My two Sonos Ones have previously been playing BBC radio stations via TuneIn without any problems: 'Alexa, play BBC Radio 4' would return 'Playing BBC Radio 4 from TuneIn' and the appropriate audio stream. Something strange has started happening today. Alexa is now trying to use a BBC skill and, depending on exactly how I ask, may or may not play audio. If I say 'Alexa, play BBC Radio 4', it returns 'Here's Radio 4 FM (tone) the BBC' and no audio stream. If I say 'Alexa, play BBC Radio 4 from the BBC', it again returns 'Here's Radio 4 FM (tone) the BBC' but now with the correct audio stream. Weird, I know: I have tested it again and again. When I look at my Alexa settings, it has added a new BBC skill. If I remove the skill, it just adds it back whenever I request a BBC radio channel. I don't mind using TuneIn or the BBC, but I don't want to have to specify the source every time. I don't know whether this relates to yesterday's 8.6 upgrade or perhaps Amazon have made a c
I have a Sonos Playbar and subwoofer connected to my Sony tv. I want to get 2 back speakers, either Sonos One Smart speakers with Alexa or Sonos Play:1 without Alexa. I have been told that Alexa will not work with the Playbar. Is this true? I don’t want to spend the extra money if Alexa won’t work, anyway.
I'm setting up a whole home system and looking to use Amazon Alexa app to control my Sonos system. But I'm not seeing that the Sonos Connects are controllable thru the Alexa app. Can someone please confirm that I will be able to control my in ceiling speakers with Alexa thru the Connect or Connect:Amp? I currently own some Play:1s and have updated to be able to control this thru Alexa. Does anyone have any suggestions on how they setup their multiroom home audio system using architectural speakers? For instance, I'm looking for suggestions on a 5.1 surround A/V Receiver that will wake through a Sonos Connect. Thank you!
I bought the Sonos one in December 2017, telling everyone what a fantastic product this is, how wrong was I. 3 months later it keeps telling me “this device is offline” when I ask Alexa to play anything. I have reinstalled everything, rebooted everything, disconnected everything, reconnected everything, but still no joy. Sonos sort this out please it’s embarrassing what I read on these forums.....you should be ashamed.
I love my Sonos Beam w/ Alexa, but it really sucks that a lot of baseline Alexa functionality doesn't work w/ Sonos. For example, I want to set a Routine that shuts off my TV, dims the lights, and plays Jazz music from Pandora at volume 10. I can easily setup this Routine on my iPhone, but Alexa on Sonos doesn't support it at all, which is incredibly annoying. Does your engineering team have a roadmap or timeline to adopt more of the standard or baseline Alexa functionality, like Routines?
Is there any plan for the Sonos speakers to work with Google Voice Assistant like Alexa? I am currently own several Play 5 speakers so can Sonos make that current product line to work with voice control as well (Alexa/Google Assistant/Siri/Cornata).
Just got and set up a Sonos One. Can I add Sonos and Alexa apps on my wife’s phone for her to use the system? If so should she use the same user and password as I use on the Sonos and Alexa apps or set up her own, and then would it automatically access the existing Sonos system?
Can any of you good people tell me.....one why can’t I play Apple Music form Alexa dot via Sonos if playing Apple music at the moment it is not possible does anybody know when it will be I’ve successfully linked my Sonos to my echo.but cannot get anything to play via the Alexa.
I had some trouble with my Sonos setup a couple of days ago that required some troubleshooting. I have two sonos ones acting as surrounds to my playbar and sub in the living room. When I was troubleshooting I removed the surrounds and tested them as individual speakers and also as a stereo pair. When doing this, I had to give a name to the stereo pair and the two individual speakers. At some point, I also changed the name of the Living Room to TV Room thinking the issue may have been caused by a naming conflict. After my issue was resolved, I added the surrounds back to my living room setup where they will remain. Now, in the alexa app the names for my stereo pair and individual speakers still remain even though they are not in use. I now have 4 device names on the alexa app that are not in use. I understand that I will have my group name which is now Living Room and my two Sonos devices which are now labeled Sonos One Left and Sonos One Right. However, I also have devices named TV Roo
I have the Play One with Alexa which works amazing. I also have an Echo Dot in another room that works beautifully with my Sonos system. The only slightly annoying thing is that I have to tell my Echo Dot "Play Rock in the Living room". If I don't specifically say "in the living room" the dot plays the music (which is technically correct). Does anyone know if there is a way to change the default player/speaker so that I no longer have to specifically say the location of the speakers I want to use? In other words I would just say "Play Rock" and my Sonos speakers would kick on. I can't seem to find anything specific to this question while searching the Alexa forums.
So, I have a premium Spotify account, I have Spotify set as the default music player in Alexa, but Alexa will now only respond with "Your Spotify account does not support streaming on this device." I have run through the process described here: https://en.community.sonos.com/amazon-alexa-and-sonos-229102/sonos-one-not-responding-to-alexa-comands-6793239/index1.html#post16161848 where you reset everything in Alexa and Sonos, but the result is the same: Alexa repeating that, "Your Spotify account does not support streaming on this device." Any help? Anyone? Really frustrating.
I want to talk to my Echo Dot and have Alexa respond to me through a Play:1. In order to make this happen, I had to hook up the Dot to a Connect:Amp, use the controller to have the Play:1 play from the Line In of the Connect:Amp, and the connection seems to work. However, if I ask Alexa a question, "Alexa, what time is it?" "Alexa, tell me a joke." her voice comes through the Play:1 at a very low volume, so low that I can barely hear it. Volume on Echo is at 10, and the Play:1 volume is on full. Music plays loud as expected, but Alexa's voice is way too quiet. Am I doing something wrong, or should I just give up on trying to make Alexa and Play:1 work in this way? Very disappointing if that's the case.
Can you play Apple Music on Sonos One? I have the Alexa app on my iPhone, linked my Apple Music account to Alexa, however she does not respond. I can use my Mac desktop app to play Apple Music okay, but not with Alexa directly on the Sonos One. Any thoughts before I call tech support?? Thanks for any help, Happy New Year, Leonard
Can someone please advise how to have Sonos One and Echo units play together? I bought the Sonos One yesterday and was surprised when that capability was not available. I tried syncing for hours with not success. I could only play one song on my two echo's and a different on on my Sonos. Most likely will return the Sonos One if it's not an option. Is that capability out there? Can someone instruct how to do it? Thank you for your help!
Ask ‘Alexa’ the weather, my eco, dot, and tap say “ in Brunswick, the weather is”. Both of the new Sonos Ones say “in Brook Park the weather is”. Alexa app is set up with the correct local address for both Sonos Ones, I don’t see anywhere in the sonos app to set a location. I think my internet provider is located in Brook Park (two towns over). Any ideas on what’s going on? Or how th fix?
We've got 4 x Sonos Play:1s dotted throughout the house - usually all grouped together. We bought a couple of the Echo Dots under the recent offer, and have subsequently signed up for a trial Spotify account (having previously been using Deezer as our main streaming service). However, we can't get Spotify to play via Sonos at all (had a little success when we first bought the dots a couple of weeks ago but nothing regular and nothing at all now). So how can I do it? I've made sure that Spotify is the default music app, I've deregistered and reregistered the Sonos skill in the Alexa app to no avail. If I ask Alexa to play something without specifying the room she'll play it on the Echo with no issues (and tells me that she's playing from Spotify). But if I ask her to play something in a certain room (i.e. on a Sonos speaker) she just says 'Sorry - something went wrong'. Please tell me what I'm doing wrong! It's driving me crazy and we need to make a decision whether we carry
Hi there, I've been using Alexa on my beam for months with only a few issues. The main issue is sometimes it stops responding to voice until I go into the Sonos app and I remove Alexa voice service in room settings and then just re-add it. That has always fixed it in the past, in a few seconds. A bit annoying, but only every month or two. Tonight, same issue, so I removed Alexa and went to add again. However, it won't add tonight. I've tried from three different devices. As soon as I press to sign into Amazon, it pauses for a second and then says there was a problem adding Alexa, it doesn't take me to the Amazon login page at all. I've tried restarting, deleting the skill in the Alexa app, deregistering the device from Amazon etc. Otherwise it's working fine as a speaker and TV bar. Even works for streaming when I ask an Amazon echo to play music on it. Just won't enable Alexa its self. Any one else have this. Wondering if server side as was working fine. Any ideas? Thanks Steve
