I have the BBC skill set up in Alexa and if I ask Alexa to 'play BBC Radio 2' it plays from my Echo Spot rather than the SONOS speakers that I set up as my preferred speakers in Alexa groups. If I disable the BBC app, then Alexa gives me a message saying something abut the previously enabled app is disabled do I want to enable it. To make it work I have to say 'Alexa play BBC Radio 2 in the Sitting Room'. If I say 'Alexa play Virgin Radio' (or any other radio station/music request) it plays through the SONOS speakers. I know this might be more of an Alexa question than a SONOS question but I'm asking just in case any of you SONOS experts have come across this and know a fix! Edit: I did do a search and found nothing, but now I've posted I see that this question has come up before although the answer is to do what I'm doing ie add 'in the sitting room' or 'from TuneIn' to the command, which isn't a really great solution.
Hi everyone I’ve just bought 4 x Sonos One’s and 1 x Beam. I’ve committed to the Sonos ecosystem fairly quickly. My appliances all use Alexa, but I am a staunch Apple and Apple Music fan. I’m trying to set up the Apple Music skill and it won’t link. It seeks to think I’m in another country. I go to the Alexa app > Music > Add Service > Apple Music is NOT displayed (Spotify and something called Deezer are) I add the Apple Music skill from “Skills and Tricks”, I sign in and I’m told it’s not available in my country or region. I’ve spent thousands on products that can’t be returned (store policy in Myer Australia). PLEASE HELP 😭😭😭
When trying to add Alexa Voice Service through the Sonos app, I'm being directed to amazon.com and not amazon.co.uk to sign in. I don't have a .com account and need to be able to log in with .co.uk. I've followed the steps and guidance in both of these threads: https://en.community.sonos.com/amazon-alexa-and-sonos-229102/sonos-authorizing-to-amazon-com-instead-of-amazon-co-uk-6807771 https://en.community.sonos.com/amazon-alexa-and-sonos-229102/sonos-defaulting-to-amazon-com-instead-of-amazon-co-uk-when-adding-service-6806074 to no avail. Is there any other support or ideas which could help? Thanks
Weird scenario on my Beam - I have a 'night' routine set up on Alexa. When I request it on my Beam the response is that the device does not support that function, and then it duly executes the routine (turning off all lights in the house) - strange. I get the feeling this is a bug. Am I correct or is there something else going on that I should know about?
The ability to use your Alexa enabled devices' as intercoms (drop-in) does not work on the Alexa enabled Sonos One. Or I can't figure out how to activate. Drop-in needs to be enables on your Amazon devices (echos, dots, etc.) in order to work but there doesn't seem to be a way to do that on the One. Am I missing something?
So, Alexa smart groups seem to be working. I have some smart lights and an Echo in the lounge along with a Sonos connect. In the kitchen I have more lights, another Echo and a Sonos Play:3 speaker. I can now create Alexa enabled smart groups, which means that when I'm in a room with an Alexa device, and I've defined the other devices in that room, I can now say "Alexa, turn lights on" and only the lights in that room come on, and I don't have to say the room name, or the light's names at all. This is a deliberate (and very good) move by Amazon to simplify the language you have to use with Alexa. My request would be, please, please, please, can Sonos make their Alexa skill work with this? This to me would seem to be the most logical way of fixing multi-room audio ducking as there should be a way for Alexa to work out that it only needs to duck Sonos speakers in the same room, which it can now work out. It would also be great if a Sonos device (or room group in Sonos)
Please find here under the description of the issue I have with the incorrect behavior of the app Mymedia for Alexa used in an Amazon Echo 8 configured with a default Sonos system:Description here under is based on an Echo 8 with my Sonos Port but is also valid with any of my Sonos equipments ( I have a PLAYBAR + bass + 2 Sonos 1, a Sonos 5, and a Sonos 3)First of all a quick sum up of my configuration:I use the last version of mymedia inside a docker of my Synology NASThe version is currently 126.96.36.199All my music is also in the NAS and except a very few exceptions uses the m4a formatI have a Amazon echo 8 configured to use a SONOS PORT as the default speaker system. I also have a Amazon Firestick 4 K configured to use the HDMI in pasthrough toward the TV set linked to a SONOS PLAYBAR via optical. Both systems Echo/Port and Firestick/TV/PLAYBAR don’t work “Don’t work” means that when I ask to play an album, I have the first track only of the album, the picture of the album only a few s
Hi, I was able to set up my connection with Alexa and Sonos, and I can use Alexa to start playing music without any issues. However, once the music starts, I have two issues: 1. I cannot stop the music. 2. the music stops playing after a single song. For example, if I say "Alexa, play the Beatles in the living room", music will start up on the Sonos system. However, if I ask her to stop the music ("Alexa, stop the music in the living room," "Alexa, pause the music in the living room"), she dims the sound of the Sonos speakers, responds with "I can change the playback mode only when music is playing" and then raises the volume of the living room again. When first requested to play music, Alexa responds with something like, "Shuffling popular songs by the Beatles in the Living Room." However, she stops playing after a single song, every time, no matter what the playlist. If I play the same playlist through the sonos app, it keeps playing. I'm not sure what the issue is, si
I came back from holiday to find that once again Alexa breaks my Sonos groups (third or fourth time). I have 5 Sonos speakers grouped through Sonos (group created from ‘Living Room’ paired speakers). I also have the same speakers selected as preferred speakers under the Alexa group ‘Living Room’. However if I tell Alexa to ‘play music in the living room’ it only plays through one speaker (bizarrely one named ‘Dining room’ although it is part of the group) and if I go into the Sonos app the group is broken. If I just tell Alexa to ‘play music’ then it only plays through the Alexa device (so the preferred speaker setting is meaningless?) So far I have checked for an update (there are none), renamed the living room speakers in case there is a conflict, disabled and reenabled the Sonos skill, rerun device discovery (after every change), set the living room speaker as the only preferred speaker (which then works through Alexa) but any Sonos group created is still broken by Alexa. Basically
I’ve got the Sonos One all set up but it won’t play radio stations via TuneIn. Alexa acknowledges the request stating “Playing TuneIn xxxxx radio” but then doesn’t play anything. I’ve disabled and re-enabled the Sonos skill in the Alexa App but still doesn’t work. Any suggestions?
I am one of the many I am sure, to have purchased an Amazon Alexa after Sonos recent update. I also signed up to Apple Music once integrated with Sonos awhile back, but I am unable to link Apple Music and Amazon Alexa directly which in my view severly limits the point of Amazon Alexa and Sonos working together. I cannot say “Alexa play Parklife by Blur in the lounge” because Alexa does not recognise the Apple Music Library? Is there a work around, or is this on the Sonos/Alexa roadmap? If not, the welcomed integration between Amazon Alexa and Sonos may be not so welcome after all....
I've created the Speaker Groups Alexa skill (https://skills-store.amazon.com/deeplink/dp/B07HGQGT6P?deviceType=app&share&refSuffix=ss_copy) that allows you to group your Sonos speakers together through Alexa! Let me know if you run into any issues with it. Some example interactions Change Groups "Alexa, ask speaker groups to play the living room in the master" "Alexa, ask speaker groups to stop the master bedroom" Create Scenes of Speakers "Alexa, ask speaker groups to create a master group" "Alexa, ask speaker groups to add the Master Bedroom to the master group" "Alexa, ask speaker groups to add the Master Bathroom to the master group" "Alexa, ask speaker groups to group the master speakers" or "Alexa, ask speaker groups to play in the master"
I have many Amazon Echo devices (made by Amazon and by others) and I can change the wake word on all of them (I prefer Echo and really dislike Alexa in part because we have a young child with that name). When I ask any other device to change the wake word, they do it. When I ask Sonos, it says “you are unable to do that on this device.” SO FRUSTRATING.I will probably install a Fire TV stick and avoid using Sonos for voice commands.
Hi, what's the reason why Alexa isn't working in Belgium? I'm ok with using Alexa in English until there's support for Dutch. I would say the limitation is the language setting, not the country/location. Just enable Alexa for English in Belgium and I'll settle with that until Dutch is supported. I can read there's a workaround by actually registering the products in UK/US ... so this is kind of pushing people to register products in the wrong way to have features enabled. Can't follow the logic in this.
I have a couple Sonos One's showing up tonight. I'm hoping to put one in each of my kids' rooms (ages 7 & 10), and they'll be able to voice command their way through Spotify content, from a single Spotify account. Explore music! (I was thinking of printing them out sheets of recommendations... albums to explore with explicit voice commands to play them.) I know this should work via Sonos App (I can ask multiple Sonos speakers to play different albums via single Spotify account). But the kids don't have "devices" (like phone or tablet)... so... will it--different Spotify content playing on two Sonos One's--work via the voice commands invoking a single Spotify account (which come, I expect, via Amazon/Alexa). Has anyone tried this by chance? If I get no response, I'll try to return to this thread with my experiences. Thank you!!
Working Box of Cats Bird Song Most skills that don’t open a continuous audio stream Not Working Radio Paradise - commands working, including setting stream quality to FLAC, but won’t play anything (yes, I know it works via TuneIn, but stream quality is unknown and can’t be selected via voice control. FLAC works on Echo, but not Dot) Simple Radio - won’t play anything Seems like Sonos One is unable to open a stream that’s not on TuneIn, Amazon Music, or any of the other built-in services. Hope that changes soon... Please list skills that you believe really ought to be working on One, but aren’t.
Seems like the last album I asked Alexa to play will occasionally start playing through the speakers it was last playing or grouped to. Last night at about 3am after falling asleep downstairs, the living room Sonos starts blaring Tom Petty in concert. Kind of groggy I search my memory for how to turn it off thru Alexa, only to find out it was also blaring outside on the patio. Again, I told Alexa to turn off the patio speakers. This morning my wife told me as I got out of the shower, "why is Tom Petty playing outside on the patio". Apparently It started up again. Another problem I've been having is the music volume of selections I have asked Alexa to play through Sonos speakers turns way down, then back to it's normal volume, several times while playing. Not all the time, just occasionally. I realize we are on version 1.0 and I'm delighted with the work that's being done. Just reporting some bugs.
Am I the only one (I'm in the UK) who's having big problems with Alexa today? It was fine yesterday but today it won't play anything, works fine through sonos app. I try spotify it says not supported, I try amazon and it says I don't know what went wrong, tune in doesn't respond. Other commands like good morning or what time is it work but Alexa is slow to respond. Is Alexa overloaded for Christmas?
After the farce of getting this setup and the complete lack of help or knowledge from anyone in Sonos, I'm stuck with this crappy kit now. I live in Mexico. I purchased the Sonos here in Mexico. When I purchased it my Amazon account was UK based. Sonos worked fine with this. I changed my country to Mexico in my Sonos Profile and it stopped working altogether. After spending ages trying to sort it out, with no help whatsoever, from Sonos, I discovered that the country is used to determine what services are available. At this time, Amazon did not have their music service in Mexico. I switched the Sonos profile back to the UK and it worked again. My Amazon Unlimited Music subscription expired at the end of November. By this time Amazon had launched the service in Mexico, so since I live here, I purchased it here (approx. £50 annually compared to £150 in the UK). To do this, I had to change my Amazon account to be an Amazon.com.mx account. This worked fine with all my Alexa devices.
I set up the Sonos One two weeks ago and it connected fine to our existing Sonos system. Alexa voice was also working well. The Sonos One was unplugged for several days, and when I started it back up, Alexa did not respond, It appears that the voice services in the Sonos and Alexa apps on my Android phone are active. The system plays music just fine via the Sonos app. Any ideas on what might be wrong? Thank you in advance... SDK
