Hi, Great to finally get Alexa integration, but so far all the commands it supports seem to be rather clunky, and occasionally don't work. I have realised since having it the only command I really want is "Alexa Transfer to Sonos everywhere". This would enable me to take the thing that is playing locally and push it to every one of the rooms in my house. Naming rooms is fine when you are looking at them, but is it "Basement", "Office" or "downstairs"? Added bonus would be to name groups of speakers. Actually the core app could do with this. Otherwise, just need to get the reliability up in the hand over. The functions should also accept what is playing on my phone's music collection. So "Alexa, play on " should allow you to hear what you have selected on the phone's collection. Not sure if a phone's music collection can be queried in reverse, but it would be nice. Otherwise keep up the good work! Perhaps you can come up with a command I never knew I needed ;-)! Best,
I set up two Ones in the bedroom and said "Alexa play flash briefing" and Alexa responds with "here is your flash briefing" and then nothing happens (silence). This has happened about 50% of the time. Meaning it plays sometimes. I just got these and am debating between using two play1's and an Echo Dot. I want to use whatever will have the least amount of problems. The cons of using the Dot aren't a big deal to me (flash briefing on the dot).
After a day or so, my Sonos Beam stopped letting me control the volume. When I use "Alexa volume 5", I just get the "nuh uh" sound, the volume slider in the Sonos app doesn't actually change the volume, and the TV remote doesn't either. This is whether or not the TV is on, and no matter which audio service I'm using.
Hello everyone. I have two Play 1's and a new Sonos one I got for christmas. Here is my setup. I have the two Play 1's setup in my living room and the Sonos one setup in my kitchen for Alexa & music. Both rooms are beside each other so it's nice to have a surround sound like music on the main floor of the house. Using the Sonos app I can control the volume of the music in either room and I've also created a group to have the music streaming on all three speakers at the same time and can control the volume as a group which is great. Here is my suggestion for a feature I would like. I would like to be able to control the volume of Alexa's voice. For example if we have low music playing in the back ground and you ask Alexa something you can barely hear her. If the volume is say mid level you can hear her anywhere in the room. So when were done listening to low level music I turn the volume up for the kitchen so that if we need anything from Alexa we can hear her properly. The only
I own an echo dot and I live in the netherlands. It works perfectly well. The only workaround is I have to tell it I live in the UK. I use it in english set to united states, just to be clear. I can set all these things through the alexa app. If I get a sonos one, will it actually work in the netherlands? I really want this product, and the limitation is silly to say the least. When I try to preorder one it says: --------- Voice control for Sonos is not supported in your country, yet. These features will be available when Sonos and a voice service launch together in your region. Amazon Alexa support for Sonos One is available in: Austria Germany United Kingdom United States ---------- Can somebody from Sonos reply to this simple question: - will I be able to simply change the country setting and have it work perfectly, like I do now with my amazon echo dot?
Not an ideal place to ask, but I’m not signing up to another forum to just ask this... Currently I have a couple of Play 1’s setup in the kitchen with an Echo Dot. Obviously, at the moment I have to say, ‘Alexa, play BBC 6 Music in the kitchen’ to kick things off. But I also have Sonos Ones and a Beam as well, so when I’m in the kitchen I often forget to say ‘kitchen’ so the bloody thing plays horrible sounds from the Echo Dot, or music as Amazon calls it -it’s almost rage inducing. I have tried to find out but does anybody know if the new Echo Input will pair with just one set of speakers, and therefore will a target room not be necessary? If I can just say, ‘Alexa, play BBC 6 Music’ and it comes out of the Play 1’s then my sanity is worth £40.
I currently have two Play 1's and Playbar and Sub. If I were to purchase an echo dot to go along with my system. Would all audio play through my Sonos system or only music? From what I have been reading it sounds like only music services will play through the Sonos. If I were to ask Alexa something like, "What is the weather going to be like today?" Would the response play over my Sonos speakers or the Echo Dot speaker?
Hi Folks Happy New Year to everyone! Just bought my 3rd Sonos this week (Sonos One). Alexa is only playing one song on a playlist then stopping which is driving me insane. Has anyone got a solution to this very annoying problem please? Looking at the forum it seems like a very common problem that keeps lingering on which is very disappointing considering the reputation of 2 huge companies Amazon & Sonos. Any help or advice from anyone would be much appreciated? Thanks
How do you add Sonos speakers to the everywhere group with Alexa speakers so that the music plays on ALL the speakers including the Alexa speakers(Echo Dots, etc)?
I’ve tried so many different groups and settings and preferred speaker choices and this doesn’t seem to be possible. I have an Echo, and an echo dot. I also have a Sonos beam with a sub and 2 play 1’s for surround. When I added Alexa third party to my Sonos app, I’m able to use Alexa on my Sonos beam which is great! However, when I create a group to include Sonos and the 2 Alexa devices I have, I can only choose the Alexa devices to play together OR just the Sonos devices. I can’t choose all of them so they ALL play music everywhere. Does anyone know if this is possible?! Please advise😊
Having an issue where whenever I try to play something on Spotify on Sonos using Alexa, it's just coming up with 'To link your Spotify, please add a premium account in the Alexa app' even though I have already done this. When I try to play Spotify using just the Echo dot it's playing fine - just doing this when I want it to play on the Sonos! Anyone have any ideas? Thank you :)
For roughly the past week, I have been having trouble streaming KPCC (Los Angeles) with Alexa on TuneIn through my Sonos One. Previously, it was working fine. Other stations seem to work okay, but importantly, KPCC works fine when I try this on my Echo Dot. So the problem has something to do with Sonos. When I say, "Alexa, play KPCC" OR "Alexa, play KPCC on TuneIn", Alexa either remains silent or says "KPCC on TuneIn Live is currently not available." But if I say "Play KPCC on iHeartRadio" it works fine. It also works fine playing other radio stations on TuneIn. As I mentioned, the station plays fine through my Echo Dot, but if I say to my Dot, "Alexa, play KPCC in Living Room," the Sonos is silent. So, again, it seems like a Sonos issue. Anyone else having similar problems on TuneIn with this or other stations? Is this type of problem something Sonos is aware of? Thanks.
Have recently set up Alexa with Sonos and it works OK, but if I ask Alexa to play an album (play album name, by band and where I want it played), it just plays (queues) the first song in the Album. None of the other songs in the album appear in the queue on the Sonos app. Do I need to word the question to Alexa in another format?
Apologies if I've missed something and it can be done, but I've not seen it in any instructions. i.e. can you pre-setup one or more songs while a song is already playing? Would be really useful, otherwise if you're browsing random songs (not a playlist), then it means you have to be around and ready when a song finishes to set up the next one - and there will always be a gap between songs. Thanks
I have successfully set up Alexa on my Sonos One but I cannot control Spotify with it. I have a Spotify premium account and it works fine with my Amazon Echo and Dot. On my Alexa app under Sonos One and Spotify, it says “app support unavailable”. Help!
I just bought my first Sonos product today in the Sonons One. It's replacing my Alexa as that unit has sub par audio quality. I followed all steps to set up alexa with the One however I'm not able to control my Philips hue kitchen lights like I was before with voice command. This is a function of the smart home skills in Alexa. Is it not possible with Sonos One or am I doing something wrong?
Hi, I've seen various threads on this but not yet found a solution. I have added Spotify to my Alexa skills, I have set it as the default music service and I have made sure all my email addresses are matching on each account but still when I ask my Play One w Alexa to play something it simply says 'sorry, something went wrong?' If I ask it to play something on TuneIn radio that works fine and I do have Spotify Premium. Is there anything else I should be trying? Many thanks, Alex
I have checked with Sonos, and they have confirmed that you cannot ask Alexa to play tracks from your own library. Further, they have no plans to support this. As much as I love my existing Sonus setup, and as much as I want to try Alexa out, I do NOT want to sign up to a music service when I have a large quantity of my favourite music already in my home Sonus library. I have no idea of the technical challenges involved with this. Given your voice command is uploaded and parsed somewhere else, it may be too difficult to send back the results to the sonos controller to access the local library. None the less, I wanted to start a conversation to see if I am alone, or if this is something a lot of people want. Regards, Ian
Hi. I currently have a generation one play5 and play1. They are in different rooms but are grouped. I am looking to replace the play1 with an Amazon Alexa enabled generation 2 play 1. Will I still be able to group the two so they play as a pair? Don’t want to buy it and then find out that they cannot work together.
