I’ve been having troubles with local radio stations in Canada for the last week or so. Reproduction Steps:Speak into any Sonos in my home “Alexa play Boom 973” or “Alexa Play Boom 973 on TuneIn”Response “The station named boom 973 is currently unavailable”. The station itself doesn’t matter, all local stations do the same thing. What does work:The exact same command on any Amazon echo deviceLaunching the same TuneIn station via the Sonos s2 app Troubleshooting:reboot the device reboot the network Remove Alexa services from the device and re-add disable the Sonos skill and re-enableBased on this troubleshooting as well as other posts here, I think there is something fundamentally wrong at the Sonos/Alexa integration level. I am located in Canada.
I have a playbar, sub and 2 sonos 1's as my rears with Alexa built in. Since alexa doesn't allow drop in with Sonos, I am trying to figure out if I can use an echo dot for alexa (turn off alexa feature on the 1's) and still keep the surround sound as well as the easy access of playing having alexa control?Appreciate any ideas??
Hi, I set up my bedroom Play1 tonight with an Echo Dot and followed all the directions. Currently, if I ask Alexa to play something specific, Sonos just kicks on and plays the current queue. If I clear the queue and try again, Alexa tells me that the Bedroom is not responding. I have also set up Amazon Music as the default service in Alexa and added it to my Sonos account. Am I missing something?
Problems encountered so far: 1) Would not recognise my Living Room and play music then randomly did. 2) Says it cannot work in my kitchen even though works fine in Sonos App, and also listed in Alexa App. 3) When I say 'Play (artists) in Living room" it just plays the last song listed on the Songs App. No way at all to select artists via voice command. 4) When asking it to stop etc, have to shout at it. I know its beta but this is unusable and not like a usual Sonos Beta- very poor quality needs pulling and sorting out first. Fault may be with Alexa which I have generally found next to useless, for example very poor at controlling my Nest Thermostat etc. Fortunately the Sonos app itself still works fine and never lets me down. Could it be because we are operating on a Sonos bridge?
I've had Sonos for over a decade. Started with a Play:5. Decent enough. Definitely not audiophile and doesn't compare to my B&W CDM 9NT speakers, nor do I expect it to, but I did hook a Sonos Connect up to that system for the better audio quality of those speakers. I also eventually got some Play:1's, a Playbase, a Sub, and a Sonos One.Sonos eventually rendered my old system incompatible with itself. The older Play:5 and Connect are not compatible with the other newer speakers. If I try to play through all of them on the legacy app, the sound keeps dropping out. Their solution is to buy more of their stuff and junk my old perfectly working $500 Play:5 and both of my $350 Connects. Yes. That is over $1,000 in equipment they want me to junk.Well, with the Echo, you can take the 1/8" jack and output audio to any type of amp and speaker. If the tech in the Echo becomes outdated, just get a new cheap Echo instead of throwing out $1,200 in equipment. In fact, I had an old, but good quali
First let me say I have been a sonos user and supporter since my first system in 2006. I originally started with on amped box and then got another. I used these over 10 years without fail. I have allot of home automation in my house and waited patiently for sonos to get alexa support. I went out and immediately purchased the sonos one on release day and couldn't wait to use my existing alexa's. Then disappointment settled in quickly. Not only was the alexa integration not what I expected the ONE was beyond disappointing. We replaced the alexa in our bedroom with the one. After trying and multiple removed/re-add the entire ONE to get it working time and time again, the wife said it's got to go. So with great disappointment I went to the store to return my one. I grabbed a play 1 for $50 less and figured we will just go back to using our phone. Then I heard about the google home integration with a google cast in the input of my amps. So yesterday I purchased two google mini's and to
I purchased my Sonos Beam today, came home to set it up I have spent the past few hours trying to get Alexa to play nice with the Sonos Beam. When I look at my devices on the Amazon Alexa app and website under settings > devices, it will show the Beam is connected however, on the regular devices tab it shows nothing and will not discover the Beam. I have logged out, uninstalled, unplugged, reinstalled, enabled and disabled skills, changed names, stood on my head, did a little dance and I am still not able to get this darn thing to connect to Alexa. The beam is connected to my TV with the optic cable attachment as I don't have an ARC port. I understand that I won't be able to control the TV with Alexa. I would like to at least tell her to play music and work properly..... all ideas, comments and suggestions are welcome. Thanks!
Just setup my Sonos 1, in its own room separate from my Play 5 and sub. Plays music fine. No Problem. Sonos skill in Alexa already setup, Alexa sees Sonos One. I can control S One through Echo Dot. As well as my other speakers. When I attempt to setup Voice Services on Sonos One all I get is a loop. I touch Voice Services in the Sonos app on my iPad, the "Control Sonos with your voice" box pops up, hit the "Learn More" bar, goes to "Help and Tips" page, "Control Sonos with Amazon Alexa", touch link "Go to "Set up voice control on your Sonos One" to learn more.", tap that link, goes to a page in "Help and Tips", tells me to set up sonos 1 and to go to More (arrow) Voice Services and follow the prompts. Tap the Set it up now bar and....it just starts the same process over again. I guess I'll try and uninstall/reinstall the Alexa skill, see what happens.
Apologises if this topic has been covered elsewhere, but have looked and nothing similar has come up. I have an Amazon Echo Plus (plus bit is irrelevant I think), and a Sonos One. I can play music on the Echo or the One, but not both at the same time. I have a group for both the Echo and the One, however Alexa on the Echo, does not recognise this group. Can anyone assist me in getting my One and Echo to play the same music at the same time?
Alexa services were working just fine yesterday. Now today I get a "uh oh". Unplug Sonos and then get no response. Very frustrated with this device and, I'm thinking to find my closest Sonos store and just donate it (I live overseas) Seriously, for a $200 speaker that doesn't work at all unless you use the app, then why integrate the amazon puck on top. Frustrated...
I have the Play One with Alexa which works amazing. I also have an Echo Dot in another room that works beautifully with my Sonos system. The only slightly annoying thing is that I have to tell my Echo Dot "Play Rock in the Living room". If I don't specifically say "in the living room" the dot plays the music (which is technically correct). Does anyone know if there is a way to change the default player/speaker so that I no longer have to specifically say the location of the speakers I want to use? In other words I would just say "Play Rock" and my Sonos speakers would kick on. I can't seem to find anything specific to this question while searching the Alexa forums.
I have an Echo Dot connected to a Connect via analog in...and the Connect connected from analog out to my speakers via a Sonance amplifier. I'm finding that, since starting the Sonos skill, when I talk to Alexa, her volume out of my Sonos/speaker setup is at such a low volume that it is barely audible. This lasts for about 10-15 seconds, and then volume goes up to normal. I have the volume control on the Dot set a maximum and the Sonos volume set at a normal listening level. Before setting up the Sonos skill, the volume was always fine...right where I set it. Interestingly, if I immediately invoke "Alexa" after she starts speaking (like if I ask for the weather), when I can barely hear her, and tell her to turn up the volume, her output immediately goes to the normal audible volume. Also, once the Sonos music starts, volume is normal, based on my volume setting in the Sonos app. However, if I again invoke "Alexa", her volume is low again.
What is Sonos doing, its got a great product. why put it in danger with a second rate voice product. Amazon only will let you use, what it makes money from. So no NAS drive / Cloud / Pc /Phone music files. please bring out your own simply voice to Sonos, and you make so money and keep your good name.
Trying to integrate my 4 sonos speakers with my alexa app and its just not working. I search for devices as instructed and my nest heating is appearing as are my hue bulbs but no sign of sonos. I have updated both the sonos and alexa apps. Anyone any thoughts?
