account, why not make it selectable within the Sonos 2 app.  I can pick which system is “active” with my account and that makes the other system inactive until I select otherwise.  Right now, my option is to delete it from one, set it up at the other and then repeat the process when I go home.  A lot of extra work

Hi Had the Arc set up with Alexa voice control. All fine until yesterday. Alexa stopped responding. Went into settings to cancel, then re enabled and working again.  Just wondered how/why this happened and how often it’s likely to occur. Thanks

Surely in 2003, two company’s with different objectives could at least work together in a modern world and provide an integrated solution….Sonos sound is amazin, my house is full of it - fantastic integration with Apple and Amazon has not improved In years whilst a phone is “a” place to choose music - surely a central control centre in the household is still a great asset to a system - perhaps the likes of an Amazon show? An amazon show cannot even communicate nor stream/airplay music to a Sonos speaker - yet both claim to be “so” compatible with each otherI have seen a few posts about this now and people saying they prefer wires? WTF?The amazon show can even show movies….Is it really to much to as that whilst preparing a meal in the kitchen say, that the Amazon show can be used as the household central control device, the words of the song appear right there on its screen and the music PUMPS out not only it’s little crappy speaker but the FULL Sonos sound system and all its beauty - n

When using Sonos Alexa to stream BBC radio via BBC Sounds, or music from Amazon Music, I experience frequent (every minute or two) frustrating interruptions of a few seconds in the play back which just go on and on until I get fed-up and I stop trying to listen. If I monitor the playback on the Sonos app whenever there is an interruption the message is displayed “Unable to play song ‘song’ - the song is not encoded correctly. ”When I use Alexa on Sonos to access other streaming services (Greatest Hits radio for example) the radio service streams OK without interruptions….and if I connect my iPad to the same wi-fi point as the one used by Sonos and use BBC Sounds/Alexa/Amazon music on my iPad and AirPlay the stream to my Sonos it also works ok (no interruptions). So I only get a problem when using Sonos Alexa to stream the BBC Radio / Amazon Music content…..I’ve seen lots of posts about this error which generally try to blame the network the sonos is connected to….but streaming radio/mus

So. Alexa and Sonos, wouldn’t say it has ever worked like a charm, but at least decently. However, a couple of weeks ago, things became absolutely horrible: Alexa would no longer “stop” any music if I tell her to do soAlexa would often confirm to play a requested Radio Station, only to NOT play anything afterwardsAlexa would often confirm to play a requested song, only to either play nothing at all, or play a completely different songAll my Sonos devices (2x One, 1 Beam) have been re-set and re-installed from scratch couple of times. Alexa was removed and re-added as a voice service. Alexa app was deleted and reinstalled. None of this helped! My father-in-law is experiencing very similar issues lately, so I’m starting to wonder if it’s a more general problem?

I have managed to connect my Sonos One (2nd gen) to my new Three 5g router and I can control it from my phone however the mic on the Sonos is disabled so I can’t use Alexa. Any ideas please as it’s driving me crazy!so far I have:Tried the button on top of speaker tried to enable the mic on the app rebooted router and rebooted Sonos reset Sonos and re-added it tried to use Ethernet cable but the router can’t seem to see anything plugged in via Ethernet  Disabled and reenabled the sonos Amazon Alexa skill  split the 5g router to  2.4ghz and 5g via Three router  in router settings

hi,Just set up my era 100 speaker and I am having difficulty with alexa. I have followed this instruction and it does nothing on the sonos app.I can see the speaker on the alexa app after setting up the skill. Yet the speaker doesn’t listen to alexa commands or appear on the app. I’ve tried customer service and they weren’t very helpful has anyone else had this problem and found a work around? Tempted to return the speaker as it was meant to replace my alexa

Hi again!I was the author of this link and I just wanted to update my progress on this since I have taken steps to try and solve it.I missed an important detail in the old post which is that I have a Google Wifi system, which I have read is infamous for causing problems with Sonos systems. It also means that I cannot change the channel on which the wifi operates as I don’t think Google Wifi has that capability. For the last few hours I have been browsing and seeing many different solutions for Google Wifi systems operating with Sonos and I keep seeing a) hook up a speaker to the main google wifi hub which connects directly to the modem b) disable DHCP on modem c) get a Sonos Boost.I have done option A already. My setup here is a One, Five, Beam + 2 Surround Ones, and a Move. I moved the Five to be connected via ethernet to the main Google hub I mentioned. I also tried alternating between all the SonosNet channels on the app after I moved the Five, and nothing has changed.I have not trie

I have seen a few articles from a couple of months ago quoting Sonos Management where they mention support for 27 new countries coming this “spring”, one of which was my country. However the official page of supported countries is unchanged and there are no countries currently listed as “coming soon”.So has this been abandoned or do I hold my breathe for a little longer?

I have two Sonos One’s , and Arc and a sub in a stereo group. When I talk to Alexa to snoozes or set an alarm why does only the arc pick up voice? Why not the two Sonos ones that are closer to the head of my bed? Can you change that and if so how?

The problem...I would always be told to install or set up the Alexa skill every time I created a routine and tried to play music on Spotify.Arc Left 300, right 300 Dining room - 100 Kitchen - 300 Fire TV Spotify Echo Show These are all grouped in an Alexa Room called "Front of House."My Fire TV was linked to all these devices, so I could talk to any of them to control the TV. Yet I could never get Spotify to work from my Arc via voice. It would work with some others, but I would always get the skill message with Arc.My Fire TV "speakers out" was set to play music out of the group "Front of House," so this way when music played, I thought it would start with the group. My TV is plugged into my TV, and my TV's HDMI is in my Arc.That's the setup...I noticed that if I created the play music command in Alexa as a routine, it would never work if I set the default device to my Arc or my Fire TV. It only worked if I picked a different device.Or I would get the "please configure your skill messa
