hi,

as you can tell from the title, I do have an unusual house design where i can’t (and honestly don’t need) a full setup of a home theatre. However, I really want to have a good music focused setup where i can play music and enjoy it everywhere in my first floor (by the way, the house already exists and i can’t make any changes).

so, I’ve been thinking of getting the arc ultra for the tv (shown in blue), and when i play the tv the other two speakers (shown in red) will be turned off cause there’s no point of hearing the tv around the house. i want them be grouped only when playing music though.

main questions are:

is the ultra arc too much for the living room area?

is it too much for a floor like this to have ultra and two additional speakers like era 100 for music purposes only? is one enough? do era 100 speakers even sound good when ultra is playing? is ultra enough for the whole house?

all these questions and me not knowing how to approach this is only because of the unusual house design I have. any tips of how to know or what to buy or literally any other useful information would be appreciated.

thank you

I'd think the Arc Ultra would do well in that space, with the odd shape you would get less than ideal sound, the same would be true for any soundbar setup though.

I use smaller Sonos scattered around the house (Ones and Play 3s) to do just what you are looking for and find them very good.

I don’t know if you’ve budget restrictions, but perhaps I would add a Sub to the equation. Located smartly could enhance the sound in different locations. If the budget is limited, perhaps the old Arc and the gen3 sub (still available) instead of the ultra?

I swapped an Ultra in where I had an Arc, I wouldn't go back.

The Arc Ultra will do well in the space where it’s located for movies.

The places you have marked for Era 100’s works well IMO for music. I’d even consider adding one in the kitchen area.

Understand that thus far all Era 100’s should be set as stand-alone units (individual rooms). I would not consider joining any two as a stereo pair. If you do want stereo pairs you should consider adding a 2nd Era 100 in each space no more than 10 feet apart (horizontally). Additionally, sending movie audio (i.e. grouping them with the Arc Ultra) is not recommended as there will be a 75ms delay to the Era 100’s causing a lip-sync/echo effect. Grouping the Era 100’s with the Arc Ultra for music is OK; as there is no delay.

You might consider adding a Sub to the Arc Ultra. Doing so will allow the Arc Ultra to better handle dialogue and other frequencies. Also, music will be enhanced.
