Hi everyone,

A little bit of context, I just bought a odyssey g70a monitor that doesnt have spearkers so I am thinking to buy the sonos ray but I realize that the monitor doesnt has optical audio input, it only has jack audio input, my question is, can I use a optical convert to jack cable to connect the sonos ray with my monitor? Will it work?

And I should amend that. You might conceivably attach to the Ray using Apple’s AirPlay 2, but I wouldn’t want to guaranty any sort of lipsync. Could be fine, might not be, but Sonos doesn’t have any control over AirPlay 2, it just plays it when it is received.

Ultimately, you’re trying to do something that Sonos wasn’t really designed for. They don’t make computer speakers, they make either networked music speakers, or home theater speakers, so it’s not hard to understand that it just isn’t that easy to connect to a normal monitor that doesn’t have an optical output. Or, as Ken suggests, a normal soundcard that has an optical output with either stereo or Dolby Digital .

You’d need to link a web description of the specific cable you’d intend to use, to be honest.

There aren’t a lot of cables that can change an electrical input (from the monitor) to an optical output (to the Sonos).

yeah, I didnt have any cable in mind but anyway, Is there a way to connect the sonos ray in to a monitor (without audio optical)?

No. Sorry. The Ray requires an optical input.

Why are you choosing to connect the Ray direct to a monitor and not the usual A/V sources, like a PC’s sound card for example, or an XBox (or whatever A/V source device you are using) etc?

Because I have a PS5 and at the same time I’m using a docking (doesnt has a optical input) to connect my laptop, but thanks any way , I think that I will need to search an other speaker.
