Alexa no longer working with Sonos
After working fine for ages commands to Alexa for a Sonos Play:1 now just come back with “Sorry I’m having trouble, please try in a little while”Ive tried all normal fixes, remove/re-discover the Sonos device, disable/re-enable the Sonos skill, restarted the Sonos and even factory reset the Echo Show.
Reluctantly, I disabled the Alexa skill for Sonos today. The whole house ducking was causing too many complaints form everyone in the house. Ducking a Sonos speaker in a room so far away from the person using Alexa just doesn't make sense. I really would like to use voice commands with Sonos; but I guess I will have to wait even longer for Sonos to correct this problem. I have three Echo dots connected to Sonos either through line-in jacks or Connects. This was originally done to work around the Audible issue. The bonus of doing this was that all output from the Dots sounded great going through the Sonos speakers. Even, simple things like: "Alexa, what is the weather?" sound very good. Well, they don't with ducking, because you can't hear them at all now. Perhaps the long-term fix is to assign Alexa devices to specific Sonos products. A short-term fix would be to add the option of turning ducking off. I would be willing to accept that Alexa might not be able to hear me with this
Sonos Play:1 and Google Assistant
I have Google Home and a Sonos Play:1 speaker. Sonos says that in 2018 the Sonos speakers will be compatible with Google Assistant but will that be a software change that will allow me to use my current speaker with Google Assistant or will I have to purchase a new Sonos speaker in order to be able to use the Assistant with Sonos? Does anybody know this yet?
Ducking not entirely working yet?
So as I understand the new ducking possibilies which rolled out some months ago, all speakers within an Alexa group should duck. I have the following speakers: 1x Play One SL stereo pair 1x Play:5 stereo pair 1x Play One 1x Echo Dot 2nd Gen All three Sonos are in a group, and also selected as “Preferred Speaker” The Sonos One and the Echo Dot are selected as Alexa enabled devices. When I talk to the Dot all speakers duck, when I talk to the Sonos One only the Sonos One ducks? That does not seem right. Due to another bug i have undergone a full factory reset of all speakers, so it probably is an issue everyone is having? Can anyone confirm?
So..it's been almost a year since the announcement. Alexa integration guys?
I'm totally cool with you taking time to get it right. But it was August of last year you announced Alexa integration. I've had an Echo for a while and honestly it is easier to tell it to play something, even if the sound is inferior to my play:5.
Alexa and music services
Ok — the news is still fresh and I havent even had time to try any of this. But reading the news blogs it appears the sonos/alexa integration currently works with Tunein and Amazon Prime / Unlimited only. So no Spotify (yet), Deezer, Todal and no localally stored music. Ok, this is all well and good. But the obvious question then is if Amazon music offers no high quality service (320bps i believe) what benefit is there in there in having Sonos equipment over Echo equipment?? I guess we bought into Sonos due to its superior audio, and for my part my local music is lossless and my streaming service is Deezer hifi. It seems. If I want to use voice control I’m now limited to MP3 quality. Can anyone confirm this ? Regards Andrew
Alexa keeps on saying Sonos One is offline
Just went through all the settings on Sonos app as well as Alexa app named my new Sonos One OFFICE in the Sonos app and group it with all my 7 other Sonos. I can play music on all Sonos through the Sonos app, I can use Alexa to play music on any speaker, EXCEPT the new Sonos One. Alexa keeps on telling that OFFICE SONOS is OFFLINE...
Sonos not playing Alexa music
I've had the Sonos One for a couple of weeks and it was working fine up until yesterday. The music plays fine through sonos app but is not playing correctly through the speaker upon command. For example, if I ask Alexa "to play Lithium on SiriusXM" she responds "Lithium from SiriusXM playing on Office" but then nothing happens. Any suggestions?
Alexa mutes speakers
So, I'm upstairs in the shower listening to my morning podcast and it mutes itself every 10 seconds. Come to find out my wife was in the kitchen using Alexa to make a shopping list. How do I turn off this muting "feature" for Alexa? Or can I assign the dot to a single room so the whole house doesn't mute everytime someone wants a knock knock joke or the weather.
Step by Step Guide to Play BBC Radio Station via Voice ControlTips & Tricks
There have been a lot of threads and questions asking how to initiate the playing of BBC Radio Stations after the BBC removed voice control of their stations from within TuneIn. So I thought I would bring all of the recommended steps together in one thread. Open the Sonos App and click on the Search icon and then select ‘Stations’ below the Search Text box; Type into the Search Text box, the name of the BBC radio station that you want to listen to and against the station in the list below click on the three vertical buttons and then select ‘Add to My Radio Stations’. Then click ‘Done’ (For the purposes of this example, I will use Radio 2); Open www.IFTTT.com and either create an account or log-in to your existing account; If using a Web Browser, click on your profile picture in the top right hand corner of the screen, to the left of the Explore button, and select ‘Create’; Click on the ‘+’ symbol and enter ‘Alexa’ in the Search Text Box, then select the Amazon Alexa icon; Select ‘Say a
Keeps hearing things that aren’t Alexa?
Does anyone else have the issue of the sonos one keep beeping and hearing things that aren’t Alexa. I was watching tv last night and 6 times in one hour she muted the tv volume and beeped as if she heard her name. I wouldn’t mind but when I call her name she doesn’t hear it...it seems the programming side of things needs some work!! It would surly make sense that the sound coming through the speaker shouldn’t trigger her as she knows she is the source? It also happens when you ask Alexa something and in her response she says Alexa...it then triggers the sonos one again...I had the dot and echo and neither of these devices worked like this and hardly any false triggers but it is getting silly with the sonos one now. Is it just me?
Sonos One: Voice control for Sonos is not supported in your country, yet
Hi there Sonos community, This is probably a very early question to ask but I have been waiting to buy Sonos just for the Alexa integration. And now they are releasing the Sonos One YAY :D. BUT... when preordering it says "Voice control for Sonos is not supported in your country, yet". Alexa is actually not supported in Sweden but I have imported it and it works but somewhat limited in regards to location services etc. That doesn't really bother me since I use it to control my Philips Hue, entertainment setup and of course timers when cooking food. I recently purchased the Logitech Harmony Hub Elite which Alexa doesn't fully support in Sweden (location restricted skill). I have managed to get around it using Yonomi but missing out on play/pause/volume up/volume down functions. I know Yonomi works with Sonos but will Alexa actually work in the Sonos One in Sweden. [b]TL;DR Will I be able to take my echo dot and replace it with the Sonos One or will it sense my location (Sweden)
How to get Alexa to tell Sonos to access my Local Music
All my music is stored on my computer, I don't use streaming services. The Sonos app is able to access my music and playlists, but using Alexa, all I can find are commands to access streaming services. How do I use Alexa to tell Sonos to access the music on my computer?
Sonos won't play when i ask alexa to play?
I have music playing on my sonos via the sonos app. But sometimes when i ask alexa to play it will say hmm. you''ll have to enable the skill, but yet if i then go into the actual sonos app and press play it works. why does alexa not always play and pause when i ask it, even if music is showing as paused on the app?
Sonos One 2nd Gen not sensitive enough microphone
I purchased a new Sonos One 2nd gen last month, and I immediately noticed that the microphone was nowhere as sensitive as the gen 1 version. For Alexa to respond, I have to be quite near the Sonos One, and I've had to raise the volume of my voice to be heard. I relocated from Europe earlier this year and was waiting for all my Sonos gear to arrive with my furnitures. Those have now arrived and I set it all up over the past few days. So I have Sonos One devices in all bedrooms, all but one are 1st gen, the 2nd gen being in my bedroom. When I say "Alexa, turn on the light", it's typically Alexa in another room that will respond. "Alexa set a timer for 5 minutes" and you can hear it being setup in another bedroom. Now I don't know if it's an issue with this particular gen2 that is faulty, or that somehow the gen2 has a less sensitive microphone. But it's pretty much unusable as an Alexa device. If I say "Alexa!" with a rather low voice, I can hear the "ding" noise on all the o
Alexa asking to link Spotify Premium Account even though already linked when using Sonos
Having an issue where whenever I try to play something on Spotify on Sonos using Alexa, it's just coming up with 'To link your Spotify, please add a premium account in the Alexa app' even though I have already done this. When I try to play Spotify using just the Echo dot it's playing fine - just doing this when I want it to play on the Sonos! Anyone have any ideas? Thank you :)
