My two Sonos Ones have previously been playing BBC radio stations via TuneIn without any problems: 'Alexa, play BBC Radio 4' would return 'Playing BBC Radio 4 from TuneIn' and the appropriate audio stream. Something strange has started happening today. Alexa is now trying to use a BBC skill and, depending on exactly how I ask, may or may not play audio. If I say 'Alexa, play BBC Radio 4', it returns 'Here's Radio 4 FM (tone) the BBC' and no audio stream. If I say 'Alexa, play BBC Radio 4 from the BBC', it again returns 'Here's Radio 4 FM (tone) the BBC' but now with the correct audio stream. Weird, I know: I have tested it again and again. When I look at my Alexa settings, it has added a new BBC skill. If I remove the skill, it just adds it back whenever I request a BBC radio channel. I don't mind using TuneIn or the BBC, but I don't want to have to specify the source every time. I don't know whether this relates to yesterday's 8.6 upgrade or perhaps Amazon have made a c
We've got 4 x Sonos Play:1s dotted throughout the house - usually all grouped together. We bought a couple of the Echo Dots under the recent offer, and have subsequently signed up for a trial Spotify account (having previously been using Deezer as our main streaming service). However, we can't get Spotify to play via Sonos at all (had a little success when we first bought the dots a couple of weeks ago but nothing regular and nothing at all now). So how can I do it? I've made sure that Spotify is the default music app, I've deregistered and reregistered the Sonos skill in the Alexa app to no avail. If I ask Alexa to play something without specifying the room she'll play it on the Echo with no issues (and tells me that she's playing from Spotify). But if I ask her to play something in a certain room (i.e. on a Sonos speaker) she just says 'Sorry - something went wrong'. Please tell me what I'm doing wrong! It's driving me crazy and we need to make a decision whether we carry

I call them "Soundscape Skills" - like "Relaxing Nature Sounds", "Ambient Sounds: Cricket Sounds", "Rain Sounds", etc. There's hundreds of them. On my Sonos One, perhaps only one in ten works properly. If a Soundscape Skill doesn't work properly, the symptom is that I hear nothing at all. Evidence seems to point to the fact that Alexa thinks that the Soundscape is playing, but nothing whatsoever is audible at any volume level. I tried dozens upon dozens of these late last night, and only found a handful which worked properly. Alexa otherwise seems to be performing perfectly well. I am working with Sonos tech support on this, but since the diagnostic reports look absolutely fine, it's difficult for support to troubleshoot this problem. My question is, am I the only one with this symptomatology?
Using an Echo Dot to control 3 existing Sonos speakers. Have speakers set up as Kitchen / Dining Room and Bedroom Can start and stop music fine 'play blah blah in (or on) Kitchen'. Volume commands, for example 'turn it down in the kitchen' and Alexa responds with 'that command does not work on device kitchen.' I've disabled and re-enabled the Skill to no avail. Am I doing something silly or is it a bug; should I try deleting all the devices and resetting?
Finally Alexa and Apple Music integration has come to Sonos in Australia. This would be great if it actually worked. I have added the Sonos skill and the Apple Music skill to Alexa. I have added Apple Music as the default music service. I have added Alexa to both my Sonos One and my Beam. When I ask Alexa to play a particular artist, it will default to playing via Amazon Music (despite Apple Music being set as my default). When I specifically request that the artist play from Apple Music, Alexa responds that it “could not find that on Apple Music”, despite the songs being available to play via the Sonos app manually. The only command that works is if I ask Alexa to “play music” and it will play a personalised radio station from Apple Music. However, requesting any particular artist, album, playlist, etc. always either starts playing from Amazon Music or not found if specifically requested to play from Apple Music. "Alexa, play classical music on dining room" Alexa starts classical focus from amazon on dining room sonos. After one selection, sonos goes quiet. Sonos app shows nothing playing. I can ask alexa to play classical music again, and again it plays just one selection and stops.
I have checked with Sonos, and they have confirmed that you cannot ask Alexa to play tracks from your own library. Further, they have no plans to support this. As much as I love my existing Sonus setup, and as much as I want to try Alexa out, I do NOT want to sign up to a music service when I have a large quantity of my favourite music already in my home Sonus library. I have no idea of the technical challenges involved with this. Given your voice command is uploaded and parsed somewhere else, it may be too difficult to send back the results to the sonos controller to access the local library. None the less, I wanted to start a conversation to see if I am alone, or if this is something a lot of people want. Regards, Ian
Hi all. I have a set of stereo paired Sonos Ones. I have manually disabled the microphone on the right speaker by pressing the button on top. Today I disabled Alexa by going to [Settings - Room Settings - Living Riving Room (L+R) - Voice Services]. When I followed the same steps to re-enable, I was surprised to see that the app turned the right speaker's microphone back on. Seems to me that a manually disabled microphone should not be able to be turned back on through the network. It's a potential privacy hole. Have others noticed this, and has Sonos stated whether this is expected behavior?
Set up new Sonos One. Alexa will start playing when requested but when requested to stop or pause, Alexa responds with "I can change playback mode only when music is playing" despite the fact that music is currently playing. Alexa will respond to other questions like "what's the weather?" but then music resumes. Alexa just won't stop, or play music on another speaker once started.
I didn't see this advertised anywhere but after setting up my Sonos One with Alexa it seems that any smart home devices do not work. All works perfectly with my echo dot but the Sonos Alexa is kind of a half baked approach. Is that just me? Sonos admins please let me know if I'm doing something wrong.
I have a number of Sonos speakers, is there anyway to address a 'group' - like "Play relaxing music everywhere". I have tried setting up a group in the Alexa app, but that doesn't work. While I am here - do the names of the Sonos speakers have to be different to existing 'smart stuff'. I have lights called 'Living Room' and a Sonos called 'Living Room', and that seems to confuse things...
After waiting for the announcement for Echo integration with Sonos for what seems like an eternity (I was [i]really [/i]looking forward to it), I have to say I am somewhat underwhelmed by the current offering. For what it's worth, here's my feedback: - A glorified Bluetooth speaker - is what it feels like. I could have done most of what I'm currently getting by putting a cable from my Echo Dot to my Sonos Connect Amp's line in. In fact I tried that some time ago but quickly disconnected it as the streaming TuneIn Radio via the Echo cuts out a [i]lot [/i]more than the TuneIn Radio via Sonos, and I listen to radio probably 90% of the time. Everything is through the Echo - as above, it seems you're not controlling Sonos through Alexa at all, you're simply outputting Alexa audio through Sonos. When that's TuneIn Radio, it cuts out just as bad as when using just the Echo. If I could hard-wire my Echo I would, but it's WiFi only, and it's 4 feet from a Google Wifi hard-wired WiFi point

Alexa responds to a 'play music command' but it does not actually play anything. The Sonos One works fine from the app. Alexa also will tell you the weather etc... just fine. When music is playing if you ask Alexa to turn off music it says 'I can only do that when music is playing' . Alexa connects to tunein and my amazon account but doesn't end up playing anything even though it says it is.
Just bought a Sonon One in Singapore - It is advertised to have Alexa voice service but upon setup the app simply state: Voice service, not available in your country? Is this correct, how do i get it activated? Right now the Sonos One - is no different from my Sonos Play 1 that i wanted to upgrade.
Hi all, I have seen a few topics where people are commenting that they are having trouble giving commands to their Sonos One player via Alexa but I'm finding the microphone is too sensitive and it is chiming constantly when we are talking nearby without even using the wake word. Is there any way to adjust sensitivity (I don't think there is but thought it wouldn't hurt to ask). Also, is there any way to change the wake work like on the Echo? My other half is called Alex and it would be better to have a different wake work (we use Echo on the Amazon Echo Dot we have). Thanks.
The Sonos One webpage states "Everything that Alexa does - Play songs, check news and traffic, manage smart devices and enjoy all those other helpful Amazon Alexa skills using a single Sonos speaker." However, reading the forum and other sites, this doesn't seem to be quite true. We've be using an Amazon Echo Dot for a while, and find it to be really useful. I was looking for a multi-room speaker solution for an extension that we are building, and was considering Sonos Play:1 until I saw the Sonos One. However, I am concerned that if the functionality of Alexa is limited, this will irritate us. I realise that Sonos will be able to add software updates and new features, but we don't have a roadmap as such. Could we reasonably expect that the Alexa integration in the Sonos One will reach parity with Amazon Echo, or will it always be a poorer cousin?
I set up two Ones in the bedroom and said "Alexa play flash briefing" and Alexa responds with "here is your flash briefing" and then nothing happens (silence). This has happened about 50% of the time. Meaning it plays sometimes. I just got these and am debating between using two play1's and an Echo Dot. I want to use whatever will have the least amount of problems. The cons of using the Dot aren't a big deal to me (flash briefing on the dot).
According to Amazon that's the case. So i did a chat with Amazon support since the Sonos One is not finding my Phillips Hue lights (which work fine with the Dot)... Quite simply my Sonos One doesn't find my hue lights, but if i plug the Dot back in it disovers them fine, and they can be controlled via the One. If i unplug the Dot the lights become unreachable. All other smart home devices are ok. I don't want to make this post too wordy, but i've done all the troubleshooting i can think of, inculding removing and re-adding voice services which i saw in another post. I have removed the Dot from my Alexa account, leaving just the One, still no joy. My lights are using the v1 Hue Bridge in case that matters Thanks
